Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: mouldy Date: 13 May 09 - 05:07 AM I'll fess up to just doing the washing and a bit of garden pottering yesterday. Today I am mainly tied up with my neighbour's funeral (in just over an hour). Also my daughter rang me in tears a couple of hours ago to tell me one of her cats had just been run over, and she hadn't long let him out. I think I may be going there after the funeral bash. If I get an hour or so I may have a go at the front garden later on. Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: MAG Date: 13 May 09 - 08:27 PM hmmm, must not have posted my weigh-in last week. I can't remember what it was 2 weeks ago, either. Anyway, I was 186 at the Y this morning; I think I'm yoyoing but at least I seem to be yoyoing in a downward direction, still. I am not working out like I should be, but I am yanking a lot of weeds (which just gives me a backache, but has to be burning a little something.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 14 May 09 - 12:00 AM Good for you, MAG! You are inspiring me...once the prednisone is all out of my bod, I expect to join you in losing weight, again. (Three weeks and it is bugging me!) maeve, I hope your friends continue to help out...I know I can never get my Rog to rest, either. Hope your arm is doing better. I spent about twenty minutes working in the yard, watering and stuff. Not much, but my energy is very low at the moment. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 May 09 - 03:29 AM No yoga for a few days, for one it's proving very difficult to get back into a normal routine and for two, I've pulled a muscle in my side by coughing with chest infection... however, last night's weigh-in showed no gain, but no loss either. Ho hum. I'm now wondering whether the pain of getting the thing on is worth the relief my corset is giving me from the pain... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Catherine Jayne Date: 14 May 09 - 05:08 AM Got my 4 mile walk this evening and an hours yoga. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: maeve Date: 14 May 09 - 06:23 AM Thanks Kat, it seems to be working fine, though I've some strength to regain and it is still very stiff. I weeded and mulched the big peony garden out front yesterday from 10 am - 2 pm. It's the first thing visitors notice so high on my priority catch-up list. maeve |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 14 May 09 - 11:36 AM That's good, maeve, though that's a lot of weeding! Wish me luck, folks?! I am going in the kitchen now to tackle the dishes! |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 15 May 09 - 11:08 AM The task this week is to stick 100% to the 'eating plan', something I find I haven't been doing. To this end, I've put a list of the things I eat most often on the fridge, along with their pudgy point value. It seems to be working, because although I really haven't been 100% faithful, I have thought twice about what I am snacking on. Hopefully the weigh in next week (must remember it's Monday, not Wednesday) will show the difference. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Amergin Date: 15 May 09 - 02:09 PM Well...i have been on mainly a healthy vegetarian diet...vegetables and fruit...and lots of spices.... speed walking three miles every morning....and playing with my wii every night.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 15 May 09 - 04:25 PM Wow, Nathan, that's fantastic! LtS, me, too. I am getting back on track eating-wise. Did a nice thing for myself and my bod, today. Went to the shoe store orthopaedic tech guy, Mario, and had him put new footbeds in my sandals. He built up practically new shoes and it feels so much better. This will help with my walking and it decluttered the checkbook *ouch*. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: MAG Date: 15 May 09 - 06:49 PM A speaker I heard at a (preschool education) conference had bad things to say about yogurt cups and the amount of sugar in them.. I am hoping this just applies to fruit yogurt, which I know is sweetened to the max, and not the Brown Cow coffee yogurt, which is a standard snack for me. 160 calories, half from sugar, 19 grams sugar total. all white I assume. Since I've been doing OK with this I incline to continuing, but then I don't know what it's doing to my blood sugar. I need to round up the blood test sticker; I've been neglecting that -- one of the things I just don't have energy for but may need to bump up on the list. My sleep guy says bad sleep bumps up the fasting glucose too so that's another reason to persist with the sleep stuff, although nothing seems to be working except the sedative, which wears off in the wee hours. Wish me luck. MA |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 15 May 09 - 07:17 PM I've been eating the fruit yoghurt likes it going out of style since being on the prednisone. My daughter thinks it's okay to let my grandson have the sugar-free stuff, but if you look at the label, it's still got sugar plus all of the chemical crap. (He gets all stuffed up when he does too much sugar.) I'd rather have plain old sugar than that! Just tapering off now. Lots better if you just buy plain yoghurt, mix in some frozen fruit, unsweetened, and even add in some low fat cottage cheese. All good protein, low sugar etc. Add a few nuts or low-sugar granola and it's really tasty! Pulled a few more weeds, today, plus watered all by myself. Also about thirty minutes walking here and there. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: LilyFestre Date: 15 May 09 - 07:19 PM Sugar free yogurt does have sugar in it....from the fruit but also from naturally occurring milk sugars. Yoga: 75 minutes Took my giant dog to the vet today (ear infection) and spent an hour trying to hold her and keep her from wiggling so he could work on her ear....she weighs in around 120, so I'd say I had a bit of a workout with her too! Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Catherine Jayne Date: 16 May 09 - 10:10 AM 4 mile walk this morning and 45 minutes spinning class. Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: mouldy Date: 16 May 09 - 11:55 AM I eat Muller Light vanilla yogurts. They are big, and low in points. I then add about 100g (2oz) blueberries, and about 7-10 cut up strawberries. This fills a bowl, and it's very filling! Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 17 May 09 - 12:32 AM Did a lot of work around the house this morning, then shopping, pushing the cart in two stores for a total of about 90 minutes, about 60 of which I do a kind of power walk, quickly through the grocery store because I know what I want and where it is and I can walk faster, safer with the cart to hang on to. The new footbeds in my shoes are really helping, though! |

Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: LilyFestre Date: 18 May 09 - 08:40 AM Early morning yoga (think 6:15am). The sun was shining in from a different angle, we had a nice warm up and then both A&B sun salutations, finishing with some Ashtanga jumping (which I love but haven't done in a few months). Sweaty, yummy, oh so stretchy....loved it! Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 May 09 - 05:41 PM YAY!!! 2lbs lost in the last 5 days, following the Plan closely and drinking more herbal tea. My next target is to break through that elusive 15st barrier and start losing the next one. I'm basically back to where I was in November, but feeling a lot better about it this time... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: MAG Date: 18 May 09 - 10:18 PM Yeah, Liz! Good work. Does the herbal tea have any special powers? |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: mouldy Date: 19 May 09 - 05:30 AM I've put half a pound back on, dammit! More de-cluttering work needed, methinks, to burn up some calories. Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 19 May 09 - 08:54 AM Herbal tea - Sainsburys' Cranberry, raspberry and strawberry tea bags. No caffeine, no GM, tastes as good hot as cold and it's not got any added sweetners or sugars in... I use sweeteners (no pudgy points, huzzah!) to sweeten to taste. Plus my standard default mug holds about a pint of tea, so I'm getting enough liquids which help with the general flush. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 19 May 09 - 10:59 AM Well, the doc's scales say I have lost five pounds in a week, but not from much effort on my part...mostly water weight etc. from the prednisone which I have been off of for a week now.:-> I am glad it comes off as quickly as it goes on with the meds. Now if I can just keep up the momentum! |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Catherine Jayne Date: 20 May 09 - 03:40 AM Congrats Liz!!! Walked a good 3 oe 4 miles yesterday pushing double buggy, although I'm having to make up for eating far too much of Harry's birthday cake yesterday! |

Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: mouldy Date: 21 May 09 - 04:42 AM I was being very good tracking my points yesterday till I went to the garden centre for some potting compost and saw the ice cream fridge.... One Magnum later I went home and did a bit more gardening, ate a pointed-up beef stew, and then went out with Eleanor to see the London City Gospel Choir doing their "Songs from Sister Act" show. Question - Will the amount of bopping about I did in front of my seat cancel out the Magnum and the ice cream I had at the theatre??? Thought not. Andrea |

From: LilyFestre Date: 22 May 09 - 10:19 AM Lost 3.8 pounds this week and spent maybe 2 hours out in my kayak yesterday...first outing of the season and the first voyage with a new kayak (oh is it wrong to say that I love my other boat more?!?!?). Nice little boat...going to take some getting used to. While I was out on the water I saw 2 small mouth bass, 1 small muskie, countless sunfish, 2 BIG UGLY carp, 2 great blue herons (one flying, one stalking), 3 pairs of geese with their teenage goslings (no longer little fluff balls but not quite grown) on land, a mama duck and baby ducklings swimming in a row behind her and a noisy, splashy beaver!! The sun felt soooo good!!! Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: katlaughing Date: 22 May 09 - 12:04 PM Wow, Michelle, that's a lot of weight in one week and a lotta birds! What neat sights! I managed to walk a teeny bit, yesterday, to Morgan's "graduation" from elementary pre-K preschool. He is now officially ready and enrolled for kindergarten next Fall. Today, I was able to walk another small bit, this time with more breath, than yesterday. Still working on letting go of the pneumonia and some seasonal allergies. |

Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: MAG Date: 25 May 09 - 08:04 PM I do not look forward to weekly weigh-in on Wednesday; I couldn't resist at Folk Fest. Read no further if you don't want cravings triggered. redcurry chicken (on white rice), chicken satay on a stick, honey yogurt, an entire pint of (french lavendar bud) ice cream, greek beef/lamb gyros w/all the extra stufdf (on white pita bread), Lebanese falafel sandwich w/ extras (on white pita bread), and this was only when I could get through the lines, which were awful. ate all the bananas I brought with me. ate a pound of baby pork ribs on the way home (of course they are mostly bone, but there is a lotta sweet sauce on them). I did a ton of walking every day, but I do that at work. I dread Wednesday. |

I get into trouble when my mind says, "Oh, well, blew it today, what difference will this (extra piece of whatever) matter now?" Bad tape to play...I like the taking it one day at a time, trite as that may sound. (I know you know this as you have been SO SUCCESSFUL. I think I write it mostly to put myself on the carpet.:-) A bunch of cleaning and some gardening today which required a lot of physical activity, esp. compared to the last few weeks. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - May 2009 - May We/Wii? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 26 May 09 - 03:50 AM Tried a bit of yoga this morning (Warrior is all there is room for in my kitchen - it's pouring with rain so couldn't use garden and the front room is full of quilt piecings) and couldn't believe how stiff I've got over the last few weeks. Mind you, I had spent most of the weekend in the garden, sorting stuff, shoveling piles of poo and assorted crap, and playing hopscotch with Limpit... Next time though, I'll wear shoes, bare feet and newly cleaned floor don't really go. I too, dread Wednesday's weigh-in. Because the kitchen and sitting room have been 'work zones', we've mostly had take-outs this weekend... bad bad person that I am. I'm hoping 3 good days and some Detox tea will help. LTS |
