Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Sam L Date: 12 Jan 04 - 07:16 PM Nah, now I'm not getting spam I don't want to go anywhere, ever. It's nagging at me to think of some celebrity I do kind of hate--I dislike feeling that I might be above it, somehow. I don't like being above anything. I was a vegetarian for 20 years but started to eat meat every now and then just to tell myself to shut up about it. So I've started to hate Tina Fey, headwriter for Saturday Night Live, who I liked until recently. In a profile about her in the New Yorker she said she was one of the mean kids in high school, and it's puzzled me why anyone would want to own up to that. Then after watching the show the other night, which was new but still felt like a re-run, after the "Appalachian E.R." bit, it came to me. She was really that nerdy moronic wannabe type who tagged along after the mean kids and is now claiming she was one of them. The mean kids never tried much to be funny, their confidence and non-chalance was enough, and they don't grow into comedy writers. Now I can't stand her, and the show seems sour and pathetic. |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Cluin Date: 12 Jan 04 - 02:54 PM I suppose if you REALLY wanna see it, you could go here. Warning! Don't let the kids see. |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 12 Jan 04 - 01:25 PM More on (moron?) stupid girls' names. (Stupid names of girls.) Of men's names which have been adopted, Courtney (my father-in-law's name) has been used recently for girls. Then of course we have the whole thing of Celtic family names as feminine first names, like Kelly, etc. I Hate "cutesy". Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: C-flat Date: 12 Jan 04 - 01:00 PM Up untill a few weeks ago I was bombarded with e-mails offering me "unbelievable rates at Hilton hotels" which all turned out to be offering the opportunity to watch Paris Hilton having sex. Spam can be mildly annoying but I couldn't muster up enough concern for her to hate her or enough interest to want to pay to watch her. |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: GUEST Date: 12 Jan 04 - 12:26 PM She looks like she would be great fun at a party.... Wouldn't mind her showing up empty-handed and uninvited at all. |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Big Mick Date: 12 Jan 04 - 10:40 AM I just checked this one. In the "Older Woman" thread I described what I find stimulating. This woman in her physical appearance, lack of intellect, shallowness, and on and on, is exactly the opposite of that. I would date Tyne Daly any day over her. And enjoy it more. Mick |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Steve in Idaho Date: 12 Jan 04 - 10:30 AM "long blond hair and boney...looks like she is suffering from extreme malnutrition. This is supposed to be beautiful? " Well said Art - She didn't release the video - the boyfriend did. I have not seen it either and would have to tear my eyes away from Janet to do so - and Janet, for those who do not know, is my lovely bride and much more worthy of my time than an internet video. I had other things to say but suddenly lost interest. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Sam L Date: 12 Jan 04 - 10:11 AM Thanks Guest, couldn't you at least mis-spell "guest" or something so I could follow your posts as well? It's fun to develop an ongoing impression. I doubt the Simple Life could possibly live up to Green Acres, which was really very sharp. I have a theory that a patent attorney must've been involved in it's conception, because of it's take on the Kafka-esque conflict of reasonable ideas in a rutted, conventional culture. The county agent was the personification of patent-law prolixity and Mr Hainey was the invention-world's perpetual scam artist. It would be fun if there was a show in China about a guy who invented a spoon. Paris Hilton could be very pretty if one were disposed to like her, but is stringy and freakish if not. I realized the other day that a strikingly beautiful friend's looks had a lot to do with her Al Sharpton personality--she's a nut, but is so believable in the way she constantly flatters you that even if she looked like Quasimodo you'd still feel there's just something about her. She's so perceptive! |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Willie-O Date: 12 Jan 04 - 09:38 AM Ebbie, the premises are similar, but Eddie Albert wasn't a "simple farmer", he was a big-city business guy who decided to chuck it all and go 'back to the land', to his wife's ongoing distress--making him an early prototype for the current (post-hippie) generation of what I call "the open-chequebook theory of homesteading." Cluin, that's pretty much what I think too. The video coming out netwide right before wanna-be superstar's TV show goes on air--this is slick twenty-first century trash-PR. Probably trying to irritate her family too... W-O |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Ebbie Date: 12 Jan 04 - 01:22 AM I read somewhere that 'The Simple Life' is a takeoff on last generation's 'Green Acres', the TV show about the simple farmer, Eddie Albert, and socialite Eva Gabor, who wanted to be with her husband but yearned for the city. |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Cluin Date: 12 Jan 04 - 12:48 AM It's all a publicity stunt to get people to watch that stupid show, "The Simple Life". All in all, big deal. