Yes it arrived yeasterday I got it last night Carol waited to open it when I got hime, sorry first time I had to post something decent, Thank you for my tie I love it. I like ties I must be of the few folkies who wear tie outside of weddings and in the dock. The erotic scifi/fantasy literature is great carol's hairband goes beutifully with her red and orange hair. and How you managed to pick our favourite dark chocolte covered coffee beans is beyond me, Im on a diet a cCarol has threatend a good kicking if I knick any. I will cajol her into using the writing paper (although she promisis she will write) and the fridgemagnets are on our fridge no champagne yet but we wait in eager anticipation _we will try out the bath soap stuff soon, Carol has been signed off for another ten days and all this stuff has cheered her up no end. Thanks Cllr. Maybe The Postal service is doing this on purpose so they can deliver all the pressie with great flare on that night of nights: Christmas EVE! I hope you have postal service tomorrow. We do here in the States. That's not really letting anything out of the bag - she must know by now that I am in the USA.

In case you don't get to the Present thread..I ordered her a Bottle of champagne this afternoon from Drinkon.com in the UK. They should deliver it within a few days. I don't know how much the doctor wil advise letting her have but hopefully she can have at least a sip of it on New Year's eve and toast my photos and the photos of my dog.

The only thing worse than having no Secret Santa is having to tear your hair out waiting for your Santee to get their Pressies!!!! URGGGH.

I'll go try and make myself useful about the House. Topday I planted some more Winter squash and herbs. Tomorrow I'll be digging some new vegetable beds and casting some wild-flower seed in anticipation of the February rains that will bring them all up here. We do not do the Xmas hoopla here.

Hope my santee is getting some rest and feeling better every day.

Carol loves christmas and we observe the full season more decorations always welcome. You are very beautiful in spirit as well as in person so keep sending photo's of yourself!, Carol is dstring to move a bit now and the physio says we can vist the neices (who are two and five) as long as I drive careful and give carol the odd rest break. Oh Santa I am being SOOOOOOOOO VERY VERY UNBELIEVABLY GOOOOD I am even amazing myself. I've even come to work today despite being On Holiday since Friday (Ok I admit it was to see if any parcels had arrived!!!! Our school office shuts now until after new Year I think so it will be a New Year surprise!!!!

Ooooooh . . . something is wending it's way to the wilds of Nottingham in the heart of southern New Hampshuh, New Knighted Snakes!

The tree is up, lights are on it, wooden cranberry garlands wrapped around, even a tree topper. Just barely started putting ornaments on. Hope to have more on before the end of the week. Alas, no sparkly bats or irridescent squid, just musical instruments, cats and the like. Oh, and one light-up flamingo.

I found out the hard way that there is no "my pressie has arrived thread..it's actually the more diginfied "My secret santa Present has arrived". Can you imagine?

So..if you toddle over there, you can all gloat about your pressies.

I,on the other hand, have no Secret Santa/Soltcie pal/Saturnalia Despot..whatever.

And..to rub salt in the wound...my secret Santee is literally flat on her back in horrid pain and I can't do anything to relieve it except post funny hints.

I've decided I want the Mayor of Schenectady to be my Secret Santa. He can send me a one-way ticket back East so I can play in the snow in Schenectady and get the Hull out of this freakin' hot climate I'm in. It's 80 degrees today. Not a proper winter, no sir.

Maybe he'll just send me a postcard from fair Schenectady which IS far nicer than Hull. That would be nice.

I'm still trying to get a freind of mine to burn a CD of old folk tales as told my my now-deceased grandpa who told stories about the logging casmps in Canada..some of them spooky and eerie tales, some of them funny.

I have him singing some songs too..one called "Dunderback's Terrible Machine" about grinding up cats and long-tailed rats into sausages. I tried to find it in Digitrad with no luck. I maye have to enter it myself since the uncles are carrying on the tradition and adding new verses.

It goes..

Oh Mr. Dunderback why'd you have to be so mean...

So you're the chocoholic in the family? Well, since there are chocolate bars in the Pressie box and you've been so helpful, it would be fine if you snack on one as you feed me hints. There are more chocolate items coming in box number two. That's the one with Tea and treats to consume as soon as it arrives..but not all at once..you'd get a tummy ache. I out in two boxes of pastry twists that I simply LOVE to have with my own Tea. So...you all can make a pot of tea and eat pastry twists and pretend you are me!

