OK - As some Mudcatters know, I just this night inhreited about 800 CDs from my husband's co-worker. he uplodaed all his music to dgital sources. i even managed to get some Folk Stuff!

So, I shall be more specific. I really, really, really want a tape or CD that has that song "Beatnik prevert don't talk that way to me" on it. I think Hildebrandt wrote it but I'm not sure. I read the thread with that as the title and formed an attachment to the mere idea of the song.

I would also dearly love anything by Alaska Mike.

As far as my musical tastes go - they are quite varied. I do not own any June Tabor CDs despite really loving her voice. I am partial to women with deep voices and male baritones. I say that even though I have a nearly complete collection of Emmylou harris CDs (she's a mezzo-Soprano).

I love close harmonies and sad fiddles.

Hope that helps.

Dear Secret Santa:

I know I'm late so I'll be brief. I would love anY CDs you care to send or make, especially if they feature Mudcatters.

After that, I enjoy:

Cooking
Gardening
Reading

I have a dog and some cats. My dog wears lots of bandanas. My cats just wear collars.

I'll post more later

Ah, cher Punkoid, my cheeks are red
I chastised you, but wrongly!
I found that in some OTHER thread
You'd spoken out quite strongly!
Of colors plum, and jewelry none,
And books of bold sea-sailors;
And suffering from allergies!
Your Santa will avail her-
Self of what you once have said,
Ignore my tweaks and bleating,
Such hints are quite enough for me,
And do not need repeating.
So Yuletide blessings on you, Sir
And on your loverly daughters
And there shall be a gift for you
From farthest Southern waters.
And by the Southern Cross 'twill steer
Around the planet hasting!
(And now, I must go pack it up;
'tis plain that time is wasting.)

The elves have been scurrying, impatient reindeer pressing their noses against the window, Santa cats underfoot, Mrs. Claus baking up a storm.

The weather signals are late this year, but I wanted to let you know I've been on the job. Busy, busy, busy -- but you are not forgotten.

Dainties are being accumulated, a box piled up. I don't know whether the cats are keeping things segregated and under control or if they've been making off with the odd bit and hiding it under the bed. Sigh.

Time, time, time. Everything happens at oncee.

Just wanted to send a reassuring signal that evrything is on track for you to receive some Christmas goodies from the North Woods.

Cher Punkoid, best of all Santees
I pray you pity take on me
With heaving breast and passioned glance
I beg you, come and join this dance,
My smile, my hair, my flirting eyes
Are all now offered in this wise --
To see you end this silent ruse
And offer to thy Santa, clues.
How can you, made of manly stuff
Resist my all-beguiling fluff?
I'll bat my lashes, curve my hips
And let a sweet smile cross my lips
If only once, you'll give more shrift
To Her Who Yearns to Give you Gifts!
Enough, this silence, wan and pale;
An answer! Or, I'll kick your tail!

Many thanks for your speedy reply Dear Santee! FastFairies off the hook, but now they can rest till next year.

Wrapping paper? Outer transit containers can be opened - there may be something in there you can enjoy now as was intended.

Glad you're looking forward to searching after the First Frost, not sure that we have Poison Ivy here, certainly never considered it. Mind you, our Nettles, Brambles & Mud are worth avoioding here, I only play that game in fair weather.

Mother of all thread? No, never attempted that one - it grew to giant size before I noticed it, so I guess you can cross all those involved off your Guess List.

Members List, yes, I'm in there like all good Santas should be - that helps with the clues. There are only a few threads below the line I check - this, the Christmas Tavern when it's open (met you there BTW, most kind) and a few others. Mostly occupied with festivals, clubs, songs & singers - but one of those parcels should point you in that direction. Think it's a FastFairy one, but may be that overweight SlowGnome one.

Goodness, see all these clues, you've plenty now - Good Luck!

P.S. You're supposed to guess now.

Sorry, dear, dearest, Secret Santa, I've been swamped and knew I'd have to reread the last couple of hundred posts to this thread before I posted. I can safely pre-date number6's gleeful announcement of receiving a package--I received 3, 2 of them in the week before Halloween! And a postcard (that was a terrific clue, by the way--I'm sure that there is only one Mudcatter who lives within 50 miles of London, right?)

I hesitated to mention it until after Halloween, not wanting to upset the trick-or-treat fun of so many of our dear kind Mudcat friends. Now the yule season is only a bit ahead of Thanksgiving (here in the U.S.) and if the weather will ever cool off it will actually FEEL like the holidays are approaching! And here at our house we already have a tidy little stack of packages next to the fireplace.

The best time of year to go out looking for these mapped cache locations is soon--once we have our first frost much of the greenery will vanish, and the poison ivy will drop it's noxious leaves, and the search will be a pleasant one. We're looking forward to it!

We peaked in the first package, and saw wrapping paper, so unless we learn otherwise, will leave the others in their covers and open them when we open the rest of our gifts.

Santa, give me another clue, please. Are you listed in any of the Mudcat photo or member lists? Do you spend more time above or below the line? Have you ever attempted to read the Mother of All BS thread? Or posted to it?

pppp? Procrastinating puzzling (or, puzzled) something or other? Or just very very pianissimo? Rumor has it that you've been chasing around the States, anyway. Santa's here! Honest! Scrounging around for fishy or car things--or maybe, fishy cars? Santa is less up on either of those things than he is on many other things--but Santa doesn't whine.   Anyway, I hope you're safely home from your wanderings, or else having a good old time and will be safely home eventually.
