Ahhh! Decided to make best of not being able to access mudcat from work. Plan to take my writing to work on memory stick and work on some of the children's stories to knock into shape. And my sketchpad to start working on the illustrations again.

Crow Sister inspired me with a wonderful idea for embellishment.

BTW. I was outbid on the Tanglewood. Winner got it for £96 +£17 pack&post.
Don't feel too bad about it because Belfast music sells it off the hook at £169.

How's the wevva so far?

Thurs, light rain later
Fri, good
Sat, light rain PM. Fuckit.
Sun cloudy but dry later.

Where is our scorching summer when we need it?

The first Harissa I thought I had lost, but I found it in the fridge eventually. Hot but not totally deadly (if you think of it as a curry paste which will be diluted).

The second I think of as the sweet and sour as it has a lot of Cardomom seed kernels in it (they are SO boring to husk) and also honey. It was made with fresh not dried chilis (I only had one scotch bonnet, but I found I had some frozen bird-eyes and some fresh-is big chilis). On tasting I added fresh lime and lemon. It is VERY vigorous (to the extent that the entire bunch of garlic only becomes apparent after about 5 minutes of thinking about the chilis and salt). The recipe turned out to make about a two-pound jamjar full so if you want samples, bring little pots.

I have the followng tents with me for my harem of sheep or otherwise as follows: -

Val's 4-person, for Crow Sister (you will love her singing)
Sam's (he's Rachel's BF)
The bigger one Paul my lodger kidnapped from Download if Rachel wants a bigger space
Or if Rachel doesn't like it the one my own 4-man ridgepole .
In case friends of Kev's turn up to get ratarsed - the little popup that Paul kidnapped as aforesaid that we have now totally fixed and it is most impressive (indeed bodacious dude)

I will also have a gazebo, as my awning is in the pipeline.

I will further have two double airbeds and a single airbed for the destitute temporarily to sleep in luxury, and a camp bed and a a kipmat.

Looks like we are going to keep it simple as possible. We may do baked potatoes and pre-made sandwiches for lunches and down to pub for evening meal. Don't know yet. Just don't want to bring all the cooking, eating and cleaning up gear, cuz space in car is gonna be tight and I really don't want to be bothered with cooking and cleaning up. Would be different if we were there for longer time.

What normally happens on Saturday lunchtime and dinner time?

How far is the Tally Ho from the campsite?

When should we aim to be there on Saturday, so we don't disturb late sleepers?

What kind of wine do our hosts Fisheye and Fair Maiden of Nottingham like?

Thanks to Fisheye and Fair Maiden of Nottingham for the use of extra bed in caravan.

Last night was bloody cold. I tried to crash about 2am but due to cold, got up shortly before 4am and saw in the sunrise with my partner (TheSilentOne), Crowsister and one other who sadly fell asleep in his chair shortly before. TSO and CS actually saw out the night with a handful of others who trickled away as the wee hours progressed.

Next time I will be better prepared against the cold.

I have come home with either sunburn, windburn or fireburn on my face. I am glowing. So frozen teatowel on my face and long hot soak is the order of the afternoon.

Enjoyed the music and good company and getting to know a few more people.

This was an unusually cold (at night) June Knockholt. In the past it wasn't unusual to stay up all night with just a Tshirt. I didn't even have a jacket this year brrrrr!. I got a sunburnt head and nose. This is possible even when overcast sky. Us townies are not used to prolonged periods in the open air.

Excellent Knockholt ,great Musicians /singers, Very well done .
'Folk said I looked pissed off Saturday Night . Hmm ,Well cant help the way me face hangs can I ?

Well done to Fish eye who fueled the Fire of Knockholt has if his life depended on it.
Its not easy when some folk "say put more on " others say No dont. "Clearly I,d pass out with confusion.

Sorry Brian for punching you in the foot, but you were standing on my fingers and when I tried to slide them out from underneath "you pressed harder." I think you ,Tripped, on " The ground that "Wasn't moving".

"Did anyone see the Yellow breasted Giant women of Knockholt.("There a seldom site?) There all but hidden by the hedge. You know when there coming you hear the sound of Shoed Hoof,

Going from Hoof to Hoff well done Richard Bridge It all got cooked in the end
"did it not ? and two many cooks certainly "did not" spoil the Harissa.. Credit to you & Thanks for the meal Saturday Night..

