"Allan Taylor, the consummate performer, a writer of literary gracefulness whose troubadour chronicles encapsulate the realism of otherwise unsung heroes, otherwise uncharted lives. Few people can convey with such eloquence their life experiences. His songs are written from a lifetime of traveling; always the observer passing through, each song is a vignette of life, like a story told over a drink in a bar; characters come to life like people you know and places become as familiar as if you had been there. His songs have been recorded by more than a hundred other performers of various nationalities (there are more than sixty cover versions of his song "It's Good to See You", in ten different languages), proof enough that a concert by Allan Taylor will be an experience to remember. As Allan says at the beginning of each concert, "Sit back and enjoy the journey." "

This is the same venue in which I first enjoyed hearing Allen Taylor nearly 20 years ago. He was a delight then, and I'd expect no less now.

Hi Maeve,

Trying to remember who you are... I'm assuming you are not still in the area. Did you use to visit EFC regularly?

20 years ago, we would have been in The Osbourne and we moved to the Cafe Royal after that.

Or was it a concert in The Pleasance itself as opposed to The Edinburgh Folk club?

Seen Allan several times in Lincolnshire over the last couple of years... all I can say is "Magic"... go see him.. you won't be disappointed.
Best wishes, Mike.

Let's see, Johnny J.

It would have been during the Edinburgh International Folk Festival, when Archie was still running it. I'd been working as a steward under Lynn R. and came to the EFC with Lynn and John or with Graham B, can't remember which.

I visited Lynn and John a few times over a span of three or so years. I doubt that you'd have any reason to remember me though.

Best wishes for a fine concert!

"I doubt that you'd have any reason to remember me though."

You never know. :-)

I used to do a bit of stewarding myself way back then and, of course, know the people of whom you speak. Our paths may have crossed briefly.

Anyway, thanks for your wishes and hope Allan comes your way sometime soon too.
