Perhaps you've not encountered the doctrine according to PeeWee Herman--I'll remind you that in his playhouse christmas special he learned that HIS LIST WAS SO LONG that the other kids weren't going to get any gifts from Santa. So he got smart and backed off and let Santa distribute the gifts as they needed to be.

A word to the wise. You're going to upset Santa if you don't get a grip. Not a pistol grip, either. Just a grip.

My house brownies, Hash & McGhee, have not reported any elf activity and since only gruel has been put out as instructed, rather than the booze that made the back courtyard a meeting and partying place for the local wee folk as was chronicled here last year, their vigil has been no fun thus far. Molly The Cat hasn't caught any strange wildlife either, and she partied with the wee ones last year and is used to them. What, if anything, could be happening amidst all this silence? I suppose I'll have to put out spirits and food again to appease the brownies and score some points. The neighbor who complained about their singalongs last year is gone. There'll be a party waiting for your elves when they get here, if they even bother, or even if they don't.