"Who thought of putting lights in the toilets at night ? Bloody Par-lava." Thats all very well but" I laid out side two toilets for ?    ...25 mins before I realized there was no bugger on em?

The Toilets were Crap this year in respect that one did not work re flushing/ and the other two had other problems,

Beware The Tally Ho is trying to cash in on Knockholt I was reliable informed that the landlord" given prior good notice will lay on any real Ale /Bitter for future events. (But I Guess, He will charge the earth for it?)

Great afternoon sess down pub Saturday Afternoon.

Kev The Clogs You really turned the volume up Saturday night they heard you down the pub well gone closing time . Well done.

Finally the Humor and wit at Knockholt is getting very good.

Fisheye stopping half way through intro to 'It Blew away, because Mick Forde , put a Log on the Fire.
Stating. "Your,ve spoiled MY Fire Now,
I shout "Get on with it , Fisheye responds " F.O"

Richard Bridge, Re certain musician fiddling around with guitar prior to playing.

I Quote
"We are having trouble with the Nut. He trying to play Guitar.
I had a great time and I am looking forward to September.
Thanks to those who got me there and thanks to those who got me home.

Kind regards,
Pete.

We really enjoyed our first Knockholt.

Tam had remarked to me about Kev's rendition of "Don't Be a Stranger" echoing from far away, and its spine-tingling effect for her.

Thanks Fisheye and Fair Maiden of Nottingham. We couldn't have been there without you.

Thanks Richard for the Harissa. I used a little on a potato tonight - a scraping mixed in made it pretty hot, so at that rate I think you have probably provided me a month's supply or more!

Thanks to everyone else who was there. Have a good summer.

I will post the exact Harissa (both versions) and Tagine recipes used in due course.

Pete, the Saturday tagine could not have been done without you to watch and thicken for the last hour, and thank you Lady Raffles for lending me your gorgeous le Creuset pot.

Debs, I was drinking your punch all Sat nite and had no hangover Sun AM - am I an alcoholic?

Silent one - use the harissa paste to make a vegetable tagine: largely carrots and courgettes, some olives, some dried apricots after soaking.

Linda, thanks for the ginger.

Tam - your photos were great - it did appear that I was right on top of the fire. Mumblin' wants to know - who was the whistler who played for 2/3 minutes at around midnight on Saturday? He heard it half way through a song but doesn't know who was singing at the time - so it could have been Rachel perhaps, as she was in the area that it came from. If it wasn't Rachel?.....

The video footage that i shot was a bit disappointing I have put together a small compilation. It has been compressed to about 5% of the original so the resolution is awful but it was just to put something up on youtube. I will spend some time later to make a better quality uncompressed upload. See here Woodsie's Blog

A Excellent Ride On at the end of Saturday night well done to the Great john Barden who I followed hopefully in time i do tend to race ahead a bit with Ride On. A great Song.

Maybe we should have done Ride On twice on Saturday immediately after that early night fiasco.
to have dispersed that horrible atmosphere that ruined the first part of the Saturday evening. For me anyway.

It was also great to see and speak to Howard both down the Tally Ho I have not seen him since Otford last year and also John Barden,s guests at the feast.

It was a shame they left the site so Early Saturday Night?

all my leave has been taken at work now except Knockholt september which Im booked up for but if there are any Rochester Good intent session going on or any Nags Head sessions going on in future please post them has I do have rest days from shift so I may still be able to attend. That also includes Upnor and Otford.

Thats all folks see you on another thread or in september.

Knockholt was as good as ever, and I certainly look forward to the September gathering.
I just had to say somthing on Saturday evening, and hope I didn't spoil it for the rest of you - it also meant I could sit in the marquee and cuddle the beer barrel for a while. Anyway the evening ended up with everybody joining in, and that was great fun - THANKS to you all.

Richard Bridges' Harissa was fabulous, the Tagine feast held chez him was brilliant, along with the Chile con Carne, the Rice, in fact the whole thing.

