It WAS about something once....go way back to the start and you will see that it was...but it's hard to say what it's about now. Sort of like the political parties in the USA and Canada and just about everywhere else...Ha! Ha!

Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser of two evils?

I've tried setting traps, tried industrial strength rat poison, but still this bugger won't go away.

It seems to have a life all of its own, which is more than can be said for the poor sods who keep posting to it. Present company excepted, of course!!!

What IS the fatal fascination for this thread? After all, it's not actually ABOUT anything, is it? OR IS IT?

Maybe that's it - subliminal messages from another dimension - try saying THAT when you're sober!!

Well I'll be damned, you go away for two weeks and a thread that is supposed to have been killed by many diabolical methods is still here waiting to be killed. Its just like the red ants in my garden, the more ant killer I put on them, the bigger they get.

I tried posting to this thread yesterday, (so that I could kill it of course) but it didn't work for some reason, so I am just posting this message to reassure you all that this time it really is over. There's nothing more to worry about. This thread hasn't got a chance. It'll be dead before the night is through.

Trust me! (why do those words always sound so insincere when used in conjunction with each other like that.)

Wooden stake(steak) and garlic? Sounds good to me. Give my wife the juiciest steak you can find and she'll find a way to make a wooden steak out of it, guaranteed.....!

...work, and I just couldn't resist posting to this thread. I know it is incredibly bad taste, especially now that almost everybody else doesn't think this thread is funny anymore, but I had had to do it. Somebody's gotta.
Just chalk it up to one of those almost-three-AM brain farts, that seem absolutely brilliant at the time.

You know, I think it is long past time for this thing to actually die.
Farewell, have a nice time in thread oblivion...

That's odd, hesperis, your message clearly is labelled as having gone in at 1:38 AM, and my machine presently thinks that it's 1:33 AM. Could this be a time warp? I have a sickening feeling that this thread will just go on and on forever.

You're it! (Oh, check your PM's)

Little Hawk, you should never have posted to this. You're the one with the talent for starting threads that go on for a verrrry long time...
And why did you do it? I wouldn't have thought that an energizer bunny like this one would be appetizing to hawks - too much plastic and metal. And the fuzzy nylon stuff gets in your beak...

Spaw, let's get it up to 350, ok?

You know, I have this horrible fear that I've killed it now. I start a thread and get like, 2 responses. I write something about Guy Fawkes in the British and American Cultural Differences 2 thread, and someone (*hrumpf*) thinks it was celticblues5 who wrote it!

I think I'll go back to the Greenman now... I need a drink... and sympathetic company...
I'm a thread-killer. *sob*

Unbelievable. A thread called "killing the thread" and it's now at 323 postings. If "jerks" like me didn't keep reacting to things like this, we could kill this damned thread and be done with it. If you think I'm going to read the whole thing, you're crazier than I am.

I am going to go and fill up the bathtub with hot water.

Then I will take this entire computer and drop it in.

That should do it.

If one were to read the "Why is Mudcat so slow" thread, they would realise that resources are tied up while a thread is being processed. Please consider the time that this one takes to download and at least think about a killing the thread #2 if this must be continued. I could be wrong on this but it appears that 2 or more shorter threads are far less of a strain on the MC resources than processing something of this size.

Jon

Goodbye old thread. To the archives you go.

On July the 18th, Terry K posted the following to this thread:

"Seems the only sure fire way to get a thread to last a long time is to say something about Ireland. Doesn't seem to matter what."

Well, since I've been a member of the Mudcat, I've killed at least one, and now possibly two threads by talking about Ireland. I don't know why, exactly, but in Ireland, I seem to have the knack for clearing a room. So maybe this post will kill the thread.

Best regards to everyone, Carol
