Subject: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th...
From: Bobert
Date: 02 Mar 12 - 09:20 PM

Well, fir the unner-da-liners the old hillbilly going to have a bigass hole opened up in the area of my left thumb and doc chisel out some of the end of the ol' hillbilly's wrist bone and then chop out some tendon and stick it in there between the thumb and the wrist bone which will act like cartridge so I can continue to beat on my geetar for years to come...

Good thoughts and prayers and all that warm and fuzzy stuff appreciated from the riff-raft who tend to live under the bridge...

And with all of us down here who'd do this free for nothin' you're gonna PAY to have it done? Hell's bells, boy, I'd do it for a couple of six-packs! I'd even give you a shot of whiskey and bullet to bite on!

You gonna be in shape for Getaway?

Tried all that stuff, brucie, long time ago... Actually worked a couple times until it didn't... Bummer... I miss her so much... lol... Then I met the P-Vine and discovered that the ol' gal is so strange that every time is like geetin' some strange...

But, alas...

Don't change the fact that doc gonna cut a bigass hole in my hand and get out a hammer and chisel out the hand-end of the wrist bone and borrow some tendon stuff and stick it in the gap...

But beats, ahhhhh, bad word, the heck outta 24/7 burning feeling in my thumb and not being able to beat, ahhhhh, bad word, my geetar...

B~

Hey! That's scary stuff, Bob.   I didn't realize the level of pain you've been under.

Luckily, medicine/surgery has come bad word? a long way, baby.

We'll be thinkin' about you.

Bobert, have you seen a good orthopedic surgeon? And physical therapy won't do anything?

My wife is have problems with both hands, but therapy helps a lot.

Wish it were a matter of PT, Rap... Doc says that it's as bad as he's seem... The thumb bone is now into trying to act as a mini-back how and is actually grooving out the wrist bone... I mean, doc asked how I'd put up with it so long??? Guess I mighta have a high threshold for pain??? Didn't think it was THIS bad???

Worst part is that the right thumb ain't all that much better... Next year gonna have to play this song again...

Hate talking about this stuff... Makes me feel like, ahhhhh, you know.... Old???

I strongly recommend diconal as a painkiller - if you can get it. Almost worth having the pain for. However the medical establishment is strongly against it, you aren't supposed to drink with it, not drive nor operate machinery and in fact it does more than somewhat mong you out!

My pain killer of choice is Natural Lite Beer... Didja'll know that you can't get it in the beer stores no more??? It's only available at the health food stores... That's why they call it "natural"... And the beauty of the stuff is that you can have as much as you can hold...

No pills...

Spaw - the llama got the boot almost eight years ago. I think Seamus chewed it up. (Or did something with it, anyway.)

Bobert - that sounds like some real work to be done. I had Carpel Tunnel decompressions done about twenty years ago and remember not being able to use one of my hands for a while. It does make life a bit difficult so I hope that you have been making nice with P-Vine as you will probably be needing a fair bit of help over the next few weeks (and not just for beating whatever).

Good thoughts will be heading your way from Maine.

You WILL take the pills if you need them. There is no reason why the P-Vine has to put up with your moaning and groaning when she's gonna have to put up with a lot else. For example, which hand do you wipe yer ass with?

I had surgery on my right elbow about 9 weeks ago and it ain't fun. You do what yer told, even if it constipates ya. Let the P-Vine hide the pills and decide whether or not you deserve one.

After the last one, on my nose, I was offered delauded while I was still messed up from the anesthesia. I asked if it would make me loopy. She said, "You'll be fine." Lyin bitch! Even when they sent me home I nearly fell twice in the hospital, getting in and out of the taxi, and while telling Mum I was juuuust fine. Had a fair few prescriptions for Tylenol 3 w/ Codiene. If they are moving a tendon [or other part] from one location to another, it's called an autotransplant. If it takes and puts everything into the right position, you're done. If not, be prepared for a second surgery. Either way, there is likely to be some pain.

May the knife be sharp, the surgeon steady, and the healing quick!
I once visited an obsidian deposit / flow that had an info board that described how one guy insisted his surgeon use an obsidian knife for a heart operation as the edge is much sharper and cleaner than steel and the skin edges heal much more quickly.

Of course it is, you wouldn't be human otherwise. Get done what you can, make what preparations you can (e.g., do you have an electric or manual can opener?), and remember to obey the P-vine ABSOLUTELY. You're gonna be out of it, at least more so than usual, and she's gonna have to take care of you just like you took care of her a year ago.

