Subject: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Kate Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:25 AM Hi Folks! Finally able to have a look at the Mudcat site and catch up. Since the fantastic Euro Gathering in Hull in May I've been bogged down with work, passing my driving test (hoorah) and getting ready for moving over to Hull (double hoorah!). But I've been fortunate to get a day off today and I've been able to start editing the film that I did for the gathering. If you were there you probably wondered what I was doing standing behind a camera! Well the mystery is finally revealed... I usually do this stuff for work so I've got equipment of a broadcastable standard and I'll put together a video (or DVD if you wish) of the main concert and a few other music sessions. There'll be a excellent range of talent featured: Cara, Hissy Fit, The Foolish Virgins, Dave Bryant and Essex Girl, Colin and Karon Thompson and Bloke in the corner (apologies to anyone that I may have missed).I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in purchasing a copy of the film. It'll just amount to the cost of a blank VHS or DVD, the post and packing and a small donation to Mudcat. It'll probably be around £5 but I still have to check out the expences. Does that sound of interest??? Kate. x |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Dave Bryant Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:51 AM I'd be interested - why not set the price higher and give a larger slice to mudcat. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: MudGuard Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:52 AM Congratulations for passing the driving test! (I am glad I live faaaaaaaaaaar away ;-) ). Yes, I'd like to have the film, DVD would be nice (I don't have a video player, just a DVD player). Problem: method of payment - international transfers are quite expensive, especially if there is a currency change in between... |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Kate Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:54 AM Excellent! I may do that. Wanted to see who would be interested. Any suggestions welcome... |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Bassic Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:55 AM Can I have one please? Especially if I am NOT on it!! :-), I hadnt been in "make up" and my Peter Levy tan was somewhat faded. Sorry to confuse non Hullites with an obscure BBC "Look North" reference,(East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire edition) ;-) I`m sure its a syrup!!, any "inside info" Kate? |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Oaklet Date: 02 Jun 04 - 11:59 AM Katex, Put me down for a copy please and Bloke in the Corner for 4 Betamax versions. Have you missed a vital 7 from the recommended retail price? And another thing, if you have made me look fat again, I'll sue you for £57. Well done on the driving test. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Kate Date: 02 Jun 04 - 12:02 PM Mudguard - you don't know how true that is! I was out on the Hull roads for the first time on my own yesterday. Don't worry to much Hullites I'm not too bad - but if you want to avoid my driving I'll be back on Monday and Tuesday for work!!! I'm sure we can work something out about the payment. Didn't have a chance to say how lovely and enjoyable the gathering was. Sarah and I really enjoyed it. It was excellent to see old friends and new. It was excellent to introduce Sarah to such a wonderful and talented group of people. Special thank you goes to Greg and Eric for all their hard work - they also helped organise me to go to the Ireland gathering and I'm so grateful. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 02 Jun 04 - 12:05 PM film sounds good, is there any hamsters in it? |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Kate Date: 02 Jun 04 - 12:12 PM Of course you can Bassic. I might divulge some gossip at a price - £57!!! Oaklet - Sold: £57 to you it is!!! Don't worry about the image Oaklet - I'm sure the makeup artist did a grand job! John: No hamsters, just lots of whelks and lard!!! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: YorkshireYankee Date: 02 Jun 04 - 12:43 PM Forget hamsters, jOhn, what about *whelks*? Kate, good to hear from you; congrats on passing the driving test! My husband says I can have a copy of the film (as a DVD, please) as long as it *doesn't* have Daniel Day Lewis in it... Cheers, YY P.S. £5 is extremely reasonable. I agree with Dave; increase the price a bit & give a bit more to Mudcat. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Skipjack K8 Date: 02 Jun 04 - 04:21 PM I read that bit on the diminished responsibility paragraph concerning driving as 'I'm sure we can work something out about the pavement' Plenty salaams Kate, and add my praise to the heap of incredulous well-wishers. It is bad news indeed, as your driving test entry fees are included as a steady income stream for East Yorkshire. The Council Tax will go through the roof. I wondered what that thing was. I thought you were playing it. Yes please, can I have one? It would much more sense if Andreas hopped on a plane for 49p return (That's roughly €57)and paid you in lovely fat Pounds. It's splendid to see how our BBC spends the license fee. I'd gladly sell my aerophone to get a copy of this! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Bassic Date: 02 Jun 04 - 05:00 PM oh...forgot to mention, DVD please. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Susanne (skw) Date: 02 Jun 04 - 07:09 PM Kate, congratulations! I'm sure you handle your car as expertly as your camera, and I'm not afraid of going back to Hull to see you some day! Also, I'd like a copy of the film (DVD), please, even though I haven't got anything to play it on as yet. All the best to you and Sarah (and everybody else who was there on that fun-packed weekend)! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: mooman Date: 02 Jun 04 - 07:19 PM Dear Kate, Welcome to Mudcat! Excellent work and well done with the driving test too! Yes please for a DVD. Does it include the scundering of Kate that is the other Kate (Fibs)? Peace and love, moo (Richard) |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Kate Date: 03 Jun 04 - 07:10 AM Hello to you all, Good to hear so much interest. I'll be working out costs over the next couple of days and will let you know as soon as poss. Could you all send me a PM with your address and whether you want a VHS or DVD so that I can send out the films when they're ready. The main special feature is Dr Kate's special ceremony Mooman - all caught just in time before my tape ran out - phew! Thanks Susanne. It would be lovely to see you in Hull - might even give you a lift! Yorks Yankee: The film will include Daniel Day Lewis, Sting, Linda Lusardi and Oaklet! Greg: My new city centre pad includes a nice kerb especially for the parking of my car - flat road is just not challenging enough for my parking skills!!! |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 03 Jun 04 - 07:53 AM I'm interesting as well [jOhn]. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 03 Jun 04 - 07:54 AM PS= Wahts a DVD?, some kind of wireles with pictures machine? |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: MudGuard Date: 03 Jun 04 - 08:00 AM John, we all know you are interesting ;-) DVD = Digital Video Disc (what a CD is compared to a music cassette, is a DVD compared to a video tape) A DVD is the same size as a CD but has a much greater capacity. You need a DVD player to see the film on it. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: MudGuard Date: 03 Jun 04 - 08:21 AM For those in Germany who want the film: Kate said (in PMs) that it is okay if I paid the full price to the Mudcat (via Paypal where I have an account). Kate would then deduct the costs for DVD, stamps, and packing for my film from the money she gets from local people. She also agreed that you (i.e. Wolfgang, Susanne, Wilfried) could send the money to me as well - I'd then send one big lump of money to Max. Thus we would avoid high transaction fees, transactions within Germany are AFAIK much cheaper than those to Great Britain... If you are interested, send me a PM. Richard, if for you it is cheaper to send Euro money from Brussels to Munich than pounds to Hull, you are also welcome to join. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 03 Jun 04 - 02:53 PM Put me down for a DVD please, Kate. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Wilfried Schaum Date: 03 Jun 04 - 03:35 PM And me for a DVD too, please. My wife has won a player in the raffles, and we have to put it to service (SOON!) Cheerio Wilfried |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Skipjack K8 Date: 03 Jun 04 - 06:50 PM Could I have a copy please, Mudguard? Betamax, with a free box of super-absorbent tummy wipes. I'm coming to Germany Wednesday week so get the kettle on. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: MudGuard Date: 03 Jun 04 - 06:52 PM Sorry, Greg, but I am out of town on Wednesday whelk, carrying a 57 pound backpack ;-) |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Eric the Viking Date: 03 Jun 04 - 07:13 PM Hiya Kate. Hope the birthday was good for you. Glad you passed the driving test.Does that mean you and Sarah will be able to play dodgems on the motorway? Would love a copy on DVD if possible. Will see you and Shrek soon. And would love to get us all together before ye move to the last bastion of civilisation in the world. love n peace. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: YorkshireYankee Date: 03 Jun 04 - 09:11 PM The film will include Daniel Day Lewis, Sting, Linda Lusardi and Oaklet! Oh dear, my husband is *not* going to be happy about this! ;-) |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Fibula Mattock Date: 04 Jun 04 - 04:53 AM Hullo Kate-who-is-Katherine! (and forgive me if I spelt Katherine wrong in your case - I'm a Katharine, after all). Congrats and hurrah on the driving test - does this mean Shrek will let you drive the Millennium Fuckwit?? Put me down for a dvd - I'll pay extra if you cut out the bits featuring me. Oh, and if you need a cover design, let me know and I'll abuse the facilities here and run off loads of copies... love from Kate-who-is-Fibs p.s. I think we should then start the Mudcat horror movie "Death in the Jacuzzi", featuring a troupe of virtual sleuths, the ghost of Oaklette and a cameo from Rocky the Whelk. Daniel Day Lewis is optional. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: MudGuard Date: 04 Jun 04 - 04:59 AM Put me down for a dvd - I'll pay extra if you cut out the bits featuring me. Do you really think Kate will make a different version just for you? ;-) |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: mooman Date: 04 Jun 04 - 05:22 AM Dear Kate-who-is-Fibs, After all the fuss we went to, you should be up to thon arse in curry ship wrappers and lardabilia rather than ordering customized de-scundered DVDs from Kate-who-is-Kate! Hope you are well! Love Richard P.S. If Portastock III goes ahead, The Good Lady McMoo will definitely come next time and I think I have talked An Pluiméir Ceolmhar and his good lady into coming as well. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Fibula Mattock Date: 04 Jun 04 - 05:51 AM Andy - if she cut those bits out of the master copy I'll be happy! Richard - yup, Loughstock III will go ahead if I have my way, especially if the Belgiums are invading! Dumigan's side room has been refurbished and is GORGEOUS and ripe for a session. Hopefully the hostel will still be there and be open... rumours of its demise have been greatly unsubstantiated. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Eric the Viking Date: 04 Jun 04 - 06:09 AM Dr Devil-Just the thought of you going around Tesco nicking all those lard wrappers for DVD covers makes me smile! What date next year for Portastock III? Same as this year? I'll get his lardship organised and tickets booked! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Kate Date: 04 Jun 04 - 07:17 AM ERIC - Thank you. I had a lovely birthday and thanks for the card. Sarah and I are planning to speed along the M62 from opposite ends when I move to Hull and have a gigantic dodgem meeting in the middle! - wow that sounds scary!!! YORKSHIRE YANKEE - "The film will include Daniel Day Lewis, Sting, Linda Lusardi and Oaklet! Oh dear, my husband is *not* going to be happy about this! ;-)" What not even with Linda Lusardi in it!!! KATE WHO IS FIBS - Right spelling for Katherine (only the best!)Going to try and get my own car. I've driven the Millennium Fuckwit while I was learning and lets just say Shrek is the only one it obeys!!! The cover sounds like a great idea. Hoorah for facilities! I've got something vaguely done for it but will give you a call about it. Can you PM me your no? Hey and lets start planning the next film - Daniel Day Lewis has already signed for the role - A misty loch - Portaferry sounds like the perfect location! MOOMAN - Looking forward to meeting the lovely Lady McMoo. |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Susanne (skw) Date: 04 Jun 04 - 06:11 PM Vicky, I don't think you need worry too much - DDL has got an invisible role in this film! (So has Linda Lusardi, whoever she may be.) Mudguard, thanks for offering to act as our international transfer bank. However, I haven't decided whether I might not prefer a VHS (might be easier to find a friend with a VHS than with a DVD player.) Also, I haven't paid Wolfgang back for my previous Mudcat order yet, and haven't even had time to play it!!! So, Kate, please take your time ... |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Letty Date: 22 Jun 04 - 10:32 AM Oh, to think I nearly missed this! Suits me for going on holidays. Can I order the DVD, and how do I pay from the Freestate? Letty |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Oaklet Date: 01 Jul 04 - 05:40 AM I just wondered if refreshing this might reveal news of the epic video as I am on tenterhooks. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Eric the Viking Date: 01 Jul 04 - 12:17 PM That's why you wriggle about so much when you are playing-I just wondered! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Les from Hull Date: 01 Jul 04 - 01:58 PM Actually I believe that Oaklet is one of them malfuctioning electrical robots. For instance, you never see anybody touch him with wet hands. Kate, could I be added to the VHS list please? Ta! |

Grovel grovel! Hoopefuly aim to get it finally finished over the next couple of weeks and will indeed let you all know. Extra requests have been noted down and this epic film will be out for public release in the near future. Coming to a cinema near you... |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Skipjack K8 Date: 02 Aug 04 - 11:57 AM Andy, she is flogging copies off the tailgate of the Millennium Feckwit in Sidmouth right now, but I wouldn't say anything that may jeopardize the nuddy maypole dancing we've been promised. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: MudGuard Date: 02 Aug 04 - 12:23 PM But the nekkid maypole (or even better maybavarian) dancing has been promised bei Kate who is Fibula, not by Kate BBC who is Kate ;-) |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Oaklet Date: 25 Sep 04 - 10:18 AM I got mine! It is brilliant. I have watched little else for weeks. I don't remember the Humber being quite so sunny and to be honest, I wouldn't have casted ol' big-nuts Dave Hasseloff and Pammy Anderson as Skip and Fibulamatic. But it gives me a great deal of pleasure and make no mistake. BTW, What is all that shit about about the semi-naked lifeguarding stuff, Kate-who-is-Kate? |

And Mudguard, please, stop your lecherous comments (if quite understandable) and tell me what's my share and where to pay it. Oaklet - congratulations, and I'm envious. Some weeks ago we had a big veteran-Mini-show near my home, and I was heavily reminded of you, your car, and these fine days on the banks of sweet Humber. |

Anyway, I'd be very interested in getting it as I must have missed all the adult May Day goings-on. Greg's household was perfectly respectable throughout! (Sigh!) There's no hurry about my silver disc, BTW, I'll have to buy a DVD player first! |

I know it's been a very long time but believe me its been a bumpy ride!!! Unfortunately one of my colleagues chucked away a couple of the tapes not realising some of the pub session material that I was going to use was on it. Fortunately I have the concert and have edited together nearly forty minutes of that. The world premiere of this epic film will air at the Ireland Gathering in Portaferry. I should be able to get a few DVDs and Videos for the trip and I wondered who is coming from overseas to Portaferry that wants one. It will be easier to give it to you during the weekend instead of organising Paypal accounts and post and Packing if I'll see you anyway. Let me know and I'll try to make sure I have one available to you. For everyone else I'll send copies to you soon after. But Kate promised to create DVDs in the next few days and then send 4 of them to me. Once I get them, I will send one to you, Wilfried (unless it is a few days before the Euro-Gathering 05 ;-)), and bring the 2 copies for Susanne and Wolfgang to the Euro-Gathering 05. |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Eurogathering 2004 Film! From: Susanne (skw) Date: 27 Aug 05 - 05:52 PM Stumbling into this thread again by accident reminded me: Has anyone seen or heard about the promised DVDs? Kate? Or have you been promoted to a more stressful job inside Auntie Beeb, and the DVD will now have to wait till your retirement? (Which would be unfortunate as by that time I may have acquired a DVD player - on the other hand I may not be able to use it any more, being reduced to a pile of ash ...:-)) |
