Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 21 Apr 17 - 12:00 PM Sending my love to all of the above, good healing thoughts to everyone in need. Had to get new locks on the salon door this morning, some "kind sole" had tried to jemmy open the door in the middle of the night, no real damage done but made me quite cross. There have been a number of break ins in the Frinton shops over the past few weeks, very unusual but we live in unusual times don't we? onward and upwards, going to a music session in Walton this evening, dare I sing, such a long time since I have.... but maybe fondest love Wendy xxxxx |

My right leg will be done next week. It has not stopped me from doing anything today. Not varicose veins, just the blood not returning as it oughta. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 14 Apr 17 - 09:07 PM She's home and wandering around the house. Tomorrow the intake nurse from home health care comes. Yes, she's in pain, especially when she does something which she shouldn't. She'll be back asleep soon; she's doing that a lot just like she did last year. Now comes my part. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 14 Apr 17 - 08:37 PM Thank you, Rap, from me, too. I'm glad the surgery went well and that the outlook is good. I hope Pat quickly recovers. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: JennieG Date: 14 Apr 17 - 09:14 AM Thanks for the update, Rap - will also let Sandra in Sydney know, we're at a folk festival this weekend. Pleasr pass our best wishes on to Pat for a speedy recovery. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 14 Apr 17 - 04:44 AM Rapparee, thank you for your update. Quite how you found the time amazes me. Ann & I send our sincere best wishes for Pat to make a complete recovery, soon to return home. We are thinking of you too. The 'carer's rôle' is not without it's difficulties. Take good care...your health & strength play a significant part in the 'bigger picture'. Sending love to you both, Nigel & Ann. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 13 Apr 17 - 07:42 PM She was out of surgery and recovery around noon; about 1 p.m. she arrived in the hospital room. She'll be there at least tonight. The surgeon said all went well and she believes that there was no spread beyond the original place. A "simple" mastectomy was done, i.e., the chest wall muscles, etc., weren't touched. When I left she had just awakened from a nap of 90 minutes or so and the massive headache she had after surgery had abated to the point of tolerance. Fifth bout with cancer and the first recurrence. Going to dinner and then back to the hospital. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 13 Apr 17 - 05:49 PM Rap, by now I hope Pat is out of surgery and doing well. Please update us at your convenience. Pete, I'm sending early Happy Birthday Hugs to Tommy. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 13 Apr 17 - 01:00 PM Thanks, Pete. She's in surgery right now. |

What an achievement that Tommy reaches his 18th birthday next week. Your caring, love & devotion has played a significant part in guiding Tommy through many difficult times. Sending love to you both, Nigel. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 10 Apr 17 - 11:15 AM We know only too well the nefariously unpredictable nature of cancer. Keith's news makes very good reading. Ann & I send our sincere good wishes to Keith, his Family & the medical team who will be in attendance. With love to all concerned, Nigel |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 09 Apr 17 - 09:37 PM As will I. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 09 Apr 17 - 02:37 PM Keith A of Hertford posted what he called amazing news to his "chemotherapy" thread. When he started the thread, he had a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, and the doctors had concluded that surgery was not an option given the progression of the cancer. That was over a year ago. Numerous treatments later, the doctors find that much of the tumor is no longer discernible on the scan. This means they can attempt to operate. Keith posts that the surgery is scheduled for 24 April. I reckon that he would welcome all the well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers of anyone so inclined; I certainly send mine. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 08 Apr 17 - 08:33 PM I'm always glad to read good news. Now I'll hope for more! |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 08 Apr 17 - 06:43 PM Oh, dear. 13 April, Maundy Thursday, and "let this cup pass from me." Easter Sunday you all will still be waiting for news about the outcome of the surgery, and still recovering. Keep it positive. Holy Week is a good week for prayers. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 08 Apr 17 - 07:24 AM Good news - YAH! best wishes heading Pat's way for next week. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 07 Apr 17 - 09:22 PM Good news today from the surgeon. A lymph node was found on an ultrasound and it looks normal. A simple mastectomy, maybe a little radiation, perhaps tamoxifen. It all depends on what is found when she (the surgeon) gets inside. AND the drains may come out only a week later, instead of three weeks last year. Yes, it was a year ago today that she had a left mastectomy...a complicated one. