inspired by a recent thread about kilns,
and pottery and ceramics and firing and glazes,
here is the response re: items of clothing
and plaids and tartans and sporrans

oops--should either put this in b.s.
or make it a musical thread by adding
info about pipers and others making
music in kilts...

http://www.tamos.net/~rhay/kilts.html
http://bagpipestore.net/
http://www.argyllbagpipes.com/ -- page loads with music

I've taken the liberty of turning open mike's URLs into hotlinks (with a little editing) as follows;
Wikipedia on Kilts
American video on "utility kilts"
Online shop for kilts
Online shop for "sports kilts"

and the 'music' links are;
Article "Of kilts and bagpipes"
Shop for bagpipes and chanters
'Moog & pipes' ad for pipes and plaids

Cheers, Rowan

The mock-u-mercials at the Utilikilt site are worth wasting a few minutes on.

Gordon Potts offered to tell me where I could purchase a RED kilt.

Now funnily enough - there are some clothes I wouldn't wear.

Oh gawd, I hadn't looked at the Utilikilt site in years. Got lost in the mock-ads. Anyone else watch the one with Bush, "Let Freedom Swing?" Hilarious!!

Yeah, but, has anyone managed to BUY a Utilikilt lately? My sweetie and I have tried ordering one on line, several times, and have even been to the store in Seattle, but nothing is ever in stock in his size (granted, it's not what you might call a standard size...).

Guess I'll try to call and talk with a human- emailing got no result, either.

I ordered mine at the Seattle store in May (I was there for Folklife) - a size 42 beer-gut-cut. It arrived in about 2 weeks.
