This event is open to anyone who wants to come, within reason
(no terrorists, no viscious dogs, etc) I am also inviting the
folks on Pal Talk, the local folk music society, the old time
fiddlers, contra dancers, and those who attend the music jams
at the local cafe, and people from area folk music radio show
--no membership cards to any certain organization required!
And not strictly mud cat members, either.

OK, so is this a definite "go?" And when does the 'camp' officially open? I need to buy a plane ticket by the end of this month (to save $), and I need to know whether to make Portland, OR, or the bay area my take-off point. (I'll drive from Portland to the Bay area if the gathering is really gonna happen, and fly to southern CA from there.)

this is at a public campground so it is available
any time you want to show up...I am going to be
organizing a community blood drive and other stuff
so i am not sure if i will be able to make it friday
or not. Hard to tell what will be happenig that far
ahead of time. I will try to make it friday night.
I guess we should organize some pot luck, or other
plan? I can bring barbeque grill and such, though
i don't care to eat meat, but i can't tell others
what to eat! I hope we will all eat, drink and be
merry!! If anyone has any ideas about how to plan
meals, tasks, or other essentials, let me know!@
otherwise we can do it completely free-form and
hope for the best. There are picnic tables there,
and a shelter for the tables. and i can bring my
r.v. and an extra tent or two . Portland is about
10 hours away, san fransico is about 4 hours. We
have plenty of time to plan specifics, i just wanted
to circle the weekend before it got filled up with
other activities...keep in touch...

I'll bring fresh veggies (great on the grill) and such; I can hit the farmer's market on Friday morning next to my office. There should be a plethora of good stuff by early June.

I think as long as folks know to bring stuff and we get the basics covered, we'll be fine. It's not like there won't be a grocery store down the road if we really need something.

The closest store is 6 or 7 miles away, and has basic stuff,
nothing fancy, no sprouts for instance. It takes about 15
minutes to get there. Next closest are in town--Oroville,
Paradise and Chico are all nearly an hour away..so you might
want to come with supplies unless you want to commute to the
store or town..the Dome Store or Canyon Lakes Market is at
the corner of highway 70 and Concow Road. There is also a
hardware store, post office and "mini-mart" just east of that intersection on hiway 70. I am making up invites to pass around
at the old time fiddle contest and other events between now and
then so we should have an interesting group. yipee!

Latest info: a neighbor with a G.P.S. unit finds the
campground to be located at this latitude and longitude:
39.46.25 north latitude
and 121.30.28 west latitude.
The elevation is 2,090 ft.
Just so no one ends up in Butte
Montana trying to find us!

The camp ground is a small family-owned, private space. they will have the main pic-i-nic pavillion reserved for us, and the spaces are not all marked out or paved, just a bunch of spaces by a mountain lake, in the tall trees. very casual. not plug-ins or running water at each site, but
then a great place to get away from t.v., traffic, pollution, and city lights and noises!! and make music!! if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

What do you do in yellowstone (jellystone?)
the Concow tribe is a sub-tribe of the
Maidu Nation, Neighbors of the Paiutes
to the East, Yana and Wintu to the North, Pomo to
the West, and I think it is the Nissenan
to the south. IT is only a coupole of hours
from nevada city. I often go there on the
back road past Bullard's Bar Reservoir.
If they are in the North SanJuan Ridge
area, this route is easy. and a beautiful
drive. Ahh0thr fragrance of Kitkadizzy
fills the air on the Yuba river side!

Actaully this is 2 weekends after strawberry music fest!
(Wild Iris Festival in Booneville is on may 30,31, June 1)
rsvp to me at [e-mail] to let me know if you will
be planning to come. Some mentioned wanting to come on
Fri. If so, I can go and set up that day, so that those
arriving then will find the campground ready for their arrival!
I haver been posting invites on Paltalk and passing out
fliers locally, so hope to get a good mix of musicians!
And listeners. I also have just received a bunch of
Mud Cat patches and order forms for t-shirts and c.d.'s
so we can find a way for this get together to benefit the
'CAT ! There may be a paltalk member flying in to sacramento
and looking for a ride up....any car pool room available?

Nancy and I are campground attendents up at Canyon Lodge Campground @ 8,000 feet, elevation. We get to open the campground and shut it down for winter (which comes in short samples occasionally during the season). We'll also be doing some "unoficial" campfire singing and playing. It's a 'working' vacation.

Naw not on North San Juan ridge, they are up Red Dog Road towards Banner mountain but they are mobile. Sister plays the autoharp, brother-in-law plays guitar also builds them as hobby. He's a Scot frm the Far North (Canada-eh). Nice folks.

I haven't decided what day yet, but I will be happy to do taxi duty in Sacramento; and maybe SF, depending on when it is and if I can get over that way. I may leave Friday night, either that or Saturday morning.

Folks are also welcome to crash at my place overnight if needed the day before or after. The cat loves company. It's a small place, but there's always room on the floor.

pot luck burrito bar for sat. lunch....tortillas, cheese, beans, rice, sour cream, avaocados, salsa, celantro, etc. could be fun! I can bring some giant tortillas to wrap it all up in...
also i will suggest that spaghetti might be a good item for Sat. eve.
meal. sauce ingredients could be shared--
mushrooms, peppers, tomato sauce,
olives, parmesan cheese,etc. and salad. and garlic bread...
(no meat for me, please, but could be added for those who
require it,..).
What does any one think of this idea?
there is a cafe a few miles away if folks don't want to do food prep.
dish washing, etc. There are fire pits available at the camp ground.

Your email is bouncing Laurel, but I plan to attend this weekend.

Community food is generally out of the question for me, as I'm deathly allergic to onions. Ya'll have fun with spaghetti and such and don't mind me, as I'd rather not be making any trips to the hospital. I planned to bring some zucchini and other squashes for grilling plus some buffalo burgers and corn on the cob. (Enough to share some.) Provided we have a grill up there...? Open flame is fine with me, but do the firepits have grills over them?

If I have time Friday afternoon, I will gather the stuff for my awesome onion-less guacamole.

AFAIK, I am not giving anyone a ride or providing Sacramento hospitality. Speak now, or you'll miss out. So, is this shenndig happening Friday eve or not until Saturday morning?

i had no idea the cat was back...
i spent many hours fixing my e-mail
so it should not bouncy bouncy any more..
i just got back from teh farmer's market
in chico with fresh celantro, tortillas,
avocados, limes and lemons for beverege
don't ya know??!! tomato sauce, spaghetti,
sweet corn, charcoal, and i will bring a
grill too.
i will bring some apple juice, but it
would be great to have other drinks..
fruit-y sodas, natural-type ones??
if anyone fgets insired and passes
bya source of such like items on the way..
sometimes costco has multi packs of hansens..
that is waht i was gonna try to get but the
store closed on me....died get salsa, sour cream,
olives, vegetarian beans, and i will make rice, too.
bring ice!! I will try to be set up there by 5 pm
there will be a banner on the camp ground entrance that
says butte folk music society. i am so excited!!