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 07 Apr 17 - 08:40 PM Rap, I'm sending a GRRR to the hospital administration--but not to any of the staff who will be caring for Pat. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 07 Apr 17 - 10:12 AM Pat's breast cancer surgery, which we thought and were told was to be April 6, is now scheduled for April 13. Pray that she doesn't get ahold of the hospital administration! |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 06 Apr 17 - 07:29 PM Oh dear, I probably shouldn't have described a running joke. It's suddenly very quite. On the upside, there seem to be people willing to buy my mother's house. It's probably a bit of pressure to get it empty in time, but there's hope that after this I'll get to enjoy Summer without having to wonder how to get rid of the house and its mortgage. I might even feel like singing some folk songs. (-: Bye, Mysha |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 02 Apr 17 - 06:07 PM Taking a quiet walk around town one evening, I heard two joggers behind me. As they got closer, I heard one of them tell: "... 'But why?', he asked." Then they passed me and ahead of me I could hear: "And she replied: ...". As they turned the corner, I could hear the other jogger laughing; then all was quiet again. Bye Mysha |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 01 Apr 17 - 01:15 PM For my Mom. She laid my Dad down easy. Yesterday was the anniversary of his passing. Wasn't easy for her, but that remarkable woman made it as easy as possible for her mate of 63 years. Easy |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 26 Mar 17 - 03:18 PM Hi, The words "A12 & head for the Naze" mostly call up "Harwich for the continent" for me. But then, on the bicycle I don't go on that kind of road if I can help it; these are much older memories. Bye, Mysha |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 23 Mar 17 - 07:40 PM Nigel, even though most of us in this crew never met her, Jane shines surprisingly brightly in our memories, too. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 23 Mar 17 - 04:20 AM Gnu, apologies if I alarmed you, my 'HighTide' post was nowt more than a rather clumsy refresh! Wendy, agreed, we must brave the A12 & head for the Naze, the location of many, childhood holidays for me. Has to be one of the finest beaches along the east coast. Trusting that London 'Catters were not caught up in yesterday's horrors at Westminster. With Love, Nigel. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 23 Mar 17 - 04:07 AM 'Jane's Rainbow', a colourful name for our wondrous ship, dedicated to a lady whose life was full of colour. On the 23rd March, 2013, it was revealed to Jane, our eldest daughter, that rainbows do have an end with a Pot of Gold. Jane was our Pot of Gold. She shines as bright in our memories now as she did in life. With Love to You All, Nigel & Ann. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 22 Mar 17 - 08:12 PM Good thoughts for Elizabeth from me, ranger1. I marveled at your birth story and at yours, too, Nigel. Wendy, I'm glad you got your family to the airport on Monday. I think London and Heathrow must be buttoned up tight after today's horrible event. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ranger1 Date: 22 Mar 17 - 12:33 PM Ooh! Cake! Can I have a candle on mine? Much beloved landlady-who-is-almost-family (who lives next door) fell yesterday crossing a very busy road with neither sidewalks nor pedestrian crossings and hit her head and broke her wrist. Consultation with the orthopedic specialist tomorrow to see whether she will need surgery. Luckily, a passing motorist stopped to help. Good thoughts for Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 22 Mar 17 - 10:48 AM Afternoon, just catching up and enjoying a coffee. Sending love and thoughts to Nigel and Ann, hope you are both feeling better and not too stressed. This year you really must come down that dreadful A12 ( it was closed Monday AM with a multiple accident at Rivenhall and Billy and I were taking our Niece and 2 nephews back to Heathrow for a flight home to New York! We got them there with just an hour before take off!!) and come and spend a day at the new beach hut, it is on Hipkins beach at the Naze. We must arrange a date when the warm weather comes . We spent a lovely two days showing off London to our American young, we walked 7 miles on Saturday, from Borough market to Westminster, river bus to the Tower and dinner in St Katherines at the Dickens Inn, then back along the embankment to the flat. London is so beautiful at night with Tower Bridge all lite up. Then on Sunday we were back home and I cooked roast lamb for 14 family. It all went far too quick but was such a lovely few days. Sending love to all, lots of coffee cake left anyone care for a slice? With love Wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxx |
