Hi Folks!
Finally able to have a look at the Mudcat site and catch up. Since the fantastic Euro Gathering in Hull in May I've been bogged down with work, passing my driving test (hoorah) and getting ready for moving over to Hull (double hoorah!). But I've been fortunate to get a day off today and I've been able to start editing the film that I did for the gathering. If you were there you probably wondered what I was doing standing behind a camera! Well the mystery is finally revealed... I usually do this stuff for work so I've got equipment of a broadcastable standard and I'll put together a video (or DVD if you wish) of the main concert and a few other music sessions. There'll be a excellent range of talent featured: Cara, Hissy Fit, The Foolish Virgins, Dave Bryant and Essex Girl, Colin and Karon Thompson and Bloke in the corner (apologies to anyone that I may have missed).I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in purchasing a copy of the film. It'll just amount to the cost of a blank VHS or DVD, the post and packing and a small donation to Mudcat. It'll probably be around £5 but I still have to check out the expences. Does that sound of interest???

Yes, I'd like to have the film, DVD would be nice (I don't have a video player, just a DVD player).

Problem: method of payment - international transfers are quite expensive, especially if there is a currency change in between...

Mudguard - you don't know how true that is! I was out on the Hull roads for the first time on my own yesterday. Don't worry to much Hullites I'm not too bad - but if you want to avoid my driving I'll be back on Monday and Tuesday for work!!!
I'm sure we can work something out about the payment.

Didn't have a chance to say how lovely and enjoyable the gathering was. Sarah and I really enjoyed it. It was excellent to see old friends and new. It was excellent to introduce Sarah to such a wonderful and talented group of people. Special thank you goes to Greg and Eric for all their hard work - they also helped organise me to go to the Ireland gathering and I'm so grateful.

Plenty salaams Kate, and add my praise to the heap of incredulous well-wishers. It is bad news indeed, as your driving test entry fees are included as a steady income stream for East Yorkshire. The Council Tax will go through the roof.

I wondered what that thing was. I thought you were playing it. Yes please, can I have one? It would much more sense if Andreas hopped on a plane for 49p return (That's roughly €57)and paid you in lovely fat Pounds.

It's splendid to see how our BBC spends the license fee. I'd gladly sell my aerophone to get a copy of this!

DVD = Digital Video Disc (what a CD is compared to a music cassette, is a DVD compared to a video tape)

A DVD is the same size as a CD but has a much greater capacity. You need a DVD player to see the film on it.

For those in Germany who want the film:

Kate said (in PMs) that it is okay if I paid the full price to the Mudcat (via Paypal where I have an account). Kate would then deduct the costs for DVD, stamps, and packing for my film from the money she gets from local people.

She also agreed that you (i.e. Wolfgang, Susanne, Wilfried) could send the money to me as well - I'd then send one big lump of money to Max. Thus we would avoid high transaction fees, transactions within Germany are AFAIK much cheaper than those to Great Britain...

If you are interested, send me a PM.

Richard, if for you it is cheaper to send Euro money from Brussels to Munich than pounds to Hull, you are also welcome to join.

I got mine! It is brilliant. I have watched little else for weeks. I don't remember the Humber being quite so sunny and to be honest, I wouldn't have casted ol' big-nuts Dave Hasseloff and Pammy Anderson as Skip and Fibulamatic. SHOCK! HORROR! You will not believe this but I have finally got the film done. I know it's been a very long time but believe me its been a bumpy ride!!! Unfortunately one of my colleagues chucked away a couple of the tapes not realising some of the pub session material that I was going to use was on it. Fortunately I have the concert and have edited together nearly forty minutes of that.

The world premiere of this epic film will air at the Ireland Gathering in Portaferry. I should be able to get a few DVDs and Videos for the trip and I wondered who is coming from overseas to Portaferry that wants one. It will be easier to give it to you during the weekend instead of organising Paypal accounts and post and Packing if I'll see you anyway. Let me know and I'll try to make sure I have one available to you. For everyone else I'll send copies to you soon after.

Hi Kate - since then I've invested in the new technology and now have a DVD player...so a DVD would be preferable.
Have to wait till you're back over Barrow way, though,I guess, as I won't be in Portaferry this year.

I saw two video tapes with a "Eurogathering" label - but I did not see if there was anything recorded on it and if so what.

But Kate promised to create DVDs in the next few days and then send 4 of them to me.

Once I get them, I will send one to you, Wilfried (unless it is a few days before the Euro-Gathering 05 ;-)), and bring the 2 copies for Susanne and Wolfgang to the Euro-Gathering 05.

Stumbling into this thread again by accident reminded me: Has anyone seen or heard about the promised DVDs? Kate? Or have you been promoted to a more stressful job inside Auntie Beeb, and the DVD will now have to wait till your retirement? (Which would be unfortunate as by that time I may have acquired a DVD player - on the other hand I may not be able to use it any more, being reduced to a pile of ash ...:-))