Remember that when this is over you'll be back playing the blues and you'll have a whole new set of songs.

"Woke up this mornin', they put me to sleep
I mean they put me to sleep, not put me to sleep
I ain't no dog, they put me to sleep
Now I got them anesthesia throw-up blues.

No, I shoulda listened, listened to the doc
And not ate nothin' before they cut
Yeah I shoulda listen and not et stuff
Now I got them anesthesia throw-up blues.

Now the doctor done cut me, no not like a calf
The doc he done cut me, but I wasn't there
I was out like a dead light bulb, I wasn't there
Now I got them anesthesia throw-up blu-ES!"

Well, since you know you have to get it done - after all, it's a quality of life issue - there isn't much to do about it but let them do the driving. Once it is done and receding into the past you'll probably feel really good about it.
Remember- As they say: A little pain never hurt anybody.

I've been thinking about ya, Bobert. I had PT for almost a year on my hands. It took time, but they are slowly getting better, though my right thumb is still in a splint. The therapist recommended trying that for a month, then go to the doc for a cortisone shot if it's not better. I don't like those shots, but he said in the thumb area, the one tendon is fairly isolated and the shot usually takes care of it. I've been anxious for it to heal so I could fiddle, but my left index finger has a curve in it that still hasn't let go, so have to do something about it, too. All this from using a walker last year when I broke my foot!

Anyway, I have a friend in her 80s who just had hip surgery. It's amazing, to me, how fast and easy surgery seems these days. She was out in just a few days and walking almost immediately and she's also gone through several other surgeries on her other hip and both knees, as well as shoulders. If she can do it, you can, too, and it won't be near as bad as you are thinking. Think about how good it will be after, playing at the Getaway, etc. Keep your mind focussed on that and maybe it will help. That's what I had to do for heart surgery.

I am giving thanks for an easy and successful surgery with a complete recovery. This or something better for the highest good of all concerned.

Thanks all...

BTW, I ain't gettin' knocked out... They are going to give me a "block", whatever that is, where I'll be awake or semi awake... They said that I won't feel any of the operation while it's going on... That's fine with me... I don't find being awake... I think I'd rather be awake 'cause I'd heard that every time you "go under" that the stuff that they give you to get you under takes away some of yer memory... Now if ya got to pick the stuff that would be fine but you don't.. So being awake is the way to go...

I know that I'm going to have to do the right thumb, too, in the future and was thinking what that would be like... I mean, I don't think that having the left one out of commission for a month or 2 is going to prevent me from doing most of the stuff I need to do 'cause I've already figured out ways of using my left hand without using the thumb to avoid the pain...

Just nervous and a tad depressed over it all...

Buddy... only one way to overcome nervousness. Ya gotta say this to yourself, "I ain't gonna change my mind so fuck it, I ain't gonna worry." As for depressed, ya can't turn back time so it's more or less the same deal.

Now that my take on both are said and done... I originally wrote, "I ain't gonna change my mind so fuck it, I ain't gonna fret none." but I caught the unintended pun in time.

Sorry, that guest was me. HOWEVER, the needle they administer the blocking agent with is about 1/4" diameter and 5" long. It hurts like slamming a car door on your fingers, twice. Good luck, buddy.

Bobert, I had surgery on my finger. It wasn't as involved or invasive as your surgery will be.

They will have to hold your hand still, probably involving straps or a vice-like thing. None of this hurts, but you can't move it. You shouldn't really move ANYthing, and you'll likely get restless after a while.

If they use a tourniquet and the nerve block wears off before the tourniquet comes off, it's going to hurt. If feels like a limb waking up from being asleep x 10, but it's temporary and gets better when they take the thing off.

Your choice on the drugs. It depend on whether the cons(which can last for a while after the surgery) outweigh the pros (less pain, and less anxiety for both you and the surgeon).

Good luck with it all!

Bobert, I was just kidding. The only time I ever felt pain from a needle stick was years back at a hospital in Edmonton. It was for a blood gas test and they had to dig for a vein in the middle of my arm real near the wrist. They tried once with two people holding my arm, but they had to call two more. I told 'em to strap my arm to a solid chair THEN put two guys on the arm and one on the other with the last guy holding my body still. Jaysus, son, nobody got roughed up but it was close. Hurt like the Dickens. However, Jeri's right about after the surgery's done. At least you know that pain'll go away--after a few months. LOL

Bobert- Iffin they drug the doc instead of you...run awaaaaay!