In fact, when you make your household shrine devoted to ME...you can leave a cup of tea and a twist below my picture as you offer up prayers and incense. Doing so will ensure delivery of more twists throughout the year as well as peace, prosperity and good health.

You've been ever so helpful Cllr..now all you need to do is tell me a bit about the types of music she would like. I'm making a tape of Shawn Colvin as I type. The annoying thing is, my CD player/Casstete system is on the fritz so I bought a portable...just t make tapes for Caorl and..get this....The sound blleds through from side A to side B! What's up with that? SO I can now only make one-sided tapes. ARGGGH. I'm making them anyway in the hopes of sending some tapes before Twelth Night.

Ha she guessed who I am yet? She must have some idea. Did she see my clue about knowing Lee Modessit? Not well mind you..just to say hello. It's been years, literally years since I've run into him..maybe not since 1996 Worldcon.

Do you or she read much comics? I was thinking of maybe including something of Gil's work since I mentioned that he gave me away at my wedding. I used to go to comic Con every year until he passed away. It was like a Family Reunion for us.

I'll dig out some old SF magazines that have my name on the masthead and send them along with the last box as proof I'm not blowing smoke.

Incidentally, Peg Leg Pierce, the International Spokespirate is a very good friend of mine. If Carol would like any baubles, perhaps I can speak to him and he'll open his treasure chest up. He is kind to pretty wenches this time of year.

Does Carol have a favorite animal she likes to have Plush toys of?

My favorite is any kind of doggie but I especially love Huskies and Alsatians. I have an Alsatian as you no doubt have noticed. You can make a Household Shrine to him as well and when you offer up prayers and insence to him, he'll grant you safety from burglars and a never-ending supply of biscuits. I also like Penguins, Pandas and kangaroos. One is never too old for plush toys says me.

The milk thing is just milk but Im the monster chocoholic so dairy products is fine. I let her have the sweets the Ouzo is lovley. I did once get a hangover from playing chess till four in the morning and not paying attention to how much ouzo I had drunk the taste in the back of my throat was so bad the following day that I wanted to wear my tongue outside my mouth for several hours.
I will make sure she doesnt overdo it though but she can be very determined. soory If I havnt ben writng enough I will try harder Cllr

Hello Cllr:

Well, glad to hear that Caolr is up and about.. a little. Don't let her overdue it or she'll be flat on her back forever!

So her inhjury has permitted you to snag ANY and ALL identify items from the cards and packages? Very good. And here I was sad that I might have spoiled the game by revealing my identity in the first Pressie box.

Did you let her have the sweets? besides the Ouzo? Of course, it could be the Ouzo candies that have lifted her spirits you know..Ouzo-anything has that effect! Even the fumes!

The Chai is to be consumed whenevr she'd like and is supposed to have medicinal qualities if you believe all that alternative nonsense. Last year is was Chai that everyone here was drinking, then Rooibos now its Yerba Mate or White tea. What next, Pine needles? Buffalo Chips? We are nothing over here if not slaves to trends. The chai's not so bad, I'd simply rather have a nice cup of some strong black Tea or green..so long as it isn't tarted up.

SO what am I supposed to do with the Salami and Panatone if I can't fob them off on you and Carol? nobody HERE wants them!
Okay..since getting answers out of Cllr is like pulling teeth, I'll try again...

Okay..so..no froo-froo hair thingies...

howsabout nail polish? Does she do her nails? Lipstick? I'm not asking for the heck of it..I actaully have in my big box of random accumulated pressies..some nice nail laquer and fine lipstick.

The only pressie that remain here with me arethe apprael pressies which may not get sent this week. If I do get around to them, she'll have them in time for 12th night.

RIght now I'm trying to make a few cassette tapes of nice winter music for her and figure out how to burn a CD of my grandfather's folk tales from tapes I collected of him before his death. If I can manage that, would she like such a thing?

When you can Cllr, give me some more hints and play the game with me!

