Bobert - he solved the problem with the Chevy - he got another car, which I will leave him to talk about.

As Dr Z told us, his voice is now very growly - he is using his false vocal cords to make sound - and it is not likely that Kendall will ever have a singing voice back. He still isn't sure that he has sufficient voice to be able to get involved in group conversation, but we shall see what happens over time.

Many thanks for all the good thoughts, of whatever persuasion, that have been coming our way through all of this. Thanks for all the humour, which has occasionally helped through some bad days for both of us. We do appreciate your all being there.

I have reported earlier that my wife I have been through what Kendal and you are experiencing right now.

We know the fluctuations hopes and disappointments that happen all along the way.

I too was at a stage when my voice was "growly" and talking was a problem. I too was advised that I would never be able to sing again.

Naturally at first we were upset but we decided that we were lucky in the circumstances to still be together and still have our lives and family to share.

As time went by I found that my voice was improving ( slightly) day by day. I am not the most patient person around but I latched on to what I had and let nature and the doctors' help take it's course.

I am pleased to say that my speaking voice is now back where it once was, OK ever so slightly husky.

Some time ago I decided to take out my guitar and try to see if I could still play. A broken hand, age and not playing anything have taken their toll of my playing, but I can swish across a few chords.

So I tried to sing. Obviously I started singing with not much power and very little stretch of range but as we all know here, many old folk songs are relatively simple to sing and play if that's what you want to do.

Practice ( but nowhere near as much as I used to do) has improved my guitar work and surprisingly my voice has come on too.

I find it difficult to get in the right key to sing and my range is still limited but I am pleased with the result.

I write this only as an encouragement and obviously you have to heed to medical advice.

Kendall and Jacqui - It has been a long hard slog for you both. I have only been reading a small portion of what you both have had to contend with and sometimes just thinking about it exhausts me.

I am glad I have come to know you both a bit. I hope to know you even more and I am tickled with this good news.

I know the talking at normal conversation level is a true miracle, but I hope you never give up hope to sing again Kendall.

Really? Didn't you hear about the price of edible panties being reduced by 45%? That was prettty exciting as well as the article I read that stated the latest research shows that ants will still follow a sugar trail almost anywhere.

Also Kendall is quite wrong about "one is not licked until one gives up."   Back in '79 I stopped in a "massage parlor" on Monteagle that truckers called the "Burger King Brothel" because you could have it your way. I had a routine checkup with my regular Doctor today. He did an EKG and it was normal. He commented that I look great and that's good enough for me.

Come to think of it I have never heard a giraffe sing either !! lol

I guess you are right after all the invasive treatment my "new" voice is breaking.........IN !! lol

It is is slightly more husky ( my wife says sexy) than previous and does not have the power or range but I can get around most of that.
I just have to meddle more with the keys that I want to sing in....

You come visit me and I'll show you how we catch trout and cook 'em all at the same time. There's some sturgeon around here as well, and salmon. Not to mention black bears, grizzly bears, elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, moose, mountain lion, kraken, mountain caribou, jack rabbits and cottontail rabbits, wolverines, lynx, beaver, skunk, catfish, carp, kookena, Shoshones, Bannocks, voles, golden eagles, rocs, squid, and now and then lobsters.