Lindas' paella on friday evening, along with the tapas etc was stunning, as was her wonderful home brewed beer. What more could anybody want!!!

Well done to the organisers, and to the Folkmob. You guys do a splendid and at times thankless job.

John Barden

They have assured me that they will be attending again at the September Knockholt (I hope a certain person has been put on a leash by then or at least developed some manners!).

A great weekend. Great to have spent it with you all.

See as many of you at Aylesford this comming weekend as possible.

Bye for now.

Cheers to all for my first Knockholt - pity we didn't get around the The Four Old Whores before the circle started breaking down for the night - but maybe September...?

Saw the Sun up with TS1 & VTam & another chap called Ian I think - who I had a medicinal helping of beans on toast with before crashing at around 7am I think (I understand why the afternoon's for mooching before evening festivities resume...)

Sorry to TDL, I think you were a bit offended. But we were all somewhat worse for wear after the circle kinda broke up, huddling round the fire, being a bit 'lively' with the chatter, and not really with the programme after that!

Thanks to Babs for essential morning coffee!!!! My cunning plan of camping like some poor hobo outside your homely shelter worked a treat...

Pity we didn't hear a bit more of Rachel. Drum & vocals combo was topper - like Kev said.

Have a good Summer all - Hopefully I'll have some Irish rebel songs under my belt to annoy Richard with by September... :)

And thanks to the folks who do all the hard work.

If you wanna annoy Richard just cook a lamb joint before he gets to Knockholt,
having previously arranged with him to cook it when he gets there.
He will have a right go for wasting his time.

Then put a piece of the cooked Lamb on a knife point take it over to him and with a very steady hand stick it under his nose and let him try the sample.

Sorry Richard I choose to cook the leg of Lamb in its own juices and then Marinate it afterwards at the end of it all it was only cooked with the Marinate you brought along so all the talk about wasting your time well it was not really wasted because it worked on mine and also wonderfully on yours. all the food at the meal was lovely.

For one that will not usually touch Cider because it makes me want to fight the world, Essex Girls Cider was great, The punch was great also.

I hope a certain person takes my advice + others who have known him far longer and better then I do and he stops drinking Cider to the point where it just brings out the complete Devil in him
+ Hic cups..

when he is sober over a couple of pints he quite a nice guy.

the latter ,Sadly , is rarely seen.

However, on getting it repaired today, I was informed that it appeared to be a deliberate puncture made in the side wall of the tyre - possibly caused by a dart or a scewer was the informed opinion of the guy that fitted the new tyre - I would like to think that it was just one of those things or that it was an errant tent peg - just thought I would mention it though!!

Beg your Pardon Essex Girl. has I said it tasted real nice.

Kev By the time you drove off site Sunday there was only 6 pitches left in the field. Meself. Pauline and Brian. Mick n Sue Forde. Frank. and the Irish along with Alf & Monica. I was 2nd to last off site with Woodsies sister and her fellow who gave me a lift home to Eltham. Leaving Mick and Sue has the last to leave.

Most folk were off site before we got the Marquee down and there was only Me Mick and Woodsies Sisters Fellow left behind to shift all the remaining huge logs which took quite some time to accomplise and by the time it was finished along with the Marquee my liver was poking out me arse.

Please Note.
I not moaning Re above its just that if I was not there all day Sunday to late Sunday afternoon awaiting my lift then Mr Mick Forde would have had shifted those logs on his own which he would not have been able to do.
What happened was Woodsie sister partner and mick forde loaded the huge logs onto his van and drove them to Dead Tree Copse and I carried the bearable logs.

I was only there due to the very fact that my lift home were in no particular hurry to leave. If not so I would have been gone.Id have had no choice ,that or stay another night alone .

I know folk help put up the Marquee.
I know folk help with the fire. Re Throwing Logs.etc.
also cutting logs and making sure all is in order round the fire.Re Kev the Cloggs With stick Saturday Night.

Just making things clear but dont quite know the answer to it.

Maybe have the Log Pile dumped closer to Dead Tree Copse.
But Then Casy Jones (Fisheye) would have to carry them further and above through the circle which is deadly to the gathers sitting in that area and woulod be difficult has the circle gets bigger has the weekend gets nearer.
