The "Sticks and Stones" mantra is a defensive technique for the children. It works a lot better to ignore the taunts imagine them like water flowing off a duck's back than to quack back.


I'm not blaming Amanda or her parents I certainly despise what the pervert did and what the bullies did, but I wonder if she could have been counseled to handle it better. Suicide is so final.

The teacher I had in fourth grade was hell on bullies and everyone else. One of the girls in the class came from Turkey. On cold days she came to school in pants, taboo back then. Instead of sending a note home, the dear lady shamed the poor girl in front of the class.

She thought a boy's hair was too long, so she made him wear her Halloween fright wig.

Perhaps her finest hour, she shamed a girl in front of the whole class because the kid only had one pair of shoes.

But, as I said, she was hell on bullies.

The inter net can be great and it can be purdy fucked up...

I have a stalker here in Mudcat... It used to piss me off... I even thought about turning it over to the FBI and then...

...one day I woke up and said "Not my problem... It's his"...

Hard to internalize what goes on here in cyber-world but once you figure out that other people's mental issues aren't your's then all is fine...

Kinda hard to expect young people to get it when someone my age had to grapple with it...

children follow the example of the adults around them. as long as anglo culture condones and even praises adult bullying the children will follow.

henry krimgle, your outrageaos libels about president obama, what do you think people think that is , for example?

it looks like racist bullying to me. how do you think that makes people from minorities feel about participating on mudcat.

the vancouver folk song circle had the biggest bully of all, a nazi . singing hitler youth songs for years. what does anyone think that message was? it's ok to bully minorities, and any victums of the holocoust were driven out by the examp,e. i addition the real nazi inculcated bullying in his chlidren and they spent a liftime driving the "bad people" from their folk group. that is nothing but adult bullying. demonizing others in any way is bullying and if you are doing it you are telling young people its ok, even good. the culture of aggressiopn wins , wins out.
and i've had mudcat moderators say its ok to sing hitler youth songs, they used to be german folk songs. well its illegal in germany . you have to remove the nazi era verses. no one ion vancouver did that.

i certainly do not participate as much in mudcat as i used to of would if it were not for the racist and bullying attacks. and these are relatively mild, imagine whats going on out there in the cyber world.

agaim i told the story of the simngers club, when i once visited, i was told in no uncertain terms that no gaelic here, and they ran me off. again adult bullying. of course in britian folk groups are totally divided by race and class-- the ultimate culture of bullying.

i even had one ranting english nut accuse the acadiens of atlantic canada of stealing from the natives. the acadiens were the only group to marry into the native community and get along--and mostly still do. his people. the english, put a bounty on native scalps!!!! and ethnically cleansed the acadiens from their settlements

what booms louder than any words is no one ever ever comes to the defense of people under these attacks on muscat. you all sit on your hands and let the aggression win.in fact the victum is usually made fun of.