You'll do fine. It's a necessary and appropriate operation that stands to help your hand function quite a bit. I reckon you'll find it all interesting, and will be writing smooth blues songs the whole time.

See if you can have a tape recorder going to capture the new songs and the colorful Language you'll be palavering. Maybe the P Vine will hold the microphone for you??

You Will Be Fine.

Bob, if you tell the docs that you're really nervous and scared they might give you some drugs to put you in a better frame of mind (if you know what I mean) like what is administered prior to a colonoscopy. I actually look forward to that little cocktail but can do without the prep part. That's the only invasive procedure I've had other than a finger repair due to a basketball injury - I won't tell you about how the freezing came out as they were sewing it up - that will only increase your anxiety.

Bobert. I've had several surgeries, three of them far more invasive and risky (yes, two were risky due to the possibilty of facial nerve damage) and the only things I LET bother me were knowing Mum was worried and, while in the prep room, next to me, a young mother was crying while holding the hand of a girl about five years old... the girl said, "Don't cry Mommy, the doctor said I will be just fine." That's when I lost it.

Think of some jokes to tell the staff. But never ask, "What's up, doc?" They HATE that. Maybe, with a gesture, something like, "Here's a big thumbs up to a successful op." Or, "I can't wait to play the geetar agin. Hope this works. I been frettin over this op." with a big grin. Hang a camera around yer neck and say, "I was hoping to get some pics in case I gotta do this by myself someday." Maybe someone else can make some suggestions.

By the way, shave all the hair from the middle of yer forearm on down. And, as fer usin yer left hand fer chores as you said you have figured out how to do, I hope you have taken into consideration the possibilty of infection ocurring while doing such chores. Avoiding infection is as important as anything else and perhaps moreso.

Again, re the nerves, like I said, just do it. Or Spaw will call you a pussy.

Bobert, if I started listing med treatments I've had for this and that it would tax my memory. You are gonna be ok. They'll likely give you something to 'calm you down', and you'll enjoy seeing the procedure.

Look at it this way: it ain't often you get to watch surgeons do their work.

They like to put up curtains so you can't watch. Personal, I don't mind watching the movie later, but I was happy about not seeing it live. I have this theory that it would hurt more later if I saw what they did. I don't know if it's true.

It's okay to be nervous. Even people who have had surgery are nervous when they need another one.

Just breathe. Long, slow steady breaths. Try to make your exhales as long as your inhales. Repeat to yourself, "I will be fine." Picture yourself all healed and playing that guitar. And breathe. And remember how many people care about you.

Bob,

As you slide into the op, please be mindful of our dear old friend and parishioner John Kilbourne and his dear, DEAR wife Lill. John is quite ancient and she is worried about his gallbladder op the same day, away off over the mountain-- in the "Big Hospital" where they do the "Real Serious Surgeries." I know John would not take it amiss to ask your (and P-Vine's) prayers for himself, his doctors, but above all for Lill's peace of mind. You see, she's just a young thing (second marriages), and she worries mos' awfully that one day she will lose her John.

Bobert... if you don't shave yer arm/hand and they don't shave your arm/hand, your arm/hand may get damn itchy with the cast or splint or whatever it is and changing bandages will be much more of a chore and hurt more. Perhaps I should have explained that. It ain't for them... it's for YOU.

Now, I don't really know what they are gonna do during and after the procedure but *I* would shave my arm/hand "just in case".

Look Man...It'll be okay and if it goes wrong.............well, with all they do in plastic surgery they can probably cut off your dick and use it to replace your thumb. Hell, that might have some advantages for you as you could make love to your hearts content without getting pains in your back! Think of it!

You could be just sittin' there and really diggin' it while you recline comfortably in front of the TV watching re-runs of "Swamp Loggers."   Eat some popcorn while you're at it. You might have to stop a time or two to use the remote but this might be something to consider in case your thumb ends up needing to be cut off.

Bobert, I like Janie's idea about playing your CD during your surgery time. I, like Rapparee, may well be asleep since it is before dawn and all, so I'll put it in the player tonight and have it turn itself on at 6am your time (5am mine - so don't take it personally if I hit the snooze button a few times - but I'll know why it's going off!)

Just remember what my consumer advocate (The Watchdog columnist in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram) says: Ask A Lot of Questions. And if you have a few in the morning, ask them before they shoot you full of Versed (though I refuse to let them use that stuff - it gives me a hangover like you wouldn't believe).

Bobert Bobert Bobert...

Just a little hospital etiquette for you:

1. Flirt with the nurses but do not touch.
2. Say please when requesting the REALLY GOOD pain meds
3. Wave and blow kisses as you shout goodbye on your way out the door

Sending all good thoughts and prayers your way. Wishing I lived closer so I could lend a hand...well...maybe not literally...but...you know what I mean!!

Love you Friend!!!!

XOXOXOOXOXOX

Michelle

Well, well, well...

The deed is done and I an sitting here typing with one hand with my hand starin' at me... It's in a foam rubber contraption with various holes an slots that i guess works to immobilize body parts... It is very strange in that my hand is peeping out the top of this thing only 6 inches from my face yet it feels like its on my lap an' when I touch it it with my left hand the left hand says to to my brain that ain't mine but some dead guys hand...

Reckon it will take several more hours to get over dead arm to pain arm...

Sleep time....

Just went down for 2 hours... No, not that, ya'll...Sheeeesh... Ya'll are some bored people... I mean, i just took a long nap... That gettin' up at 4:30 in the mornin' sucks...

The hand is still a complete stranger... Dead, dead, dead... I think they do this to ya' so that when you start gettin' the feelings back in it that you're happy to get he pain with 'um...

One bit og good news is that while I was nappin' my step-son borrowed our car and went off a bought a new keyboard with the letters on the keys!!! The old one was shot and only he letters that you use very often had the letters ob the keys so seein' as I don't know where stuff is I've spent a lot of time having to go back, delete and guess again... So now if I don't make sense it is because I am indeed senseless...

I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee once, and when I saw the doctor a few hours later, asked him when the anesthetic would wear off. He laughed and said "a couple hours ago, at least". If they've packaged you really well, you might not have much pain at all. I hate the numbness, so I understand where you're comin' from.

We always have choices, Bobert.

And you and others, and many of us who will need to follow a bit later also have the benefit of the significant advances that have been made in just the past 10 years in medicine and surgical procedures to joints needed for fine motor skills.

It also helps to remember that regardless of surgery, many of us ain't spring chickens anymore.

Go to sleep. Dream sweet. Azaleas starting to bloom. Hellebore babies waiting to be potted up and passed back to you. Guitar necks patiently waiting to be stroked or hammered, but only in good time.

Squished hand: the bandage is likely a little snug on purpose as some compression keeps swelling down. (Along with you keeping your hand above the level of your heart.) Just make sure your fingers don't turn white... or blue. (If they go green, then there's always the 'hook' option)

The pain should begin to abate rather quickly. (That's 'quickly' to the rest of us. Not so much, to you.)

A thought here: When I first got to Juneau 20-some years ago I walked the hillside staircases and mountain trails with great abandon. My knee went out, bigtime. Could hardly walk, couldn't sleep, although every morning it felt better than when I'd gone to bed.

This went on for a week or so then one day lying, reading, on my bed with my leg propped high with pillows a thought popped into my head: What does this pain remind me of?

And the answer: Muscle spasms.

And that is what it was. Major stretching exercises took care of it. But my main point is that when I knew what it was I could deal with it, mentally as well as physically.

Might the tight 'squeezing' be muscle cramping, Bob?

Of COURSE you woke up in the night! Geez, dude, you had a guy doing some serious cuttin' on ya. You got this body, right? It's gotta heal in it's own way, and waking you up is just its way of asking, "Hey, are they through yet? 'Cause I'm gittin' plumb tired of being whittled on and rearranged."

Dammit, Bobert, I said it on the other thread and I'll say it again. THROW AWAY THE TYLENOL. You're already taking it in the stuff the doc prescribed. It's very easy to OD on, and it'll damage your liver. Get some Motrin (ibuprofen) or Naprosyn (naproxen) or even aspirin, but NO TYLENOL.

Yep, it was the NURSES and PHARMACISTS that kept track of the daily dose when I was working an orthopedic ward. More is better with the narcs, but not the tylenol. If you develop liver failure he won't see the connection, either. He'll hand you off to an internal med guy and blame you for drinking too much. Try asking - you'll likely have dead air, then agreement that Motrin would be ok, too.

You CAN OD on Tylenol (acetaminophen). You can also OD on ibuprofen (7,000mg will do it) -- trust me on that, my wife has had ibu poisoning). You gotta WATCH WHAT YOU TAKE!!

