Day-liah, kissing's "too expensive?" Hmmm... That raises lots of questions about whom you're kissing, where, etc. *G*

Eyes open or closed? Personally? ... I forget.


On the other hand, your eloquent description [... having your eyes shut while kissing then opening eyes to realise you and your partner are looking deep into each others' souls...] did stir a few smouldering memories, Noreen! (Where's that cold drink?)

Now if there's really gonna be a scientific 'spearmint,' I'll sign up -- but I think the trials should be held in the UK, with the female volunteer subjects being flown in, at the expense of the project, for research purposes.

But getting back to the question: I usually kiss with my eyes closed. I truly get lost in the moment that way. But then, as Noreen points out, glancing up to see your lover's eyes looking deep into your own is not without its good points as well.

This reminds me of how we used to play 'Spin the Bottle' when we were pre-teens. We'd brace ourselves, lips tightly sealed, eyes wide open, then clamp faces together and press each others teeth in while we held our breath. The contest was to see who could hold that posture the longest - which really meant who could hold their breath the longest!

And tongues? Unheard of - yuk yuk YUK!!! - from a child's point of view anyway.

Now this was back in the late 60's/early 70's, and kids are alot more worldly these days. I've even heard 7-year-olds discussing the mechanics of oral sex waiting for the school bus!

As for me, I don't get into the kissing thing much these days. Too 'expensive', and I find music much more satisfying anyway ... don't hafta clean up after it or explain to it where you're going ... or worry about hurting it's feelings when you've had enough and turn it off ... don't hafta shower when it's over ... or take antibiotics/spend decades of your life looking after it's 'products' ...

Hmmmm do I sound like a cynical old crone or WHAT! Better go polish my false teeth now he he he ...

I have a female friend (very platonic!) and we both wear glasses. When we kiss hello or goodbye (this is her idea, I kid you not) we pucker up our lips and our lips meet about an inch in front of our faces. This saves clashing glasses.

Usually, we can't do it for laughing!

I think eyes closed is generally the better way to go, but there can be occasional exceptions to that. Kissing, when both people really mean it, is probably the most intimate and sensual act possible, in my opinion (I remember a few incidents that just about fused all my nerve endings permanently....).

I suggest that the lack of volunteers has more to do with women choosing not to be a "kiss and tell" subject. But for myself in the interest of a scientific study with a control group and all, I would be willing to enter my name in a study to determine the eye position of the orbicularis oculi during the juxtaposition of two orbicularis oris in the state of contraction.

Maybe they are catching each other checking to see if the other's eyes are open, and he is somewhere asking what it means that she keeps peeking to see if his eyes are open.   

My own eyes are open, usually, and not just for kissing. Though I've been kissing my wife for 22 years she still hasn't figured out I don't really mean it, I guess. What does a kiss mean that one doesn't mean when they don't really mean it? You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss.

I confessed once that sometimes when we're together she's her, sometimes she's just a woman I'm happy to sleep with. She said That's all right--a very good answer, I thought.

IT has no inherent meaning -- sometimes kissing while gazing into another's eyes doubles the fun! But it could mean he was staying aloof, not drawn into the moment fully, still calculating. It's not something to be read out of context, though.

My friend has just told me that her partner always kisses her with his eyes open, and should it mean anything, she always kisses him with her shut (through she must have peeked to have seen) Well i was always told when i was muchhhhhh younger (can't remember who by) that if he kissed with his eyes open he properly didn't really mean it, no passion, so come on you men mudcatters, what does it mean, if anything,if you have any thoughts on this enlighten me for what it's worth!
