Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,SS to the Marvellously Musical Tinker Date: 31 Oct 04 - 05:21 AM Aha, your lovely Blue-Jay doesn't look as large as our Jay, so the answer is No (yet again). However, your Blue-Jay looks to be the same size as our Nuthatch, which is about the same size as a Kingfisher! Note to self: will have to learn how to give decent Hints!! Meanwhile, your stocking is filling up Dear Tinker..... |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Rustic Rebel Date: 31 Oct 04 - 03:44 AM Oh me Santa, me Santa, I know that your out there. Will you appear in a dream, since I don't see you around here? |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,JennBrooks' Secret Santa/Armadillo Wrangler Date: 31 Oct 04 - 01:57 AM Dear Jenn...I'm very glad to hear from you. Now that you know I'm "on your case" so to speak, I think I can depend on you staying good, at least until your package arrives. Now, um, about that armadillo. Being Santa I'm not allowed to force an armadillo into anything about which he or she has the least reservation. I probably shouldn't have mentioned the cats. I'm not sure cats even believe in Santa Claus, or that they would see me as a valid cat-type reason to be good even if they did. In case the armadillo backs out I will put the additional information regarding your knitting and beading to good use. However, you seem to live in an unpronounceable town. I hope I wont need to ask for directions! A full-size 3D seed bead hummingbird sounds delightful, as do you, I must say. Santa/AW |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,A Curmudgeonly Santa Date: 30 Oct 04 - 07:19 PM Well, have you been good? You'd better have been! I'm looking out for various treats for you from somewhere in the world (no clues as to where though!) and I've got the elves busy too. Christmas is coming! |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: jennbrooks Date: 30 Oct 04 - 04:17 PM Dear Santa! I'm pretty excited about that armadillo. Wonder what the cats will make of it. (Lunch?) I like to knit socks and mittens 'cause they make up fast. Of beads, mostly seed bead things. I like small crystals or stone chips or charms or molded/sculpted/relief patterned ones--I guess small is the operational word. Oh, I just bead earrings and other fairly delicate jewelry and decorative bits. I learned from a pattern to make a three-dimensional hummingbird (seed beads) about the size of the real thing--stuff like that. Enough about me already! Are you having a nice run-up to Christmas or the solstice holiday of your choice, I hope? |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST, Secret Santa Him- or Herself of My Guru Alw Date: 30 Oct 04 - 04:07 PM Whatsis? Reply to thread line can't cope with long identifiers? Oh Well. Dear, dear long suffering and patient My Guru Always Said, it is finally the weekend and I finally get a chance at the computer to write to you--after all, I don't get a grand government pension like some in this household, and I have to be out slaving away so I can afford to buy bonbons for the elves and bits of treats and little gifts and such--whine, whine, are there any crackers and cheese to go with that whine, we say around here. Anyway, I'm glad he- or she- the other mudcat at this address- is such a good secretary, and he- or she also does a fair job of dishwashing, laundry, and sweeping the odd floor, but I digress. It's just so lovely having computer time! Anyway, I like women's voices too, and there are a couple of things in that line that I like and you might too--and as her- or himself says, busy hands are happy hands, so there might be something in the making for you, too. Never despair. I really don't get to hang around the computer much, for one thing there's usually another body parked in the chair--but I will try to be a better correspondant--Love,--whoops! |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Tinker Date: 29 Oct 04 - 10:15 PM Yes Santa, the Mister says I'm always good, even when I occaisionally run out of chore time... Does that count ? Besides you keep saying really wild things about me. Can a housewife from New Jersey have World Renown ??? I'm guessing your prone to a bit of exaggeration. If I add that to the number of 'catters with Black cats I've probably narrowed it down to Oh about 50+ or so.....Can I get a continent clue??? |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,Mr. Leadfinger's Gifted Santa Date: 29 Oct 04 - 12:29 PM My dear sir: It has come to our attention that you have not yet posted any hints as to what you might enjoy receiving for Christmas. Your Santa has asked me, Q. Marley Elvenson, to remind you in the nicest possible way that should we not receive some clue, however slight, we will be forced to take Certain Steps. Your Santa has further directed me to state, quite unequivocally, that should she or he not have received such clues no later than 12 o'clock midnight, GMT, Sunday, October 31, 2004, you will be "damned lucky to get anydamnedthing at all" (quotes Santa's). Thanking you for your prompt attention to this matter, I remain, Your obedient servant, Q. Marley Elvenson, QC, OBE, BRB |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Mudlark Date: 29 Oct 04 - 02:51 AM To the Master of Mysterioso Mondo Santas... Mudlark here, entrigued, enticed but unilluminated, despite having mulled and mumbled and ruminated. Your style is most charming, but content obscure-- For a Santa you are living up to your moniker, I fear. I did glean a whiff of a hint of a suggestion Though the way it was put did quite beg the question: Metoaphoically speaking we may see the same star? But in point of fact the package must travel quite far. If true, my stalling Is appalling. |
Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: GUEST,stillriversages verrrrry secret santa Date: 29 Oct 04 - 01:58 AM oh ye of little faith! I'm just sitting here in the workshop twiddling my thumbs while the elves work, and making sure you're behaving yourself it'd be nice if one of them would think to bring me a cup of tea every now and again - but I suppose you can't have everything so sit back and be patient - good things come to she who waits. |

Did you think Santa would forget you??? Where is your faith, girl? It's not even November yet! I'm currently looking into a live armadillo for you, complete with exercise wheel and fruit basket. Iin case that falls through, I have a couple of fall-back positions, but could use a little more info. What kind of knitting do you like to do, and what kind of beading: jewelry? purses?? wallhangings?? Glass beads (seed, trade, or)? Ethno clunky? Stone chip? Tho not a beader I am somewhat conversant with these items from a past life. Also let me know if you have thought of anything else your heart desires, always assuming you've been good? |

Subject: RE: BS: SECSY Silly Secret Santa/Santee Hints From: Firecat Date: 28 Oct 04 - 05:29 PM Hiya, Santa! "Witchlight" is Number 8, if that's any help! I know the last one of the series that was published over here was called "Strange Fate". I've got "Secret Vampire", "Daughters Of Darkness", "Enchantress" (might be called Spellcaster), "Dark Angel", "The Chosen" and "Soulmate". Those are the first 6. I'm fine with proper silver, it's the nickel I'm allergic to. Any autobiogs are great. I'm fascinated by them! And finally, yes, I did used to be a Goth, but I'm not a proper one any more, although I do still mostly wear black!! I'm even more excited now!! Hope those help! Loads of VERY HAPPY love and butterflies, Firecat!! xoxoxoxoxox |

I can see now that these threads are regarded as part and parcel of the S. Santa etiquette, so in the spirit of it, here is my hint for my Santa, in the form of a riddle: When I get in my Carr, I feel alienated. It's a mystery. Help me, Caleb!
