Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: open mike Date: 18 Mar 04 - 02:27 PM If you just put bug in my beer in the lyrics and knowledge search you getall this information: If you search for this in the mudcat search box you will find reference to this thread: http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=42366#615206 Which mentions this web page: http://www.patuxentrecords.com/nu-cd038.htm the artists and title are: # Jay Summerour and Warner Williams # "Hey Bartender, There's a Big Bug in my Beer" There is a sound file (real audio) here: http://www.pxrec.com/Patuxent_Blues-williams-home.htm In thr future, when you have a question always search first and you can often find the answer. Welcome to mudcat...there are many answers here! (and questions too) |
Subject: well excuse me!! From: paul1149 Date: 18 Mar 04 - 03:01 PM i actually did a search "big bug in my beer" on mudcat, both basic and advanced and turned up nothing. i guess i just don't know how things work around here. have a nice day, by the way there is no such word as thr |
Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 18 Mar 04 - 04:24 PM Paul, Yesterday I posted words to a song that was already in DT. I had done a search using the title that I knew and found nothing so I posted it. I later posted some key words and found it under a different title. It would seem that the same happened here. Such is the strange workings of computers. Sandy |
Subject: thanks sandy From: paul1149 Date: 18 Mar 04 - 04:38 PM and i guess i was trying to use too much info by using the full name of the song, which is big bug in my beer, not bug in my beer. i just thought the response was a little o.t.t. i am aware that warner williams and jay summerour recorded this song, but they do not claim to have written it, i was hoping to find out more about where it came from cheers paul |
Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 19 Mar 04 - 03:41 PM Openmike, I just tried, and the Bug in my beer only comes up with this thread. Strange! |
Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 19 Mar 04 - 03:50 PM BTW, that thread doesn't deal with really anything about the song, except for that one line. A search of the 'net and you get a few things, including a request back last November, searching for the lyrics to a song from the '20s or '30s, titled There's a Big Black Bug in My Beer. Wonder if it is the same. |
Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: open mike Date: 19 Mar 04 - 03:54 PM you didn't get this one? A thread about... MUSIC! - Dec 23 2001 2:38AM - Wincing Devil i didn't mean to be--what is it -- pedantic? just wanted to give some idea how to make use of the resource here...][ often newcomers find mudcat by searching for lyrics and many times when there is a guest post it can be assumed that the person is not familiar with all the wonderous facets of the site here..and so i jsut was saying, as has often been said before to guests, try the search engine before posting a question and you may find answers! sorry if i seemed over the top. over the top of what? we often coin words here such as "getall" which is a typo in my first post...some times mudcatters acquire a language all our own! I believe i did also include a "welcome" to you! |
Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: Allan C. Date: 19 Mar 04 - 04:02 PM I did a bit of poking around and will share the following quote from a web page about The 14th Annual DC Blues Festival. Whether playing his own Hey Bartender There's a Big Bug in My Beer, reworking a Tommy Johnson blues like Big Road Blues into what it would have sounded if it had been written by Blind Boy Fuller or doing a Piedmont blues classic like Red River Blues, Warner Williams astonishes with his guitar mastery and touches with the soul and warmth of his vocals. This would appear to answer the question as to authorship of the song. |
Subject: thanks for the info allan From: paul1149 Date: 19 Mar 04 - 04:43 PM i actually got a copy of the warner williams/jay summerour cd today, so i will just cop. their version, they do only claim arrangement on the credits however, paul |
