Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Mary in Kentucky's Secret Santa Date: 27 Oct 04 - 06:59 AM Dear Mary, I have told Boris the Chief Elf and Delvene the Elvene to stop mucking around and get back to work. Delvene hasn't finished her shopping for you yet, she is very naughty and has been spending a lot of time lately with Boris among the empty Santa Sacks. I would rather not know what they are doing. The reindeer are looking a bit dazed lately too. Best Regards Santa |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Sorcha's Secret Santa Date: 27 Oct 04 - 06:46 AM They seek him here, they seek him there, they seek him everywhere! Ho! Ho! Ho! |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: JennieG Date: 27 Oct 04 - 03:48 AM Santa, I will make sure the chimney is not blocked when you fly over! Just watch out for a large ginger cat on our roof, that's Belle - she likes to sit on the edge of the chimney when she's not inside eating. Cheers JennieG who is still trying to be very very good...... |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 27 Oct 04 - 02:56 AM Actually in my younger days, I quite like Perry Como. I think the old 'crooners' really did know how to sing technically rather well - most of them grew up in the days before much in the way of artificial amplification, so they had to learn how to use their voices properly. Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Mudlark's in the Morning Mysterioso Santa Date: 27 Oct 04 - 02:24 AM Oh my dear little Mudlark come lately You've been good now you've posted So let's keep this ball rolling Ere Christmas comes a'tolling! Three corgis, you say! My word! And pots thrown? I hope they weren't special Or ones of your own!:-) There, now I've done it Paid no heed to my dog, Earl Ell, Not to worry though, dearie I've secrets won't tell. Kindred spirits? Well, yes, I'd say so and more Though land lay between us No distance before (us). Puzzle that out if you will Watch your mail for hints By Yuletide you just might Figure out who your Sant is! Ho!Ho!Ho! |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Mudlark Date: 27 Oct 04 - 12:54 AM Dear, dear Mysterioso (ohhhhh!) Santa... It's sorry I am that I've been so lax In letting you know some prefs and some facts Somehow you've already sussed, it seems I'd choose doggerel any time over choc. creams So below are some suggestions But feel free to go off in other directions As a versifier you must be a kindred soul I'll like what you like, you're on a roll. _____ Music: Eclectic, instrumental, any good guitar work, be it folk or classical; trad jazz, particularly 50's West Coast; classical, particularly baroque (not into heavy orchestral). And, of course, your own music, or any music you want to share that you really like. Books: Contemporary fiction, not scifi/fantasy/mystery. A few fav. authors:Ann Lamott, Jill Vandenburg, Kate Atkinson, Gavin Maxwell, John Gardner, Marilyn Durham. Poetry: recently read a poem of Ted Hughes on MC, would love a book of his work, esp. one that includes "Wind." I really like used books, also CD's that someone ELSE has managed to strip off that @#$% plastic wrap. I've got 3 corgis, so a corgi calendar would not be amiss, also could always use another Kayser (sp) capo (clamp type) or a more interesting guitar strap than the boring cheapo I have. I like silver jewelry and dangly earrings (only ear wires have to be silver). My house is tiny and full, with very little vertical or horizontal space left for 2D and/or crafts. Having said that, I'm a retired studio potter, so would treasure a good mug or bowl from your local mudslinger. And apologies again, dear Mysterioso, for taking so long Send me something you like, and you wont go wrong. Sincerely, Mudlark Come Lately |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: open mike Date: 26 Oct 04 - 10:46 PM ALREADY A COUPLE OF MESSAGES HAVE ARRIVED IN THE MAIL FROM MY SANTA...AND i am curious about their source... at first i thought Kilmer trail in north carolina. http://www.main.nc.us/graham/hiking/hiking.html http://www.main.nc.us/graham/hiking/joycekil.html but now it looks like camp kilmer in new joisey http://www.sauruspress.com/lookback/worldwars/kilmer.htm either way it has been fun tracing....he is best known for this poem: Trees--Joyce was a soldier killed in WW1 http://www.main.nc.us/graham/hiking/trees.html this posem was memorized by many school kids in the U.S. and since you are watching me so closely you will see I am being a good girl Santa...and mine is the third chimney on the left... |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: artbrooks Date: 26 Oct 04 - 07:31 PM Sian, wasn't it mail to/from Canada that you were discussing? I checked their (US Postal Service) website today, so they haven't updated it if they have changed the rules. BTW, Jenn says that your applebutter pie receipe doesn't say how much butter to use. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: sian, west wales Date: 26 Oct 04 - 06:35 PM art, take a look at my posting here from 20 Oct. The rules are changing. And I remember it was just before last Christmas when the US also clamped down on any kind of foodstuffs ... but somehow my jar of Marmite got through to Jimmyt. Funny, that. sian |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Amergin's SS Date: 26 Oct 04 - 06:35 PM All going to plan. Quick trip to OZ very helpful. Working on the delivery details. Listen for the Ho! Ho! Ho! and the tinkle of bells. Do you have a chimney? A very big, wide chimney? Don't expect the singing of Rudolph the Red-nosed Raindeer though. Never did care for that horrible song and neither did Rudolph. SS of Amergin. |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST, Elves report for Micca's Santa Date: 26 Oct 04 - 03:07 PM The Getaway reports are still coming in and the present is taking form. Be afraid dear man, be very afraid. It appears to be a compilation of opposites. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Kim C's secret Santa Date: 26 Oct 04 - 03:00 PM Elves were on overtime this weekend and found a present I hope you will like - why do I always end up with something I would like too? Clue (1):- How long does it take for Santa to get from the UK to you? |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: artbrooks Date: 26 Oct 04 - 10:57 AM Return address are encouraged but not necessarily required in the US. The rules are here. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: SINSULL Date: 26 Oct 04 - 10:52 AM Lynne - I always tell. And with Security restrictions here in the US, I believe they won't deliver it without a return address. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,SeaKing's Secret Santa Date: 26 Oct 04 - 10:25 AM flames no detterent; but lack of chimney or flue makes delivery awkward. The reindeer have been threatening to go on strike if I include the Christmas Elephant I found in Siam (tastefully decorated in red velvet and silver bells on the harness) just because it out-masses all of them. considering that it is such a miniscule addition to the 3.6 billion other presents in the sack I am tempted to take it to abitration. what do you think? Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: MBSLynne Date: 26 Oct 04 - 06:42 AM BTW...when we send stuff to our Santee, do we let them know who we are, or do they have to guess? Love Lynne |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Blackcatter Date: 25 Oct 04 - 08:41 PM By the way, I'm writing this while sitting in training to be a pollworker in Orange County (Orlando), FL. Don't worry, I'm paying attention. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Blackcatter Date: 25 Oct 04 - 08:37 PM Hey there Santa. I don't spend much time below the bar anymore so really have little plans about contributing on this list. I watch it everyweek or so, but since I haven't really looked at anything other than the hurricane threads and the secret santa threads since July, I don't always keep up to date (and I'm much happier not reading all the enflaming posts). If you have specific questions, feel free to post them. Or check my posts - I have pretty extensive ones - and have specific types of threads I engage in up above. ta. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: moonglow Date: 25 Oct 04 - 08:13 PM No, SRS, my santa has also gone missing. Perhaps we should file a missing person report? Or would they just laugh at us for saying we've lost our Santas? |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: My guru always said Date: 25 Oct 04 - 03:30 PM Pseudolus' SS: So glad that things are calmer for you & your little helpers now, delighted to have been of assistance! Sounds like you are close to my Dear Own Secret Santa (Blessings be upon him / her). From your very correct grammar & spelling it is obvious that you're not from Hull, so that has whittled down my own guessing game *grin* Meanwhile, please do continue with the poetry, after all, practise makes perfect!! Compliments of the Season.... |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Teresa's Secret Santa Date: 22 Oct 04 - 10:26 PM Hi Teresa, I just had to tell you that I found what I think might be the perfect gift for you. I have just been checking it out and it really says a lot about my local area, and an integral part of my whole life, as well as being something which I think you will appreciate. I hope you like it. I'm excited that now that I have finally bought it it is just what I was looking for as a present for you. Now I also want to get one for my father because he will like it a lot too, I think. I'm still looking for some shiny things for you but this is the main present. Your Secret Santa |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Crane Driver Date: 22 Oct 04 - 02:03 PM Hmmmmmm - hints? or red herrings? Apparently my Santa is a "him" and of a Northerly persuasion (or is that just living up to the stereotype?) also: it appears Santa can't rhyme (or is that just the first two lines of a stanza?) more worryingly: My Santa's got no Reindeer! You shouldn't have to pull the sled yourself, you know. What happened to Rudy & the boys? Sacked for gross misconduct? Or downsized to ensure the viability of future delivery operations? I await the next installment with baited . . . er, bait red herrings? or hints? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Happy wotmas! Andrew |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Seaking Date: 22 Oct 04 - 10:53 AM SS No flue, we've all had the jab. Got a big chimney but it's about 200ft tall and usually has a large flame on top so don't recommend even in the interest of maintaining tradition - singed beards, asphyxiation and all that sort of stuff (tends to make the Risk Assessment tricky). Lots of HVAC but heavily filtered and liable to sudden shutdown if things get hairy - no SS bypass switch included in original design philosophy unfortunately, a dreadful oversight. Anyway, it's only a holiday home. My other part-time residence has no control rooms, 4 real chimneys (flames at the bottom), less security , allocated seasonal rooftop parking - AND you can have a drink !! Cheers SS HMS |
