Hopefully some of the amazing Getaway Energy made it up to the far north. Mike was not forgotten at Getaway, where at least three of his songs were sung that I know of during the weekend.

HELP!
Mike got a card from his SS. I didn't even think about SS with all that's happening. How do I find out who he has so I can tell him and we can get something going.
Mike is doing better but still has another week at least. It seems that he has an infection where guys don't want one. I left him a few minutes ago high on demerol and getting ready for sleep. He will have a minor surgery in the morning for this new infection.
He is still very weak, can walk tho, once around the nurse's station and he's exhausted.
His mind is back in the normal world now, thank goodness. He is actually getting some sleep, not much, but some.

Tawmmie, keep hydrated, fed, and get more sleep. Really. This is when you'll have time to crash and sleep; Mike's being watched over at the hospital so you can get your sleep. That big teddy bear's probably just having a bad dream. While I was comma-ed for 12 days the only dreams I remembered were real like nightmare's (not that Mike's having any, I've been told since that you're able to read the face if a nightmare's happening). I was getting a new (2nd) liver & dreaming that I was kidnapped by organ harvester's all the time thinking what a bunch of idiots to harvest organs from me, no problem outsmarting this gang. Well I was fighting for my life, come to find out later that I kicked one of my nurses during one of my many attempted escapes.
I'm not violent either.

Haven't had the time to monitor this thread as much as I'd've liked, but there's been a lot of prayers, healthy thoughts and white light being directed your way from the middle of the woods in New Hampshuh, too.

Tawmmie -- I'll add my 2 cents worth, too, on the necessity of taking care of yourself. It's going to take you awhile to recover from the stress level -- even after Mike is up and back to whatever passes for normal. (I'm not sure I know any normal people...)

The advice I usually give in these situations can be summed up in one word -- "peanut butter cheese crackers" (well, one thought, at least). Good to carry in the car for when you find yourself on the way home from the hospital and it occurs to you that you've forgotten to eat all day. Worrying about your darlin' and keeping the family's body & soul together takes its toll.

Now that Mike's on the mend, we certainly don't need you getting sick.

My late FIL spent 28 days in the hospital and during the last couple weeks he only wanted OUT!! NOW!! He became uncooperative at times because of this -- and an NG tube, an IV into his neck, and other things were, to say the least, uncomfortable.

Maybe Mike isn't hallucinating -- maybe he's extremely uncomfortable, not quite in touch yet, and feels like a he's been captured.

Hey Tawmmie.....On one of my journeys through the various fields of medical problems, I had an aortic aneurysm of a type called an aortic dissection (what killed John Ritter---only difference was that mine ended 3 inches from the heart and his didn't). I went downhill quickly after entering the hospital and as a pain killer during diagnosis was given "Versed," the drug of choice nowadays. Turns out I am allergic to it and became combative and exceedingly violent. This was a rare reaction. The main vascular Doc came out and was obviously fearful asking my wife if I was a violent man. Karen was dumbfounded...like Mike, I'm a big Teddy Bear...but something triggered the reaction. Months later when I went to see that Doc at his office, he kept his distance as if he still wasn't sure about me.

POINT IS----Many times the combinations of drugs used in serious cases or sometimes even just one drug during a specific time period can cause some strange problems. I'm sure they are looking at him carefully and keeping the good vitals but don't be afraid to ask them what they think is causing the abnormal reactions. It's easy to feel such gratitude to those working with Mike and saving his life that you hate to bother them or make them feel you don't trust them. But don't be afraid to ask when things aren't quite right. I have loved most of my Docs but they too are simply human......and the best ones never feel that "M.D." stands for Major Deity.

Whoa, as Seamus said he is not 100%. Physically he is healing but mentally he seems to be having problems. As I gather, this is common, but it sure is disconcerting. Now he is in a dungeon being held captive by the lady who runs the hospital. Until I got there tonight after the Bill Stains concert, he would not allow the nurses to touch him, much less take a blood sample, or blood pressure. They all seemed scared of him. What, my big teddy bear?
I'm doing fine now, thank you everyone for your thoughts.
