Well, here I go again! It must be time to add to my life list of Mudcatters. On August 18th I am on my way to Gettysburg to drop off my daughter at college. From there I will run down to West Virginia to visit CarolC and then up to Mid Pennsylvania for a visit with WYSIWYG. Not sure about what path to take back to Maine but I'll work it out.

Who else can I visit on my way home?

Naemanson, if you have the time, you might want to make a detour to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Lovely town, great history It's a national historical park, full of great exhibits, and you can walk the Appalachian trail from there through three states in about 20 minutes! (H.F. borders W. Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland).

Jaque, I do that every time I go through G'burg. My daughter enjoys that area too. My great-great grandfather Benjamin Graham fought with the 5th Mass. Artillery just outside of the peach orchard. His diary makes some fascinating reading. He was wounded once by a Confederate round and then again by the Union sergeant who was binding that wound. It seems a shell went off nearby as the sergeant was cutting the sleeve of his coat. The sergeant jumped and stabbed old ben with the knife. Fortunately he didn't do too much damage.

Sins, I don't know Allan and he hasn't showed up on this thread. Carol and I have been talking and I want to meet the living breathing 3D person behind the emails. I would love to meet any Catters who are out there and want to meet me.

Art, I think that wormhole may not quite do the trick this time but stand by. I need to make a trip out to your neck of the woods soon and you are one of the prime stops on my list. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to swap puns with a grand master.

Chanteyranger, I visited Harper's Ferry a few times in the 1970's with my sister. It is a lovely town and great historical site. I don't know how far Carol is from there but we may be able to squeeze in a visit.

Here I am. I just spent three lovely days at the Maine Arts Festival. Five performances over three days with a different set each time. Wears me out just remembering it.

Well, I am about to roll and go out of Shepherdstown. Thanks to Carol for a lovely visit and a grand tour of the town. I have seen the canal lock, the muddy (polluted) Potomac, the Great Hall, and most impressively, the Rumsey Boat. The futon was very comfortable and breakfast delicious. I hereby promise not to tell the tale of your deep sleep and how you got us lost in your own town. And I will never reveal the conversational subject (SEX) that got you so flutstered that you started reading the map upside down. Wait, NO! Carol don't push me away from the keybo....

Don't listen to him! I am completely innocent! I wasn't asleep! It was a drug induced haze! I am after all coming down with a cold....

Ahem...

I don't know who wrote that. I don't think I know that person...

...anyway, Brett left about ten minutes ago, and he said he thinks he should be arriving at the sitting pool in about five hours. But it could be five hours give or take one or two hours.

It was wonderful meeting Brett face to face, and he's a hell of a singer (and an even better story teller, in my opinion). He sang a beautiful song a capella, and he really belted it out. The neighbors thought he was beating on me and they called the cops. We smoothed it out with a little bribe and he only had to spend about an hour in the town jail. He struck up a nice conversation with the female guard who seemed quite smitten. I think he's leaving at least one broken heart behind here in Shepherdstown. Such is life.

Susan, thank you for the invitation. Regretably, I won't be able to make it because my son is coming to visit me later today. It will be my last visit with him before he heads off to college. Another time, perhaps.

Have fun with the little gathering, I know Brett is really looking forward to his visit with those of you up there in Pennsylvania.

Well, thanks to my *!!@*^&!! ability to wake up at 5:30 AM on weekdays I have slept and am refreshed(?).

Thanks so much to CarolC and WYSIWYG for their splendid hospitality. In the last three days I have covered over 1600 miles and I couldn't have done it without you two and the support you gave me.

And I will not be traveling for a wile now that this trip is over. It will take some time to recover from this one.
