She had the port put in today, they implanted it into her chest for the chemo. Right now she is a pretty unhappy cowgirl as it is very sore indeed.

Man that port thing hurts. She hurts worst with that then the initial surgery. Doc didn't give her pain meds. I gave her mine ... she is feeling better but boy that hurt a lot even though it is a simple procedure, they cut the muscles and insert that thing into a big vein ...

Get in touch with Lilyfestre pronto about what she did to cope with the port pain. Doc should have prescribed pain meds. Why are they so stingy with the stuff these days. Same true in UK.

Pain has to be managed to help combat depression. She has enough to feel stressed about without adding pain to the mix.

Need some endorphin producing tricks too. Natural stress and pain busters is emdolphins.

She is taking my chronic pain meds right now ... go figure why the doc wouldn't give her some. This thing hurts like crazy, she has been crying and she never cries. Insane stuff for sure

extreme dislike.   call doc now... get proper pain meds. Remember Lilyfestre had to take different kinds at different intervals to stay on top of the pain.

Kick her Doc's ass and get some more pain meds.........Somewhere along the line the "prescription addiction" seems to have taken over in some Doctor's minds and their is no good reason for it. I don't get it when it is well known that pain is a hindrance to healing. It isn't like she's 3 months out of all this and still requesting meds.

I too know you'd take it for her if you could............Here's an idea......See if she feels well enough to slap the living shit out of you by walking up to her and saying, "No pain...no gain Dear." The anger might take away the pain for a bit.............at least for her.

Get on the horn IMMEDIATELY with her medical team. There is NO excuse for not giving her pain meds. Getting my port was HORRIBLE. It DOES hurt like hell. I had lots of pain in my neck and found that something cold helped a lot. If you don't have a special bag for that kind of thing, put a bag of frozen peas in a ziploc bag and wrap a dish towel around it and tell her to leave it there as long as she can stand it.

Also, I don't know what kind of stuff she takes for chronic pain so be careful in sharing your meds with her. I don't mean to be rude but if you have to make some noise to get her some pain meds, DO IT. My oncologist told me there is NO REASON that if I had pain, I had to tell them. Sometimes people think they have to suck it up....now is NOT the time for that!!!

They also told me that getting a port was no big deal, no pain involved. BULL PUCKY!!!! Getting that port, especially when they put that 8 inch tube up the vein in my neck HURT even with all the Versa (supposed stupor inducing drug...didn't work for me) they gave me. I am hoping that her doctors knocked her out for this procedure as it's an ugly one.

They taped my arms to the table, smushed my breast so hard that I had a black and blue the size of a football for 2 weeks (gotta get the skin TIGHT so they can put the port in) AND they taped my head to one side so I couldn't move....tape across the face SUCKS. I don't know why they don't just knock you out for it..it would be eaier for everyone involved.

I'm with Bobert...GRRRRRRRRRRRR. Get on the phone. Get your wife what she needs. There is no excuse for no pain meds and don't let them give you the prescription Tylenol..that stuff is useless. I don't remember what pain med I had but it was one of the following: Percocet, Oxycodine or a oxymorphone (something like that...morphine)...it is painful and she deserves to have some relief.

Don't forget the cold pack. I bet her neck is killing her. If you remember the video I sent, you know what they did. :(

One positive....it DOES make getting chemo SO MUCH EASIER. Tell her to ask for a Lidacaine cream and patch. Put it on an hour and a half before her lab work and then she will hardly feel when they access her port. They also have a spray she can ask for right before they access her port but I don't think it worked as well, it smells awful and makes your mouth taste like....well..you don't want to know.

Tell Linda to call anytime. I will listen or share or whatever she wants. Also, Zofran is a fantastic med for chemo induced nausea. Ask for it!!!

Feeling much better today, I wacked her good last night with the pain meds. She got up said wow, then went to work much to my chagrin. She is a teacher. She called and said she feels much better. Doc called in some pain meds .. yea after the fact ^&%$. One good thing about being in chronic pain as I am in all the time, at least I have them.
