Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Limpet's Loopy Elf` Date: 08 Dec 05 - 03:18 PM Dearest Limpet: Well, I'm sorry to report that I have some bad news. Your gifts are ready to go, but when the ART (Auxillary Reindeer Team) was training for the Reindeer Games, Hagelstein (Donner's Great-grandson), was being all macho, and showing off, and he pulled a leg muscle. The veternarian told him that he must stay off it until at least Monday. So your package may be a be a tiny bit late. We hope to get it to you by New Year's, though. Again, my sincere appologies. Perhaps you could think of it as a Christmas Encore? Yours, with fondest regards, L.E. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Jaze's Silent Secret Santa's photo archive Date: 07 Dec 05 - 07:30 PM Pictured above: The long Arctic winter has begun, and it is indeed a "long winter's night" at Santa's workshop at the North Pole, where he and his elves labor ever more frantically to stay on schedule for package delivery. Work was halted temporarily due to a massive power failure, when even the backup generators faltered; the disastrous moment is captured in this snapshot, intended by the photographer to be a close-up of Jaze's present. Eventually, it was discovered that the disruption was caused by hungry polar bears that had chewed through the insulation of above-ice cables, leaving the wiring susceptible to moisture and resultant short-circuiting. (These bears can be seen far in the background of the previous photo.) Once the bears had been placated with huge mounds of Christmas cookies, repairs were made quickly, and Santa's workshop is up and running once again. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Bat Goddess Date: 07 Dec 05 - 06:49 PM Hey, SS! You mean there's MORE?!? Last week or so (last week and this week were, uh, totally nutzoid) I received the WONDERFUL calendar of English traditional customs and dates -- and the bookmark with lovely seahorses (not exactly mythical hippocampuses, but they are very, very rare) -- in my colors, too! (Did you do the cross-stitch?) I really apologise for not acknowledging this sooner (and maybe leading to worry as to whether the postal elves were doing their share), but I haven't had a lot of Mudcat time. I really have been good -- just not communicative. Linn |

Oddly enough I have been drawn to various Buddha figures in shops in the last couple of weeks, and especially the ones just like the one in your postcard. Tricky Santa, I'm not much good at guessing games but I wonder if your clues point to longitude & latitude, i.e where Greenwich meridian meets the equator? No that's in the middle of the ocean near Africa. I give up! Helen |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Freda's Santa...Running Late Date: 06 Dec 05 - 09:54 AM well, your package is on its way - 8120 miles, or 13068 km, or 7056 nautical miles (whatever you prefer) as the sandhill crane flies. Of course, neither Santa's jackalopes nor any more mundane method necessarily goes in a straight line. Amazingly, in an unusual fit of governmental efficiency (or lies), it seems that the faster methods of mailing a package that distance are also the least expensive. Please do not open until the Solstice Holiday of your choice...or before you get it, if you are the impatient sort. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Limpet's Loopy Elf Date: 04 Dec 05 - 11:16 PM Hello, Dear Limpet! I know I haven't posted any new hints in a long time, but there have been some technical diffeculties here at Secret Santa Central that made posting rather diffecult. I hope, however, to get your package in the post to you before the week is out. In the meantime, I thought you'd like to see what Spethan, the Typo Gremlin looks like. He's the one agreed to help me wrap your pressies, and get them in the mail. If you click here, you can see a picture of him. As you can see, he has very long fingers, and an extra pinky on each hand. That extra pinky is his "pixie pinky" and it's a magic finger. He uses it to change letters in the words you type, and he can sometimes change things he touches, too. He assures me, however, that he will be very careful when wrapping your pressies, and where magic-proof gloves. I sure hope they're heavy-duty, because I wouldn't want you to get the wrong pressie! Keep your fingers crossed! Yours, with fond regards, L.E. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Micca's secret santa Date: 04 Dec 05 - 10:04 PM No, Micca, I didn't post way back when. I sent a PM to Liz to alert her to the situation. She assures me that this other person is not another "official" secret santa. So, it looks like you're a popular man and have two santas. Your pressie is due to arrive at your doorstep around the middle of December, if it hasn't already. It's from the USA. Your secret Santa. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,ShadyLady's Secretive (yet apologetic) Santa Date: 04 Dec 05 - 09:53 PM ShadyLady, I apologise profusely for having gone missing for so long; this time of year is the worst for becoming ill, especially if you have people expecting things of you... So long as you aren't offended by creatures of the feline persuasion, I think I know just what to send you. ;) Any last-minute suggestions would be helpful, however. It appears you're into the gothic style... is there any specific element or variety you prefer? >^@_@^< (ShadyLady's secretive and apologetically ill santa-type person) |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: SINSULL Date: 04 Dec 05 - 11:22 AM Dear Santa, Thank you for not allowing that idiot elf who was probably part of last year's conspiracy to send me a moth eaten moose head. The blow up one is trouble enough. For that, I will be a good girl and stop shaking the package, soaking it in water to see if it floats, etc. Only 21 more days to go. SINSULL, on her best behavior |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Sinsull's SS Date: 04 Dec 05 - 09:39 AM You're up and around bright and early this morning my helpful elf.