Now, about the pain. Go get a rubber bone (gotta be rubber). Put it between your teeth and let the P-vine take a belt sander to your leg (extra-coarse grit). It'll feel sooooooooooo good when she stops....

In the meantime, read Corinthians III:

The Way Named Straight, Tarsus, Province of Syria. My Dear Corinthians: I, Paul, by the will of God an unworthy apostle, again write you in fellowship and with a good will. I must once again remonstrate with you, and must tell you again in no uncertain terms to shape up! Don't make me come over there, you hear? You'll be sorry if you do! By the way, I've written to you twice -- don't you know it's very rude not to reply to letters? Sincerely yours, Paul.

Bobert,

Being awake and in pain sucks...especially during the night. Does anything give you relief? A certain position maybe? Put on some music that relaxes you, grab a book or do something that interests you. On those many long nights when I had pain from my chemo, I spent time making montages online. It was fun and in the end I had something neat to show for it. Or sit and cry. I did plenty of that too.

I don't know if you are a praying kind of guy but there were many, many nights when I couldn't sleep so God and I would chat and eventually I would drift off. And I slept better alone during that time. I love my husband but I needed to have room to thrash around, toss and turn and be miserable if need be. He was a good egg and didn't take it personally....maybe that might help.

We are all so different. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.

And you know what else helps me sleep? Vicks Vapor Rub. True story.

Love you friend. This too shall pass.

XOXOXOOX

Michelle

One day further away from the operation and another day closer to healing.

I remember what it was like having carpel tunnel decompressions about 20 years back. It damn well hurt! Here's to less pain with each day from now on.

Bobert, my right arm still hurts from surgery in December. It's GONNA hurt. It's gonna hurt like hell. But be a MAN, suck it up and treat it like a REAL MAN would -- with crying, whimpering, complaining and bitching (at least that's what my wife tells me).

Ain't about being a man... I know fully well about pain... I am a polio survivor and it was only thru a year's worth of intense pain that was able walk again... So I can do pain... Just seems that this time I can do pain or I can do sleep but not both... I haven't had more than 3 hours of uninterupted sleep since last Tuesday night...

I don't normally manage more than 3 hours continuous sleep, but with diligence about getting back to sleep can get over 8 hours a night. Normal pattern 2 hours sleep, a bit of prowling about, 2 to 3 hours sleep then a bit of prowling about, then 3 or 4 hours nice restful sleep that has to be ended to start the day only a little late.

I usually get longer better sleep of I go out to the caravan, next best is the biggest sofa, and least wonderful any of the 5 bedrooms in my house (but at least the best of them is mine)!

So holler all you need to.

As for sleep- you can survive with so little sleep for quite a while. Suggest you sleep when you can, rest when you can, distract yourself when you can. Talk with the doc or his cohorts as soon as you can and as often as you need to. Things truly will improve.

Actually, the arm is in a large foam rubber contraption that keeps the hand elevated... I've had to make some "adjustments" with sizzors an extra padding here and there and have been working on another contraption of my own design to keep my fingers straighter... They tend to want to curl to avoid pulling on the cut tendons...

I'll get thru this...

It's a spiral. Lack of sleep causes pain to feel worse. Pain causes lack of sleep. Meds may be affecting your normal sleep pattern. That's something else to discuss with your doc--or maybe a nurse practitioner if one works with your doc. NPs are sometimes better listeners and if one has worked with several docs, an NP may be less locked into one way of medicating patients. I think some docs get into a rut of prescribing the same thing, while and NP may have seen a variety of doctors try different things. I'm hoping for less pain and more sleep for you, starting now!

Sorry it hurts Bob. Have they tried you with Oromorph - morphine based? I get on with Tramadol - those some people say it sends them tripping,

The strongest, I ever took was for tri geminal neuralgia - that was callled Kapaki It stopped the pain, but I had to stop gigging as it emptied my mind of the lyrics of songs that I'd been singing every night for years.

The point is, you need an effective painkiller to sleep, and you need to sleep and relax - just to mend and stabilise your condition - temp, blood pressure, etc.

Best wishes to you - I hope you're soon back up there on the sidewalk.

So sleep ain't easy... I got 5 more days of the foam rubber monster and then i'm going to blow it the hell up... I swear I will..

Yeah, I'll be calling the doc in the am... "Get me some pills that will get me to sleep doc or I'm coming down an' gonna do a little doc'in' on you.."...

I do remember how awkward it was to have to sleep on my back when I managed to fracture my shoulder several decades ago. After three or four weeks I got used to the position. You'll just have to tough out the five days and then do some additional spiritual healing with a match and a soup can full of gasoline, but stand backkkk!!!!!!

