"This Land" BBC2, 7:30pm on 3rd May 2002:

"Archeologist Paul Frodsham and Northumbrian piper Katherine Tickell explore archeological and musical legacies in the Cheviot hills"

Don't know what it will be like, but worth sampling, I think

It was great, it gave a really good view of the music and the land, nice. Kathryn came over well.

Cheers, Sam

Where are you weepiper? It was a pal living in the lee of the Mournes (Greencastle) who told me to tune into Katherine Tickell, which I duly did, I'm pleased to say.

I'm in Edinburgh. Is like Giok says, we run on a different timescale here apparently!

Tape Corrie and watch Tickell or vice versa!! Best of both worlds. If not, call my mum she knows everything to there is to know about Corrie. (signed Mrs. L.E.J.)

Lonesome EJ,

Unfortunately, that is impossible on my 'advanced' digital TV system

Managed to view the programme whilst channel surfing.

Serendipity!

Personally, I found the 10 secs of musical clips quite short. Frustrating when you know what a set of tunes should be like. Too much like a "sound bite" I thought.

"Wild Hills o' Wannies" came across really well, though.

Nice to see the youngsters being encouraged to play as well. :-)

Couldn't agree more. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Now then, a typical obscure question for you 'cats:-

We went to see Ms. Tickell a while ago and, 'tween songs, she told us of one of her grandfathers who had played organ at the local church up until the day that he managed to set himself on fire. (Don't go getting all upset. This was a humourous tale)

Unfortunately she then played another tune and ended her first set. She never told us how it all came about.

So does anyone know the full story of Kathryn's flaming grandad?
