Hey guys haven't posted for a long time :)

wonder if you could help me out tho. I have recently started learning some jigs and reels and the likes.

whats the name of the theme tune at the start of mike hardings show?

I read a post saying what it was on here along time ago, but can't seem to find it.

It's usually named in the playlist--there are two, I think, every week, one by Nathalie McMaster and one by Nic Jones, always the same.

The "Top Ten" is read out with Nick Jones playing "Planxty Davis" [which is also my mobile phone ring tone :-)]

It is from the Album "Penguin Eggs" which I think is on Topic.

Sorry guys i'm not talking about the top ten countdown, I mean the start of the show intro. if you check out the video i linked its the second tune in the piece they play.

To be honest i'm not sure he's played it in recent weeks, so he may not play it anymore.

The opening 'theme tune' was Catharsis played by Natalie MacMaster from her album No Boundaries. Mike Harding's show seems to have dispensed with the opening tune of late. I've heard the tune called The Catharsis occasionally.

It's that rare beast, a tune which naturally wants to be in G minor. All the session players in US are into it, apparently.

Catharsis was written by fiddler Amy Cann, who I thought was British because I found out she lives in a place called Putney. However, the Putney she lives in is in America, in Vermont.
