On Tom Paxton #6, he does a great song called "Saturday Night".....in my view, much better than "Wasn't That a Party?" which was of the same genre/theme. Anyway, one of the lines in "Saturday Night" is "And somebody's ordering scotch and coke", a symbol of how debauched the evening was (and was about to become......"George is out calling a cab with the stranger who still has her tongue in his ear"). Similiarly, putting single malt scotch in soup, in stew, adding it to milk, drinking it with ice, etc. etc., are all completely blasphemous as I'm sure John McKenzie would agree. My dear departed mother had an old 78" vinyl record of Sir Harry Lauder and on it he did "Just a Wee Doch an Doris". One of the lines, and a great test if you have nipped too much at that single malt is, "and if ye' can say it's a braw' bricht' moon lich't nich't, then it's alright you can!"! Good night, all!

Damn, I didn't know you were a tattle tale. I'll have to be careful.

Oh! BTW, I just finished looking at about 300 pictures taken by the official photographer. There are some great shots. I will be giving the Webmaster(Fred)a copy tomorrow and ask that he reduces it a bit. They will be posted on the festival web site. I will let you all know when it happens. Lets say in 4 or 5 days.

I was kiddin with the Campbell's Marc. I wonder about a good home made stew though? My wife makes great stew. Maybe when she is not looking I'll add a few ounces. And if it begins to taste real good I'll have a Scotch as a chaser.

It was shark's fin soup that we were having that day...but I find it works well in most Chinese style soups, with some kind of meat broth and barely cooked vegetables . Don't know about Campbell's soups tho'.

That posting from Murdoch about the lady from Lake Louise afflicted by fleas may be an indication that he has currently discovered a bottle of the aforementioned Ardbeg.........just as long as he leaves out the milk, for heaven's sake! Knowing Bruce, it's probably whole milk and we all know how unhealthy that is for you.........

I distinctly recall us demolishing the better part of a bottle of Ardbeg Single Malt Scotch from the Isle of Islay when you were down here in the spring. I think we did that sans ice but my memory is a little fuzzy...................

Scotch is a surprisingly good addition to Chinese soup. Got shown this by a waiter in a Chinese restaurant, when we were all having double scotches (neat) before dinner. When the soup arrived he told us to pour one in to the big bowl. He was right. Of course, we had to order another to drink on the side. Scotch in soup is a seasoning for the soup -- not a way to drink scotch.

Well, in a pinch, don't bother with the milk.

Beer, if God wanted Scotch to have ice in it he'd have put it in at the factory.

You wanna talk 'sacrilegious'? The scotch that went in the coffee came from a bottle with a hand-written pencil label with the cask number and date and all that stuff on it.

Scotch and milk sounds gross, but I've used scotch as an ingredient and salmon-poaching liquid.

And it's not hotter than the hinges of hell here, but I sure ain't movin' much. (Yes, even compared to a normal day.)
