Eliza, it seems to be something that happens only at Walmart.
Several times a year to me.
Now I make sure there is nothing in the cart before I take it.
They change baby's diaper out in the parking lot before they leave.
Toss it into the cart as they leave.
Store employees just leave it in there for the next shopper.

Henry, that's an insanitary health biohazard. If it happened here (which I seriously doubt) people would immediately inform the manager of the store, and the trolley would be withdrawn and disinfected thoroughly. "Tosser" is another popular UK term for it, means exactly the same thing as as "wanker". And another is "prat". Still more, "stupid git". Then again, "pillock" seems to have a bit of a following as well. And there's also "wassock", a related term. Deeply suppressed anger and rancorous bitterness are, after all, essential features of the British culture nowadays, perhaps because there is a surveillance camera mounted on every street corner, the government does whatever it bloody well wants to, regardless of popular disapproval, and the cost of living is far too high, and all these nasty little words such as "tosser", "wanker", and "useless git" serve well to help exorcise (or is that "exercise"?) those pent-up feelings of impotent rage and frustration one may experience in difficult times.

Little Hawk, I'm very surprised at the tone of your more recent posts. I've always really enjoyed seeing 'Little Hawk' on the list of posters, and hurried to see what you've said, as you're always so considered, interesting, fair and informative. But now you appear to be rather acid and bitter, and I'm wondering why this drastic alteration? In reply to your points, I don't feel we in UK are tormented by 'deeply suppressed anger and rancorous bitterness'. Our country has its problems, as does any other, but I've always felt we are, on the contrary, a cheerful and tolerant set of folk. That song 'Always look on the bright side of life, de-dah, de-dah-de-dah-de-dah' just about sums us up. The resounding success of the recent Olympics ( as judged by all the visiting nations) were IMO a testament to our national character.

I have noticed a lot of rancorous hostility amongst some of the UK members on Mudcat, though, specially when they start fighting about domestic politics.

I wouldn't say it's typical of the majority of UK posters. Just a handful of them.

Kelly bought a new electric stove. Great big oven with a light and a glass window in the door.

Now the whole purpose of a glass door is to see your cooking, so what do these moron designers do? They put TINTED GLASS in the door. So that everything you see in the oven is a dull grey. A great help when you are looking to see if those cookies are just starting to turn golden at the edges.

Eliza, you need to keep a pair of needle nose pliers in the kitchen for those corned beef cans. That's the only thing that can grab the broken end and continue opening the can.

And the person who designed that is probably long since gone to his just rewards; that's a pretty old design.

I can forgive designers of a century or more ago, they didn't know any better. But I'd like to get my hands on the twerp who designed my cell phone and put buttons on the outside, just where you pick the thing up. Every time I take my phone out of my pocket I bugger up the settings.

Maybe there's a special hell for bad designers where everything they touch goes wrong.

Yes Eliza, Every one is so true. I don't wear a bra myself, but often get to undo one;-)

I love corned beef, and the only way to open those cans is to remove the paper label first and open them very slowly.

I also hate those sachets, along with all shrink wrapped products. I'm seriously thinking of shrink wrapping some dollars for next time I buy that crap. And watch the clerk trying to get at the money.

Microsoft win the award today.

I set up my laptop so that it doesn't update automatically. I did manual update a little while ago and the stupid effing morons at Microsoft decided that this update should override my decision.

This afternoon I set up the laptop with Netflix so that Kylea could watch a cartoon while I was fixing lunch.

And Uberdumm Microsoft started an update. I had to stop making lunch and it took half an hour to get back to the cartoon.

In my experience, every error by a machine since computers were invented has been a result of "Firmware Input Thrombosis", which occurs whenever there is a static clot at the keyboard.
