Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 12 Apr 08 - 12:42 PM We came home last night from the ECHL game (we won) to see the Pens/Sens game repeating-- great, THO IT KEPT US UP TILL ALMOST 2am, because the VCR misfired-- and from here it looked like the Sens are getting ready to give the Pens trouble enough in Ottawa. (Scary Gary is headed your way though.) (SORRY ABOUT THOSE ALLCAPS, i'M TYPING ONE HANDED WITH A CUT FINGER oh damn, AND I keep hitting the caps button!) But GO PENS! ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Bobert Date: 12 Apr 08 - 07:39 PM I'll ask again: Who wants his or her team to play the Caps right now??? Hmmmmmm??? B;~) |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: gnu Date: 12 Apr 08 - 08:06 PM Just saw The Cherry on the TV... is that jacket LOUD er what? But, in a good way, eh? GOHABSGO! WEll, what Habs they have on their team. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Beer Date: 12 Apr 08 - 10:04 PM Heart breaker for the Bruins. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 13 Apr 08 - 08:05 AM Man, one of the biggest things I miss about living in Northern Vermont is Hockey Night in Canada, eh! I get 2 Canadian stations here but they're both in French and I don't speak a word of it... |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: gnu Date: 13 Apr 08 - 09:47 AM They play in French? |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Apr 08 - 11:56 AM In English Hockey Night in Canada is THE best ongoing sports broadcast. The best video-graphy, the best editing the best presentation, with Bob Cole the best play by play and usually the best commentary. I can't speak for the French, But they've been doing it for a very long time. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Apr 08 - 12:01 PM Is that the CBC one? Sometimes versus "borrows" the CBC feed for their late-night games and it is always WAY better than the Versus or NBC hype-o-rama. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 13 Apr 08 - 12:38 PM Yes, Gnu..that's precisely it. What I MEANT was I cannot understand the play-by-play dudes on those channels and Grapes is nowhere to be found. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Apr 08 - 10:28 PM Yes the CBC ones. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: gnu Date: 14 Apr 08 - 06:34 AM I know what ya meant, Becca. Just funnin. But, losin yer Grapes IS a tragedy. Hehehe... would they put him on with subtitles? Imagine the translation.. hahaha. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: gnu Date: 14 Apr 08 - 06:41 AM I found it! Regarding Don Cherry and his ability to speak French. It's in there. And, for anyone who isn't familiar with Don Cherry, The Cherry, Grapes... and some others not to flattering, this is a great clip. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 14 Apr 08 - 09:32 AM The late-game (far-west game) on Versus last night was CBC and I believe often will be as these play out. Worth taping to hear later-- no bloviation, just good hockey commentary, eh? ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 14 Apr 08 - 04:22 PM Don Cherry is a hoot A big heart galloot With a mouth to match and a very soft patch for all the Canadian Troops. |

Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 14 Apr 08 - 11:06 PM Its nice to be right about that series but I wish i was wrong. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 15 Apr 08 - 07:34 AM Jack, the difference this year is that the Pens were ready for the arena in Ottawa before they stepped out on the ice. Young men, not talented boys. It's pretty huge (to them) that they did it without Scary Gary. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 15 Apr 08 - 12:48 PM LOL...thanks for that link, Gnu! :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Jack the Sailor Date: 15 Apr 08 - 01:36 PM The Pens are ascending the Sens are descending. That's just the way it goes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Texas Guest Date: 15 Apr 08 - 04:25 PM Beer - damn right. Get 'em tomorrow. GO WINGS! Cheers. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Big Mick Date: 15 Apr 08 - 05:53 PM We'll be alright, lads. GO WINGS!!!All the best, Mick |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 15 Apr 08 - 06:31 PM GO WINGS! Our favorite team, next to the Pens. Even if they end up playing each other. ESPECIALLY if they both end up playing! I would LOVE to have that as the final-- that way we can celebrate at our house, either way it goes, game by game. ===== From NHL.com: The playoffs are in full swing Tuesday night with five games on the NHL's docket. A pair of 7 p.m. games features: <> the Boston Bruins trying to even their series against the Montreal Canadiens (GO HABS!) <> a leader emerging out of the Washington Capitals-Philadelphia Flyers series (GO FLYERS!) Later this evening: <> the Dallas Stars look to extend their series lead to three games against the Anaheim Ducks (GO STARS!) <> the San Jose Sharks look to get even with the Calgary Flames (GO FLAMES!) <> the Minnesota Wild play the Colorado Avalanche in Game 4 of a series in which all three games have gone to overtime (GO AVS!) Busy night, and no doggies at home to celebrate with treats-- we leave first thing in the AM for a couple of days, and the poor dogs are at the kennel already. Our ECHL team (GO JACKALS!) is in Game 3 tonight on home ice (series tied, home and home), so I hope the streamed radio doesn't buffer out while I watch the TV games-- we'll play that on the way to Harrisburg! ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Beer Date: 16 Apr 08 - 07:54 AM Another heart breaker for Boston last night. that is if your a Boston fan. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 16 Apr 08 - 09:09 AM I would think they would just be thrilled that their team turned around this year in time to GET there. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 16 Apr 08 - 09:49 AM The wheels are falling off my Caps, as expected...but I do love me some Habs and they are doing AWESOME!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 16 Apr 08 - 10:16 AM Ovechkin's first SC playoffs, right? Learning curve. Next year LOOK OUT everyone else. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Beer Date: 16 Apr 08 - 10:24 AM They win next game. No problem. They just can't go yet. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 16 Apr 08 - 11:41 AM Problem is, Ovechkin isn't the only one on the team. I don't want them to go yet, either but I've been a Caps fan for a long time..I can see it coming. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 16 Apr 08 - 12:50 PM I wouldn't count the Caps out. This Flyers team has a history of choking and Huet and Ovechkin are both the type of player that on any given night, they can have such a good game that they can carry the rest of the team to victory. Three such games and they are on to the next round. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 16 Apr 08 - 01:49 PM I hope you're right, Jack, but I've learned to remain sceptical. :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: 3refs Date: 17 Apr 08 - 09:33 AM I take out the Canadiens jacket and wear it proudly!!! Once again at this time of year I mourn the Leafs and cheer as loud as I can get away with for Les Habitants. As is the norm, the match-up with the Bruins is classic. Out of the East I can see either Montreal, New York or Pittsburgh. Out of the West I see Detroit, Detroit or Detroit. As for Sean Avery, diplomatically speaking, I'll say he's unique. And, as an On-Ice-Official with Hockey Canada I'm not sure what he did can be called unsportsmanlike-conduct. I think they may have opened Pandora's Box by making an adjustment(or clarification) to the rules regarding his actions towards Brodeur. Distracting an opposing player, while not in any way physically interfering with him and not taunting him verbally or with gestures is fine with me! |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: GUEST,Texas Guest Date: 17 Apr 08 - 12:12 PM What the hell is going on? Beer! Mooh! Help me out here, guys - what the hell is going on with the Wings? I just don't get it!!! It takes a worried man to sing a worried song,... Cheers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Beer Date: 18 Apr 08 - 12:02 PM It don't look good Bobert. I listened to the game last night and the Capitals lost a good one. One that was so important to them. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: Becca72 Date: 18 Apr 08 - 12:45 PM A few years ago when I was watching Cristobal Huet play in the AHL in Manchester, New Hampshire I thought he was a punk. My opinion changed last night. He was incredible. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 18 Apr 08 - 01:21 PM Devils, Ducks facing elimination tonight At 7:30 p.m. the New York Rangers will try to eliminate the New Jersey Devils and either the Detroit Red Wings or Nashville Predators will grab a lead in their series at Joe Louis Arena. At 10:30 p.m., the Anaheim Ducks will try to stave off elimination when they host the Dallas Stars. (NHL.com) GO RANGERS! GO STARS! ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Lord Stanley's Cup From: wysiwyg Date: 19 Apr 08 - 09:41 AM Bye-bye Marty O'Fart Farty..... I'd rather the Pens would have been able to draw NJ next because we usually have so much fun easily beating Brodeur, and Lundqvist we have a little more trouble with, but I do like to see Marty lose it. Rangers Avery takes final swipe at Brodeur And I think I know why the Ducks have been having so much trouble with the Stars in that series-- Pronger made a really stupid "Your Career, Dead"-type comment for the cameras right after he came off the last goon-suspension, and I think the league may have had a word with him that is inhibiting his "playing style" as he called it. This also probably explains one reason he was so eager to get out of Edmonton not so long ago-- as I recall, they didn't let him play his preferred style there, either. However, the Ducks are still alive. Anaheim Ducks keep series alive with 5-2 victory over Dallas Stars ~S~ |
