Subject: Lyr Add: THE HOUSE SONG (Peter, Paul & Mary) From: Joe Offer Date: 14 Oct 00 - 08:49 PM Darn! I was shooting for a record, but my Internet service is sluggish just now. A five-minute response time is miserable. Well, since Max wants us to post lyrics and not just links, here goes. I suppose you could take some time to analyze this song and come up with some sort of hidden meaning to it. Noel Paul Stookey is a very nice guy, but sometimes his lyrics are a bit foggy. -Joe Offer- THE HOUSE SONG Stookey/Bannard- Neworld Media Music Publishers-ASCAP This house goes on sale ev'ry Wednesday morning Take the grand look now the fire is burning Careful up the stairs, a few are missing This room here once had childish laughter Second floor, the lady sleeps in waiting How much will you pay to live in the attic? This house goes on sale ev'ry Wednesday morning You can find all of PP&M's lyrics at thsir website, http://www.peterpaulandmary.com |

Subject: RE: Help: PP&M song From: Naemanson Date: 15 Oct 00 - 09:11 AM Ow! I had forgotten this song. In the wake of my divorce it takes on new meaning. It reminds me of the last time I walked through the house my wife and I built, my footsteps echoing through empty rooms. This room here once had childish laughter And I come back to hear it now and again

Subject: RE: Help: PP&M song From: Amos Date: 15 Oct 00 - 09:37 AM This reminds me how much I used to dislike PP&M -- I listened to some of the G2 files on that website Joe pointed out, and recoiled at the patrician over-refinement and whitebread polish veneer they impose on songs. Rather listen to Frank Warner, or Bessie Smith, any day. I think they lack soul in a serious way A |