Sleep.. Bobert... I got a small prescription for Ambien. I actually cut them in 4 pieces and take 1/4 if I wake up...or to get off to sleep. If that seems not to work after 1/2 hr. or so, I take a 2nd 1/4 piece. It works 'pretty fast'. I am not sure how it reacts with pain meds.

Bobert... part of not "being able" to sleep on your back is your mind telling you that you can't. You can. I had to learn to do it so I started off by propping myself up a bit and I had to experiment to get the right angle. Same thing with teaching myself to lie FLAT face down with head turned and with my arms fully extended by my sides... THAT was very difficult but it had to be done to stop the carpal and cubital tunnel problems in both arms which occured during my weight loss (I lost about 80 pounds of fat and 20 pounds of muscle so that when I curled my arms up while sleeping it stressed the nerves).

I know that's TMI but it demonstrates that it can be done. Ya know, I just had a thought... unfortunate you were not warned long ago to practice different sleeping positions before the op. Mention it to the doc. Such a suggestion may help others in future.

Once again, bud, I hope you heal fast and well and get some sleep. Ya gonna talk to the nurse or doc about the meds? Is the pain subsiding at all? I'd love to see a pic of that riggin-friggin.

It tried to extricate itself last night while I was asleep and that little family fued woke me up because in attempting the escape act it put alot of pressure on the incision site making it feel like qa couple of wasps had gotten under the soft cast and were stinging the crud out of me...

I will have to get "the box" and the arm together fir a little talk and see if some accommodations can be made before tonight...

The box??? Arm and box have parted company on bad terms... I sleep with arm on a pillow and it seems to be working.. On Monday the soft cast comes off and then it's 4-6 weeks of rehab...   But I've already figured out how to ride the riding mower and been on my tractor a little, too...

But a major thank you to everyone who has been here in support... It means and has meant so much to me...

Good luck with this. I've only just chanced upon this thread, been busy lately. All the best my friend and do what the doctors tell you(within reason, obviously not if they tell you to stop doing things you enjoy).
Now, three or four years back I had them hacking away at my left hand like nobody's business. I didn't enjoy it one bit. But a couple of months later, I was playing guitar just as badly as I ever did before the operation. You see, it cvan be done.
You pray to your fellow, I will now recite a spell I know to invoke the spirits of Blind Willie Walker and Pink Anderson to come down and blow warm zephyrous caresses on that hand of yours.

ONLY a four inch incision? Shucks, I've dug out splinters that left a bigger incision than that! I remember the time I got an ironwood 12x12 stuck in my right hand. I had to use a chainsaw to cut that splinter out, and then I sewed it up with some used line I salvaged from an old hawser using a fishhook for a needle. I sterilized the wound with an acetylene torch so I wouldn't get blood poisoning before I sewed it up, of course. Healed up just fine.

You will too.

"phisiotherapy"??? Why did I type an *i*? I haven't smoked weed in years.

Bobert. Yes. Ya gotta exercise the wrist and hand by rollin joynts. Then, ya tear em apart and use yer pipe as a reward fer rollin a tight one. Rewarding the goal eh? Inscentive. Smell that?

"Popsie-wop" and "Bunny-Honey" are good too. Use them in combination and use them well. You now have The Power, grasshyper.

Well, well, well...

Seems that last night I tried to play some slide except my picking hand didn't have a "Bobert-hammer-nail" on it so it didn't work but...

...I felt I might be able to play so...

...today I went to see my "nail lady", she got my business fixed, and so I just tried out a couple songs, Robert Johnson's "Crossroads' and then my bluesified John Prine's "Paradise" and hit them both!!!

Couldn't believe it but, hey???

Of course, I'm playing around where I can get it done but...

...not bad, at all...

Voice??? Needs work... Can fake 2-3 songs but after that??? Twi-light zone...

B~

Dadgum it, Bobert, I told you to tell them not to cut around where they shouldn't oughta! You're now what's known as a "castrati." I dunno if there is much call for male blues sopranos.....

Well, other glands in the body can take over testosterone production, so try ten minutes a night and see what happens. Better not to get shots except as a last resort.

Covered by the Stones, so pretty famous.

BTW the singular of castrati is castrato (masculine form). Castrating a woman is unlikely.

I just figured that ol' Bobert had done gone and joined the Vatican Choir -- hence the plural form.
