Jeri, if time really were doughnut shaped then I'd eat it for breakfast; and throw the crumbs to the chickens.

Its obvious that chickens think about:

1. Beans.

2. Healthy lifestyle alternatives.

9's chickens think "bomp? how does one make that sound?"

Janie's chickens think "hehehe. She still remembers that little pet bantam rooster allowed to run the neighborhood that literally picked on her when she was 2 and 3, and she is secretly terrified, we can sense it." Then they think, "Oh no! Revenge - run!!!!"

This talk of chickens reminded me of an English prof I had who found it quite interesting that people hear the same sounds differently.

"What Sounds Do Chickens Make In Other Languages Such as French and German?

A rooster's crow is so distinctive that there isn't much variation between "cock a doodle doo!" (English) and "ku ku ri ku!" (Hebrew), "ko ki ko ko!" (Japanese), and "ku ka rzhi ku!" (Russian).

However, language differences appear when you start talking chicks and hens.

Chicks say "twit twit" in Arabic, "pip pip" in Danish, "plep plep" in German, and "jiap jiap" in Thai.

While to English-speaking listeners hens "cluck cluck," the sound becomes "cot cot cot codet" in French, "gak-gak" in German, "gut gut gudak" in Turkish, "gaggalago" in Icelandic, and "pak pak pak" in Hebrew."

Q: How windy was it?

A: It was so windy that I saw a chicken lay the same egg twice!

Eggs are going up, which is bad news for hens.
Bad news for 3 foot dwarves in the Cairngorms area. Six foot snow drifts.

Respect for Chickens day

Fried Chicken day is the same time as International Kissing Day, and Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day and Fiestas of San Fermin

- so why not take a chicken to lunch and kiss him/her, no bull?

And then, there is the World chicken festival in Kentucky, say no more about what that involves:
Fried chicken day

Am I seriously strange or strangely serious?
I'm focusing my thought-rays on being delerious
I've met the enemy, and I fear he is us
But the chicken is into corn porn and tick-picken
Not thinking about whether in her future she'll be finger-lickin'
And she's not afraid she won't get laid
There ain't no flappin'
Cuz it already happened.

She just hang around the shack 'till the farmer comes back
Singin buk, bu-buk bu-buk BUUUUUUUUK!

I lived on a farm when a lad. I had pet chicks now and then. But, I never gave them names. Maybe the name "little pecker" would have been fitting? But, a few of my boyhood friends may have been confused and answered, when I called the chick over, "come over here little pecker":):)

Each autumn our local community garden has its harvest fair, and they get several of us to provide the music for the occasion.

We are just part of the entertainment: they also play 'Chicken Bingo'. It involves placing three pet hens on a gridded bingo board; the first deposit on a stated cell wins the bettor something or another.

Clams are pretty good. Mussels may be even better. I just cooked up a whole pot of them earlier in the day, and they were lovely.

Meanwhile, the Chicken Chronicles roll gloriously on!

LOL... did not see the joke I was told long ago by a friend whose parents owned a chicken farm...

What's dumber than a chicken... two chickens.

That was before I started raising turkeys. Or sheep... ;)

I did have a nice little Cornish game hen that was a family pet and I'll have poultry again once I retire and can spend more time at the homestead.

As for roosters.... well, they'll rape anything slower than them... including drakes... lol   love in the barnyard is certainly eye opening.

While they cant vote or openly protest, thay can still think of it in private solitude.

A chicken rarely gets to think about retirement - or what it means to the species. Enjoying old age, and a good penion and the social security net is rarely an option to consider.
