GASP!

I have a Secret Santa!

I've come over all wobbly! I must sit down. Oh. I am sitting down. I'm all a-flummoxed.

Just a minor point - no, I'm not a big fan of licorice but I do remember commenting about having a knitting pattern (or would that be recipe?) for knitting socks out of shoe-string licorice. I dooooooo like marzeeeeeeeeeeeeeepan, and almond stuff in general.

Oh Santa - I DO luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv you!

So happy for you sian. I do remember that you had a pattern/recipe for those licorice socks. And I had thought I'd invented them. Bet you don't have a pattern for marzeeeeeeeeeepan mittens though. Cheers, Joy

Ah ha!

Gets out her magnifying glass but can't quite read the postmark. . .

An envelope from across the pond! Printouts of places around my neck of the woods! (Did I mention that I used to teach map and compass skills in a Mountaineering course many years ago?) I'll have to put this away quickly--an engineer friend who loves this kind of game is coming over this afternoon to get some of my old software to revamp an old computer at his house. If he sees a navigation game it'll be all I can do to work it out myself before he gets out his GPS toys and gives it a try. (But I'll send them along to him when we finish, to recycle as you suggest).

What fun! Thanks you! Do I really want to find a cache labeled "paperclips in a urine bottle"? Hmmmm.

Aha, that was quick! There'll be extra Hot Chocolate with Brandy in it for the Elves this evening.

So glad you received your Pre-Christmas Game, and so wonderfully inexpensive too! Thought this may appeal to you, noticed the Park Ranger note while browsing your posts to see what would be good for you this Christmas. Like you, I'm unsure about that particular search, but it could be good for a practise run.

As a long-shot hint, I'm registered on that site with a version of my MudCat name, though I'm not sure how you could find me in there.....

Your 'real' gift is coming along well, although if you don't let me know your DVD format soon, you'll get 2 copies of home-video's, one in each format!

It's nice to hear that you've been good
And doing fine deeds, as you should
I must admit it greatly pleased me
Although I fear you only teased me
To be called 'poet', now that's grand
Your every wish is my command
A nifty box with Sarah's name
To fill it up with treats I aim
But if you misbehave, beware
I'll fill it up with books, I swear!

Still looking.........still looking......look stilling.......looking silly.......oh dear.......!

Well I asked the padre what he thought I should send you.........a charming man, but, I can't understand a word he says!
He said I should get you something that sounded like -
"Fair ta your honest sonsie face, great chieftain o the puddin race"
and said that he got his from a Rabbi Burnz - and I thought he was Episcopalian!
Oh well, as you have Scottish ancestry I daresay you have a couple of antique ones in the attic anyways.........
Dinner at Grebe tonight, maybe someone there will have a useful suggestion....

Dearest Secret Santa,

I have referred to the highest authority on this DVD zone question. Who else but Amazon would deal with such global information?

I think you need to configure for zone 1. That way I can watch your DVD here in Texas or take it with me when (if) ever I go to Bermuda. See this page for a breakdown of the zone information.

It's true that I
Am far up North
Or at least as far
As you are South.

But I am not
A Bill on High
Nor am I
A Bill down low.

Not a Bill of goods
Nor a Bill of fare.
Just a lonely Santa
For you down there.

A clue you'd like
Or something better?
One of your's is me
Just add a letter.

Many thanks for checking out the Guru of DVD's. I had a wander around & decided to check the manufacturer of the DVD recorder, found their N America site & found that the majority of players use DVD+R format. So that'll be it then, hope it works.....

Your gifts seem to have outgrown your parcel, so there will be a couple of small deliveries by FastFairy and one larger one by SlowGnome. Never fear, there has been budgeting in mind but hopefully they will prove enjoyable for all over Christmas.

External boxes etc. can be opened without incurring the Wrath of the Christmastide Gremlins. Items wrapped in paper of any sort are to go under the tree but don't forget that curiosity killed the Cat. There are unwrapped items (some are 'bubbled'), which may be checked out on receipt if you so wish.

Purple Dougals maybe. Or Dougals with a local twist, perhaps. More likely called "Dingles" rather than Dougals, in that case. Heh,heh! Private joke which you won't be made privy to until after Christmas!

No, no, it was just an idle threat. Or I could send you a different sort of Dougal

Hi Kris Kringle.

I am not a registered Catter so my other half is doing this for me.

So what can he tell you about me?

Age :- Old enough to know better but still young enough not to care!!

T shirt size:- medium

Interests:- Books (particularly Biographies), Travel and Traditional English Folksong (about to start to learn to play my late fathers mandolin)

I am an IT Support person working at a University (one of the two we have in our city) so by the time I get home I have seen enough of computers hence my non-registration.

I am 5'4" tall, medium build, red hair, fair skin.

Wishes from Secret Santa:- None as I dont know I am getting a SS present but my other half thinks I would like something that reflects you or your part of the world.

Hope this gives you enough info.

Lady Elizabeth ( her partner really!!)

night after night, I'm sitting here writing these little pomes, honing & polishing them until I finally have a masterpiece worthy of my santee

Pome for CapriUni

I prefer earth-toned jewelry
And yes I do revel in the charade of this elan
things are not always as they appear
Yes, but only backwards with the olives in my flan.

Desire is the root of all sorrow
Dulcimer! Away, gnat-like heavens! You mourn too plaintively!
Summer burns on, and their insanity grows.
For swearing souls, curse them and beat them lively

Curiouser & curiouser!

My Own Dear Secret Santa, I'm a little worried that all this fluffy Dougalness (with or without a twist) may be turning my head. It's taking me back to the surreality of my early years. And as for Dingles, well I'm still clueless! Bell-ringing, a location in Eire, the Magic Roundabout in Hemel Hempstead? Consider me boggled, I know not which way to turn....

GUEST, Lady Elizabeth (& Partner)

So sorry, but it appears you may have missed the boat - this Year's Secret Santa has already been organised a while back on other threads.

Secret Santa's are paired with their Santees fairly early as there are sometimes lengthy postal times between continents. It's also only done between registered Members as the organiser needs to send out Santee information via our MudCat Personal Messaging (PM) system.

I don't know if there's any chance of including you this year, but you'd need to Register as a Member first and then PM Liz the Squeak who is this year's gallant and lovely Organiser. If not this year, then maybe next - if you Register here you'll get to know us all better & enjoy the Member benefits anyway!

I am still hunting around for the perfect gifts, and, as I go, thinking out loud - well thinking here, in text on the screen.

I am just happy that my Dougal threats flushed you out of the underbrush to update your hints. (Did you like the last Dougal on offer? He's My Hero!)

In my surfing on the 'Net I did find these pink, fluffy slippers - Ugh!

I'll be back later with some more fact-based clues.

How very odd you must think this is, MGAS.

Liz The Squeak has made me Lady Elizabeth's Secret Santa in right and proper fashion, and I shall fulfill my obligations as such to the utmost. Perhaps even beyond the utmost. Perhaps to the utmost utmostest utmost possible. All of the reindeer agree, and they are prancing and dancing, waiting to take flight, to deliver a gift or gifts to her representative of the area in which I live and which will, both I and Mrs. Kringle hope, delight her when she is finished grepping and chmoding for the day.

Thank you, dear LtS, for this opportunity.

Or something like that.

Kriss Kringle:- my partner thanks you in advance - yours will be the the present that I know nothing about at the moment - my partner will have to explain everything when it arrives.