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Sam L Date: 11 Jan 04 - 06:30 PM Peg, I didn't mean it was very unusual, I'm not sure what I meant but it's kind of funny don't you think? Even funnier to suppose maybe it's a Paris Hilton double--think how much more fuss over nothing that could engender!I just got tickled. I think I have more or less the same feeling about it, if it was handy I'd watch it, I'm sure some friend of mine has it, but I don't get out much. I disagree though--sometimes in amateur porn people can't help laughing, or they employ odd theatrical devices, stagey monologues, or narration, and I don't think pro porn is as prone to bits of charming goofiness. As soon as anyone starts making half-way entertaining porn it will be shocking that nobody did it before. I was planning to produce an "Adult" adult education video series--learn to read with porn. But I never heard back from the muppets or anybody, and the project has stalled. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Sam L Date: 11 Jan 04 - 01:59 AM Peg you are so funny. I have no idea why I would guess that of anyone you would have seen the video. Or why it's so endearing. Or who cares if it's really Paris Hilton, or Marge Simpson, or that one mom I loved on Southpark who knew what a rim-job was. This is a pretty funny thread all around. It's tickling anybody would bother to hate such a non-entity of a celebrity--like hating that one kid on Peanuts who dances like this: > > < < > > etc. She's apparently wealthy, has sex, is skinny and sort of funny-looking. So far I can't form much of an opinion, or even try. |

Here's hoping! Okay, here's a Hilton joke that is SUPPOSED to be a true story. On the opening day of the Statler Hilton in NYC, they had a nationwide radio hook-up for the big event. All the big shots were there, including of course Conrad Hilton. All the politicians and moviestars had their say. Fiorello LaGuardia proclaimed that it was a great step forward for New York. F.D.R. said how proud it made him to have a five-star hotel in America. Finally, the radio announcer invited Mr. Hilton to speak. "Have you anything to say to Mr. and Mrs. America?" "Indeed I have. Ladies and gentlemen, PLEASE, keep the shower curtains on the inside!" JOHNNY in OKC |
Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: GUEST,Ely Date: 10 Jan 04 - 11:23 PM I don't like her or hate her, I just find her embarrassing. I don't think she's that attractive, either (although as a heterosexual female, I might not be the best judge); I suspect her biggest claim to fame is being unnervingly thin. I've never known a man named Paris. I've known two or three women named Paris, though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Amos Date: 10 Jan 04 - 09:14 PM Ariel is masculine in the original Hebrew but it is in the English-speaking tradition as a feminine name, as well -- e.g., Ms Durant, the renowned historianix, and of course that verdamt mermaid. Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: RangerSteve Date: 10 Jan 04 - 09:11 PM Paris and her friend (whose name I forget but is Lionel Richie's daughter) are currently in a reality TV show called "The Simple Life". Better to visit this thread and find photos of some classy women. Who also look like they've read a few books in their lifetimes. SRS |

If you're talking about those plain gray text box type things, they use Windows Messenger Service, a Windows program that was designed for system administrators and such to use. Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: PoppaGator Date: 09 Jan 04 - 06:04 PM It's hard to believe that the Hilton family would name any daughter or son after any city -- her name winds up being like a bad pun. Well, it coulda been worse -- they might have named her "Airport." Looks like there'll be more than 15 minutes of fame. Paris is currently costarring in a Fox network "reality" TV series about two spoiled rich girls sent to live with a farm family in rural Arkansas. Paris' sidekick is singer Lionel Ritchie's daughter Nicole. I've only seen part of one episode; I'm told that Paris comes off as the more likeable and down-to-earth (relatively speaking) of the two. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most hated woman: Paris Hilton From: Amos Date: 09 Jan 04 - 03:20 PM She is just a model, basically, but one who made internet fame for herself by apparently releasing a video of herself enjoying physical intimacy with her boyfriend. She's not compellingly beautiful in the first place, and responding to spam is a lousy idea in any case, but MOST of all, why should anyone want to drool over someone else's sexual activity?