Okay..to try and ensure that maxim pressie arrive BEFORE the big day, I resisted waiting and including everyhting I have for the last bunch in one box..instead..I sent wahat was wrapped out today in a small box. If I manage to get it toegther enough to get the rest done, they'll go out tomorrow but perhaps not. I have been neglecting my other Santa duties in favor of carol. Time to please the folks in MY own country.

If my guesstimate is corect, Pressie box Three or two and half as the case may be, should arrive on or about the 24th if indeed you have postal service on that day. I stuck in another photo of myself so Carol can set up a household shrine to me and offer up prayers and inscense to my image.

Nothing very fabulous in this pressie box..just little bits of things here and there to amuse. it's not like Champagne carol is being showered with costly Pressies. They are just more little doodads for her to unwrap. Since I hadn't much to go on in terms of music, I didn't want to gobroke on CDs and find she hated what I'd sent. other mudcatters no doubt are getting very swell CDs. I sent carol one cd and it is used to boot. Don't want other mudcatters getting jealous now.

That drat reindeer hasn't made it back here yet after stopping off in Ampthill. He's probably found a Pub somehwere and is beating a bodhran out of time with his hoof and annoying the person who is trying to sing unaccompanied. No worries however, we've cut off his credit card so when he notices no more ale is forthcoming, he'll fly home.

There's till time to play and answer some of my questions, Cllr. I'll check back.

ahhhh..so you dipped into the Ouzo candy! Very good. Did it get you pissing drunk? I myself have been afraid to try that stuff given my last experience with Ouzo at a Greek Orthodox Wedding in 1993. What anasty hang-over Ouzo gives! Those candies are very popular at my spouse's office where they have big tins of them. I just thought they looked pretty and in the absence of champagne....

You know, you are probably right about meats and cheeses and such. Unless they are sent from the manufacturer or food seller, probably best to be avaoided although I don't know why Brtian would object to us sedning you our non-diseased beef. A bit touchy after the Mad-Cow incidents, eh? Just as well. The salami was rather large. ( those of you with dirty minds may ROFL now)

If she doesn't do milk, does she eat Chocolate? I hope so becuase I sent some which should be evident by now as it was unwrapped. If she doesn't do milk because of Lactose-intolerance, I believe that Chocolates and candies are usually well-tolerated.

Of ocurse if she just generally Intolerant of milk and prejudiced against it, that's another story. I can feel another Mudcate thread coming on about the evils of Milk Intolerance and how Milk is a tradition that must be oreserved even if Milk offends some people. You know, how all the great songs about Milk should stil be perfromed WITH MILK MUSTACHES mind you even if 'modern' non-milk enthusiasts don't understand why it is still done since it's a silly old tradtion whose time has passed..yada..yada..yada.


So, no Milk, no meat..

So you must know Joel Tobeck pretty well then CCSS? he he he.
Anyway We eat meat not sure if customs might have a problem I dont know. Carol is very grateful for the post I read them to her and she loooooves them. We love books and the recipes are a treasure I will attemp them soon ( I dont do gluten carol doesnt do milk we both love cheese but again sending that might be problimatical. We both adore books (as long as they are not to heavy to post) and the wrapped prezzies are under our Xmas tree. the ouzo sweets are lovely and got us to wondering if you mixed ouzo with wiskey would you get an ouzi (only if served in a nine milimeter shot glass we havnt tried the tea yet and if I havn't said it before THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU you are a ray of sunshine in a difficult time for us thank you hugs and kisses mike and Carol

Okay..still poking about and choosing what things to include and what to forgoe.

Does Champagne Carol paint her nails?
Doe she have long hair?
Does she wair fancy hair ties, barrettes, clips, sticks, ornamanets, etc...?
Does she wear make-up?
Does she wear perfume?
Is she a consumer of animal flesh? I was going to ask if she ate meat, but I can just IMAGINE the jokes that might bring about.
In other words, is she a vegetarian? a Vegan? some type of other food conscientious objector?

Why..there's this Aussie website I found that sells Kangaroo jerky. I thought it might be an amusing item. I think they also have crocodile jerky.

I can also get Buffalo Jerky here as well as salmon and tuna jerky.

Please get back to Cllr. I have to mail this pressie box by tomorrow my time.

I can't be certain I'd be able to send anything more after Pressie box three..maybe...but if I did it wouldn't get there until AFTER Xmas.
