Subject: Paltalk New Years? From: Susan of DT Date: 30 Dec 02 - 05:42 PM Paltalk does not seem to have mudcat groups very often any more. Frank of Toledo runs some, but they all seem to be during the workday on the East Coast. What happened to the Thursday/Sunday sessions? Is anyone interested in New Years Eve or New Years Day?? I'm not sure I know how to open the room - mudcat snug? or other. When do people want to do this? |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 30 Dec 02 - 06:28 PM I used to open the Sunday sessions at 7.00ish pm GMT, but got sick of waiting for 2 hours for folks to show up, despite giving notice and posting threads. I've been ill, busy and away for a while so not done it.. No-one has mentioned it or PM'd me about it so I just assumed people were no longer interested. LTS |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: bigchuck Date: 30 Dec 02 - 07:06 PM One sometime on New Years day would be nice. I have missed sessions badly, but I've been busy and not set up properly. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: katlaughing Date: 30 Dec 02 - 07:09 PM I haven't had much of a voice for singing and have been busy, but I think either NY's Eve or Day or both would be great and would try to be there. Thanks, Susan, for starting this, kat |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: SINSULL Date: 30 Dec 02 - 08:20 PM My mic is not working along with multiple other parts of my PC but I will be there for a New Year's Eve session if one opens. I check periodically but no one is there except a lot of Gospel/Bluegrass types who sing along to records and CDs, usually flat. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Susan of DT Date: 30 Dec 02 - 09:26 PM Liz - Can you PM me with how to open the room? Somewhere I have some codes (but not what to do with them), but I haven't seen that piece of paper lately.... I'm sorry you haven't been well. Are you OK now? Will you participate? Let's see what response we get to this and whether the votes are for Tuesday or Wednesday. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: momnopp Date: 30 Dec 02 - 10:41 PM I'll try to remember to check the thread NY eve to see if anyone's on, since where I'll be several 'catters will be gathered. Peace, JudyO |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: open mike Date: 30 Dec 02 - 11:26 PM frank of toledo does frequent the paltalk pages.. and some of the groups are LIVE---look for the "live only" groups the ones where folks do karaoke or sing along with recordings are really lame-off key and disgusting... i am able to get on to ;altalk now and would like to meet y'all there! jan 1 would be better... |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Francy Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:36 AM I'll be around and available all day New Year's Day... Will look for you Susan DT...If you need my room Old Time Hootenany group let me know.......Frank of toledo |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: GUEST Date: 31 Dec 02 - 04:13 AM Sorry I got 2 threads going... Thinking of MC and PT, I've hardly been on over the past month but just wondering as I hadn't "seen" her in a while whether Margaret V still goes there. I've missed not hearing her excellent (she should be a "pro" IMO) music. Jon |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Susan of DT Date: 31 Dec 02 - 05:04 AM So far we seem to be 1) split between Tuesday and Wednesday 2) mostly in the mudcat time zone (eastern US) which will make scheduling easier, but the Brits may not have seen this yet, except for Liz. Will someone PLEASE tell me how to open a room? If we do this tonite, when do people want to start? To include the Brits, we need to start early. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: GUEST Date: 31 Dec 02 - 05:29 AM Simple Susan. Make sure the person is on your Pal list. Open the groups page and chose the "Open or join a group as admin" from the admin menu. Select the group owner from the list and supply the "admin code". It's just as easy to form your own group. Just use the other admin optiom on the menu and fill in the details on the web page. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Susan of DT Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:16 PM There does not seem to be a lot of interest yet - I should have started this earlier. We are split between tonite and tomorrow, so we might try both and see what happens. Are any Brits going to join in? Is New Years celebrated much in the UK? I'll keep checking this thread today and tomorrow and will tentatively open a room at 7PM mudcat (eastern) time tonight and 2 pm tomorrow unless I hear interest for another time. I'll probably open a new room and call it something like "Mudcat Folk" with the usual password of DT. Remember to enable adult groups - that way no one can object if a song gets bawdy. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Francy Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:28 PM Sounds like a good start....Will be there both days....Frank of Toledo |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:30 PM Susan, I'll try to be there! I'll need to defrag my 'puter beforehand to be in good shape. I've missed hearing all the familiar voices. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: MMario Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:31 PM I'll be out at a party tonight - an overnighter - I haven't done much paltalk lately because my hookup is borderline not workable...plus I can't cound on getting a decent chucnk of time. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: GUEST Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:40 PM Is New Years celebrated much in the UK? Well if I thought "New Year", I'd first think of Scotland which I guess is part of the UK ;-) New Year is celebrated all over the UK but in some parts the greed of pubs has killed off some of the enjoyment, at least for me. I've got a choice of places tonight for free but I do find it sickening that some places have taken to adopting a charge on the door policy: "I've given you custom at least once a week and tonight you want to charge me (say) £10 for the priveledge of spending more money at your establishment" does not add up to me but there seems to be plenty willing to pay. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Susan of DT Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:48 PM OK it looks like we may get a critical mass going. If any Brits are interested, we can start earlier. Guest - in the states, people mostly go to parties at friend's houses. There are also some big, formal, expensive parties in hotels and restaurants. And a LOT of people get drunk - it is a good night not to be driving. See you all later |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: open mike Date: 31 Dec 02 - 04:17 PM 7 p.m. eastern will be 4 pm pacific time... I'll check in...i'll come wearing a funny hat with tinsel on top and bring a whistle. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: katlaughing Date: 31 Dec 02 - 04:18 PM Thanks, Susan! I'll tune in at least for a bit tonight and definitely tomorrow. |
Subject: RE: Paltalk New Years? From: Susan of DT Date: 31 Dec 02 - 06:59 PM The room is open: Mudcat Folk. Password DT. 7PM Mudcat (Eastern) Time |
