Adopt and raise children. Open our home to friends. Get the farm to the point that it's fruitful. Record the songs I sing and those I write, with friends' help. Publish books of poetry. Publish books about our lives here. Paint the pictures and illustrations I've been planning for so long. Establish a folk-life school and music center here. Find ways to help our neighbors have good food to eat from their own gardens. Help my husband realize his dreams. Pass on what we have learned here to those who want to learn. Leave the land healthy and full of plant, animal, and bird life. Travel to visit friends across the world. Follow the path God sets before me. Make a joyful noise.

I've been so blessed that there are few things I want to do before I snuff it.
Still working on getting my voice back, probably going to have another operation in the summer.

Finish and publish the book I'm working on.

My list was only my list. It's here only because a friend asked the question. Your mileage and your lists, if you have any, will vary.

I love watching the northern lights. I love seeing what the next adventure, the next challenge, the next open door might be.

I want to rent an apartment in Berlin and live there for a month, and walk all over that town - like I did when I was stationed there in 1972-73.

Oh, and I want to drive around Lake Superior and Lake Ontario and visit the lighthouses - I've done Erie, Huron, and Michigan.
Also, I want to visit the states of Hawaii, the Dakotas, Kansas, and Oklahoma - I've done the other 45.

I had a long, long list - but I did almost everything else on the list after I got divorced from wife #1. It was all stuff she didn't want to do.

I posted a thread similar to this last year.. can't remember what it was called though.. might have been 'life to do list' or something. That had some of mine on it.

I'd like to go to the US and do a bit of touring... there's so much of the world to see and not enough time or money to do it with.

I really just want the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

jacqui.c.... ahhhh.... next clear and cold night, drive to a high spot outside of town and look north. Surely Kendall knows of a spot where you can see the Northern Lights??? You may not see them like they appear way up north, but you might. I have seen them at 3AM up in Kent County just like seeing them in Labrador... directly overhead.

I've visited 30 states and Quebec. I need to visit the rest of the states and Canadian provinces. I want to visit the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Yosemite and quite a few other national parks. I want to drive across the U.S. and Canada and from Washington state to Alaska. I want to visit Scotland, Wales, Norway and Denmark. I want to visit the British Museum. I want to see the Mikado at the Savoy Theater in London. That's all I can think of right now.

Maeve, your list was wonderful and I hope you achieve it all.

There's a number of good places to eat on Skye and lots on the mainland Highlands too....I can recommend the pub at Applecross and The Plockton Hotel in Plockton.

I want to see my children grow up and be happy and settled on whatever path they chose. I want to grow old with my gorgeous and loving partner. We want to learn to dance which hopefully will be in the near future as we have plans to fulfil but need lessons first! We have a travel list too, lots of places to visit in the uk and around the world. I want to sing more too and get a 5 string fiddle.

Joe....I remember walking around London with you on your visit, it was a fantastic day, thank you for the company!

Well, I've been recording music going back 40 years... Some on reel-to-reel, some on casette, some digital... But it's scattered all over... May be as many as 100 or more songs... Some originals... Some covers... Some recorded when I was stoned and don't remember recording them or where they are... But I'd like to find everything and put it on CD's so I can leave it to my son and let it be his responsibilty...

Same with photographs... I have thousands but they are aslo scattered about... I have really made an effort but I'd like to havew them all in photo albums that make sense so that when I pass them down to my son he'll be able to figure them out...

Other than that, I'll be just happy to live out my days with the P-Vine, do our gardening, play a few festivals every year, smoke a little weed and when my time has come be ready for the next chapter...

Let's see:

We've been to Ireland twice in the last 8 months -- the last was her 10th trip over...

I've been in ever state except Hawaii, Oklahoma, and Arkansas and NB, NS, AB, BC, ON, QB and another Province I'm forgetting.

I've been violently seasick.

I've flown in small planes, including float planes.

I've voluntarily jumped (with a parachute) out of a perfectly good plane while it was in flight.

I know!

Dig my own grave!

Nobody will believe me when I tell them what I'm doing, and that will go remarkably well with everything else about me.

Seriously, Bob, your first - and doable - project should be to notate on the back of each photo the identies, approximate year, and the significance. I finally got it done and have felt virtuous ever since. :)

I'll have to do some thinkin' as to what I really, truly want to do and realisticly expect to accomplish.

Like everyone else I love the Northern Lights. I don't see them as often as I used to - mainly because one has to be outside (in the frequently bitter cold) and I've gotten wimpy. But I have seen them in every month except in June and July; the sky is just too light in those months and even the stars are not visible then.


At night I watch the Northern Lights
Stream across the sky
Silver and gold in ripples and folds
of a purple scarf flung high
Green canopy of the Northern Lights!
Gleaming stars hang nigh
All nourish my soul in the crystal cold
Alone in the Northern Lights

I made a start with the photographs this past winter and threw out hundreds that were lousy... Like you, Eb, I felt virtuous until I discovered an entire shoe bow of them that needed sorting... Maybe next winter...
