Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Amos Date: 12 Sep 04 - 09:52 AM Kendall's biopsy: I was born long ago in Eastern Maine, the youngest of 411 children... walked to school in the snow thirteen miles each way, up hill going and coming. ... refused to grow up until someone gave me a banjo... since then have made a career telling people things that aren't true, singing songs and distressing eligible women...but I am one helluva folksinger, anyway... What do you mean, spelling? A |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Genie Date: 12 Sep 04 - 06:26 PM Amos, I think Kendall put you up to writing that "biopsy." So doesn't that make it an autopsy? And it's way too soon for one of those, dontcha think? §'-D Kendall, I hope your biopsy results are the same as the CT scan of Spaw's head. (They found nothing.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: GUEST,jacqui.c Date: 12 Sep 04 - 08:54 PM Hi all Kendall has read and appreciated all your comments. At the moment he really doesn't know what reply to make so I'm just going to say thank you to all of you for making him laugh and feel glad that he has so many friends thinking of him right now. He's scheduled for 7.30 tomorrow morning. We'll update you as soon as we get back from the hospital. I love the lot of you. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Deckman Date: 12 Sep 04 - 09:18 PM Jeeze Kendall ... you did it again. I'm holding in my hands ... even as I type ... another damned citation from the Everett City Fire Department. Something all that damned candle smoke that scared the neighbors ... again. Sure wish you'd stop this crap! Bob |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: GUEST,jacqui.c Date: 13 Sep 04 - 11:30 AM Well, we've not long got back from the hospital. Kendall is a little tired but is finding it difficult to comply with doctor's orders and not talk! He is, however, doing somewhat as he is told, even if just for a short while. The doctor has 'some concerns' about what the growth is and we have to wait a few days for the biopsy results now. They can't really say how long that will take but we should have the results before the end of the week. We'll keep you posted. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 13 Sep 04 - 05:50 PM I can't thank you all enough for your support. This is very nervous making for me because it could mean the loss of my voice totally. I'm trying to remain positive, but in all honesty, I'm as nervous as a Christian Scientist with a severed artery. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Deckman Date: 13 Sep 04 - 06:05 PM I'm sure this must be HELL for you. I know, I've also sweated out biopsy reports. It's times like this that you'd think that someone, somewhere, in the medical diagnosis and communication area would realize your mental suffering and have the consideration to pick up the phone and call you, even if it's "after hours." Bob |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Stilly River Sage Date: 13 Sep 04 - 06:09 PM Kendall, your "voice" is much more than the noises that come from your throat. It is there in how you convey your thoughts, in your word choices, in what you write, and in preferences you express in many ways. How you make sounds to convey those words is important, but there are many other ways to communicate. Were you to be struck dumb tomorrow, you'd still have plenty to say and many who want to read or otherwise understand your meaning. In a choice between your life or your vocal chords, you won't lose your "voice." SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: CapriUni Date: 13 Sep 04 - 06:22 PM Well, durn! I was hoping I could breathe again, today... Oh well, I can go a little bit longer if you can... Inhales deeply, and sends you healing thoughts. Joys and lovings. Ann PS. What Stilly said. Your "voice" is more than the noises that come from your throat, even with fully functioning vocal chords. In the worse case scenerio (which I am not foreseeing), I fulling expect you to invent your own banjo language... after all, a banjo is much more portable than an orchestral harp... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Ron Davies Date: 13 Sep 04 - 09:42 PM Kendall-- You're a fighter. Fortunately for us, you're on our side. Nothing will silence you---somebody has to be there to speak reason to the rest of the Down-East'ers--- ('Mainiacs' is considered bad form, no?) |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 15 Sep 04 - 01:47 AM I got the results yesterday, and it is not good. The cancer is back. Next step is a C.A.T. scan to see if it has spread. If it has, all bets are off. If not, I have to choose among three options: 1 Total removal of voice box. No voice at all. 2 Partial removal. That would mean being left with a raspy voice. 2 Removal of just the cancer by laser or scalpel. That would mean a raspy voice and the chance of the cancer coming back. Life sucks sometimes. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: artbrooks Date: 15 Sep 04 - 08:41 AM Shit!! Anyway, I worked for a guy once who had had his larynx removed, and he communicated very effectively with one of those gadgets that looks like a large mic. He couldn't raise his voice to yell at me, but it sent tone of voice quite well. Hard decision to make, but you know that we are all with you. |
