Because I am from Mississippi. That shows you how deprived I am. (Somewhat depraved, too!) We poor Mississippians are a bit behind everyone else. In fact, we just got Bob Dylan's new album, New Morning, in stores last week. BTW, what exactly is a CD?

Mick, INOBU has never met a race or nationality he isn't connected to by blood....and that's just in THIS life!

He's probably just as irritating as Joe Hill, WB duBois, Gurley Flynn, and Big Bill Heywood were in THEIR time! Shit maybe he WAS them!

Gotta stop...don't NEED another CD. Larry I take that back. Send me another and I'll put it in the right mailbox at CIUT. Much easier than looking up some stupid address.

Rick (even duller in my past lives)

I'm almost certain I don't want one, since I haven't read the "New to Folk Music..." thread, and I don't know any of ya and, being from Texxass, I couldn't possibly appreciate your music or understand yer strange accents and the flag of Celtland ain't one of the six that ever flew over the Lone Star state...

BTW, it's the FLANDERS and Swann song, "I'm a Gnu?" -- and, of course I remember it (and everything on "At the Drop of a Hat" and "At the Drop of Another Hat").

Oh, and I wouldn't like a CD cuz I never listen to that kind of music and besides I really can't stand New Yorkers. (They let you export that stuff?)

I wouldn't want one because my son, who is 19 and the ultimate arbiter of taste in music (just ask him) would just steal it from me and it would disappear into that morass of chaos which he laughingly calls **his room*! I'd have to go stand on ratty pairs of jeans that haven't fit him (or been washed) since 1998 in order to hear it....besides, it might give him some perspective on life as WE know it, and alter his precious consciousness!

I don`t want to win a free Sork Dork CD because it would look like I am a greedy, because I didn`t write larry to order one for cash, but now where there is a chance to get one free, I come up and shout "here". And everyone knows folk musicians are always in need of funds. But when I say that I don`t want one everyone will understand that I want one because I have to say so in order to have a chance to get one and Larry thats not fair you force me to lie no matter what I say about your cd and... *sob* I... I mean If I say that I don`t one and Larry sends me one because of this I don`t deserve it because I didn`t want it anyway, and I would feel guilty everytime I listened to it because Larry would have been so kind while I had said I don`t want his CD which surely has made him sad, I mean who wants to hear noone wants his CD? And thats very unfair of you Larry, you make me lie and make me feel guilty and... *BIG SOB* NO I DON`T WANT THIS CD BECAUSE IT IS UNFAIR OF YOU TO TREAT ME THIS WAY! *turning around and crying*

Well, we ran out of envelopes. So the last winners are Bill D. and Rollo. In short, everyone from here up wins, and can send me a PM and will get a CD. For all who come after, thanks for the effort, but we are at the bottom of the barrel, just the place for Sorcha Dorcha some say, and in fact, that would have won them a CD. Now, Larry being as nutz as he is, will likely run another contest one of these days, so keep looking, or if ya get really ansy, send him a request to find out how to get one - other than the prise give away. BUT! Thanks again all, it was fun, like christmass in what ever the month this is, Marvember?

Wow, Jerry....Arms Akimbo! Now there's a name from the past. Didn't he used to work for Legs Diamond?

I'm really gonna throw a monkey wrench in here and probably seriously piss off INOBU...but here goes...

I'm a fan of this band...and not because I hang on every word from Larry's pen on Mudcat. As a matter of a fact, sometimes I think he expects far too much from the 'industry types' considering the music he writes.

Nope, I'm a fan primarily because of the 'originality in concept' of Snorkle Dorkle. Some (not all) of the music addresses issues simply not touched on by bands in general. Singer songwriters can and do write about political issues that concern them, but in 14 years of doing a radio show, I've never (that I can remember) recieved a CD (or vinyl) for airplay that dealt with hard news stories, and important social issues (other than "the troubles") USING a traditional Celtic band format.

So.......I'm gonna make a suggestion. If you REALLY like Larry's CD, and it becomes a part of your listening collection....AND if you can afford it..AND if you really want to...send him a few bucks, to help make the next one.

Sorry Larry.

Rick

I don't want a Sorcha Dorcha CD because I got a dirty-mix, unfinished, rough cut demo a few months back which sounded great, and I'd be afraid to hear how good it is now, with all the added instruments in the final mix. Plus, I'd probably have to send him one of mine.

Jon, I did indeed "burn" a CD in the microwave. The time has to be real short. I've got an older one with mechanical timers so I couldn't be sure of an exact time but the 5 seconds called for should be about right. I think mine was about 10 seconds.

You get blue flashing at first then a silver white. It looks like the blue is what you want. After my last post I stuck the same CD back in and only got the silver-white with smoke ths time. When I pulled it out, instead of having more arc paths it seems there were more holes. Also, since I didn't have a paper cup I used a shot glass to support the CD.

Another trick to try is to take a pint beer glass filled with water, put a light bulb in it base down, and microwave it.The bulb will light up without harming the microwave.

Now to try the plasmoid experiment.

Oh, and now we return you to Larry's thread which is still in progress.

Gee, Rick... I can't ever be mad at a fellow to broadcasts my rantings about Canadian treatment of Natives to a Canadian radio audience! Speaking of which, Yvette's Song? Played it in North Carolina, and believe it or not, there was a Montreal Radio host there, who KNEW Yvette Michele as well. For thouse who haven't heard the song... Yvette's song (on the CD winging its way to you...)is about the forced removal of Native children in the late fourties through the sixties, a forced assimilation process, now being replaced by destruction of native hunting land with similer results... So, Now Yvette's Song is getting air play in Montreal as well.
Tell ya what Rick, if some folks do feel called on to send a check made out to yours truely, (not the band, we're too poor to have a Sorcha Dorcha account) then a few more free CDs will be sent out, spreading the word that folk music CAN still be about what's happening today, not a hundred years ago! For you folk purests, our CD also has some songs from two hundred and even four hundred years ago as well, so don't panic and tell the post man to send back your CD unplayed!
Again thanks to all, the contest has been really fun, and for the late entries... don't give up hope. After I come back from the post office I am going to run the numbers on my future ability to feed Genie and the phone company, and most likely there will be a few more free CDs awarded early next week... so if you still have rotten things to say about the band... keep at it!
Affectionately yours,
Larry

England next, with a big bunch, but a few less CDs in the mail, Followed by Canada - 2, and Austrailia, Germany and Ireland tied with one each, Honorable mention to Iceland, who got one last week for Scarpi's birthday and New Guinnie, which if anyone from there enters will win for sure. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY! The postage was 30 cents a package cheeper than I thought it would be! SO... here is the challenge. If we get enough entries to keep this going until next week, (a few more bucks coming in for yours truely next monday...) AND, I am able to pay my phone bill so I can read these... and we get a few as good enteries as SharonA, who obviously DOES know First day is called by you heathen non-Quaker head bashers ... "Sunday" because she secretly looked it up in Faith and Practice or whouldn't know Faith and Practice from a Dorky Sorky CD... WELL there is a strong likelyhood that Monday week will find me (second day that is in our Friendly Plain speaking of course...) at the post office, like a demented Santa Clause, mailing out a few more CDs... we will see if my good wife does not stop me before I start mailing out the furnature..... Happy as Larry,
