Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Girl Friday without cookie Date: 19 Nov 05 - 02:02 PM Thanks guys. Have copied your comments on to the review from the fab club that I downloaded to show Trev. Glad Richard appreciates the t shirt! Tried to auction one for children in need - best offer a quid from Gerda to wear when gardening! Needless to say I withdrew the lot. We made £197.31 on the night. Tone Deaf Leopard review |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Gwenzilla Date: 17 Nov 05 - 02:39 PM Yes; seeing Tone Deaf Leopard is always an experience. With a reasonably long background in the filk community, their sound probably seems more familiar to me than it might to most of you kind folks, so I hesitate to use the word "groundbreaking" to describe the performances I have seen I'm sure they broke -something-, though.... :-) |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Deckman Date: 17 Nov 05 - 10:48 AM OOOOOOPS! My appolgies. I thought that the word "TONE" was added to the other bands name as a joke. See what a tiny bit of knowledge will get me ... nuthing but trouble! CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Dipsodeb Date: 17 Nov 05 - 05:46 AM Hear Hear! ;-) |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Kenneth Ingham Date: 17 Nov 05 - 05:10 AM They were terrific at the tudor barn last night. It's about time that they went into the studio and started work on an album. It's not fair that us fans have to wait a whole week to maybe hear 2 or 3 songs. With a CD every day could be a Tone Deaf Day! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,The Barden of England Date: 17 Nov 05 - 04:20 AM What a bunch of - - - errr, errr - I mean what a wonderful band. Their rendition of 'Down at the Road Kill Cafe' has got to be the folk hit of the year. It's put Market Harborough on the map I can tell you, unless of course it was that passing pigeon that put something on the map. Glam Folk rools - OK! John B |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Richard Bridge Date: 16 Nov 05 - 06:43 PM The tee-shirts are good! The band did it again at the Good Intent last night. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Joe Bann Date: 16 Nov 05 - 12:53 PM Wow! What a mind blowing experience! Was at the FAB club at Orsett last Sunday. Half of the Kent folk scene were there. All the performers had their photos taken. I had heard a whisper that the wonderful Tone Deaf Leopard would be there so I had to go. At risk of upsetting the other performers, I must congratulate the Leps on another earth shatteringly good performance. Wonder if there are any photos on the web, someone said there was on the Fab Club site. Also heard there are t-shirts now, put me down for one please Leps! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 16 Nov 05 - 12:43 PM Hello Deckman. Think we have lost our band ? We are not, nor have we been anything remotely to do with that other lot. We are "Tone Deaf Leopard" from Kent, England. to the rest of you lot out there, watch out, we are now infamous in three counties ! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Deckman Date: 06 Nov 05 - 04:16 AM I'm so sorry that you've lost your band and you don't know where to find them! If it helps you, "Def Leppard" is doing a very large venue in my hometown in two more nights: Everett, Washington (state), USA, in the Northwest corner of the country. Looking at the ad, they appear to be five people (s). Not being a fan of heavy metal, as they are advertised, I can't tell you much more. CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson ((I'm in the yellow house, second from the corner)) |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Joe Bann Date: 05 Nov 05 - 09:44 PM Been looking fora thread like this for months ! You must mean that brill duo TONE DEAF LEOPARD !!! I have been to all their gigs and - sorry cockney....i am their number one fan. Understand they have tee shirts now. Rumour has it that they will soon have a website too. You missed a blinding night at Dartford Folk Club. They were ably supported by a band from Up North somewhere. They must be on near you soon. Look out for them anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Orpington! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 18 Aug 05 - 12:40 PM Was it just us, or was anyone else stopped from busking at Broadstairs ? While I was away at the craft fair a jobsworth from Thanet Council told Trev he couldn't use council property [ was it the prom or the hard wooden bench ?] for busking without a licence. We had a regulation black and yellow collecting bucket too. What a performance ! We had to get a photocard thingy and dangle it from Trev's person. Thanks to our friend in the campsite festival office for helping us out. Incidentally , if every itinerate , tinless folkie who played music on the seafront actually busked, the festival would make more money for next time ! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Rihcard Bridge Date: 16 Aug 05 - 07:24 PM Next appearance, to mass appeal, at the SHip Lower Stoke Near ROchester Kent this Saturday the 20th |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: mumblin len Date: 16 Aug 05 - 02:37 PM It was gratifying to read something complimentary about us at last [from guest - 15/8]. Not sure who you are but keep taking the tablets - we will! We thoroughly enjoyed Broadstairs, but weren't sure whether they were really ready for "Glam Folk" yet - maybe next year eh! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST Date: 15 Aug 05 - 10:28 AM Cool band I saw them at Broadstairs last week. It's good to find a gem amongst all those old fogeies. |

Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: The Barden of England Date: 08 Aug 05 - 12:22 PM Saw that earlier in this thread they were compared to Herman and the Hermits. I would have said Wallace and the Grommets seems so much more appropriate! Be afraid - be very afraid. John B |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Essex Girl Date: 08 Aug 05 - 09:27 AM Borstal's the right place for them Sue!!!! Enjoy Broadstairs. See you soon Linda. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 08 Aug 05 - 09:11 AM Tone Deaf Leopard are busy writing songs and performing them at both Orpington Folk Clubs , Tudor Barn, Lower Stoat, Borstal, and Broadstairs. They will play anywhere at any time and are quality stuff. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: mumblin len Date: 11 Jul 05 - 10:16 AM Thanks To all for the support - the truss was particularly useful after the howling i did at byfleet - anyone know where i can get some leopardskin spandex? Girl Friday says she loves playing drums.Much better than chocolate. We have made a tape but it has not been mastered - like our music. |

Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: mindblaster Date: 08 Jul 05 - 07:12 PM Actually I read about this band in Music Maker magazine. It seems they are well respected amongst the english glam folk community. |

Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: woodsie Date: 08 Jul 05 - 06:52 PM They were supporting Felicity Greenland Tonight at The Friday Folk Club in Orpington - Blew 'em away man!!! |

Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Ghettoblaster Date: 08 Jul 05 - 09:28 AM Herman's Hermits....wasn't one of their songs "Must to Avoid"? |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Sliding Down The Bannister At My Auntie's House Date: 08 Jul 05 - 07:34 AM I must agree with you mindblaster, this is probably the finest band to come out of the UK since Herman & The Hermits. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: mindblaster Date: 08 Jul 05 - 01:57 AM This is folk music at its best. Music for the people, by the people. Raw rock 'n folk. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: woodsie Date: 07 Jul 05 - 07:00 PM Where were they tonight? |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: woodsie Date: 07 Jul 05 - 07:12 AM They were at the FolkMob at The Tudor Barn last night. Trevor has a lovely leopard skin stratocaster!! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,gUEST Date: 03 Jul 05 - 02:41 PM They also occasionally comprise various offspring of Trevor's. Oddly, since they are not related to her, they seem to share Sue's sense of timing. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Essex Girl Date: 03 Jul 05 - 01:32 PM They consist of Sue Tuckey (Mudcatter Girl Friday) the organiser of the Orpington Friday Club and her boyfriend Trevor. They were both at our BBQ on Sunday. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: woodsie Date: 03 Jul 05 - 01:25 PM They are a bunch of nutters alright! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Jacob Date: 02 Jul 05 - 05:32 AM saw them once in Orpington - it was a mind blowing experience |

Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Uncle DaveO Date: 30 Jun 05 - 07:28 PM This reminds me of a conversation I had with my daughter Monika, when she was maybe 12, as we drove in my car. She wanted to listen to her favorite station, so I indulged her, and here was what I thought was an awful caterwauling. I said, "Who's that?" She said, "Dad, that's Def Leppard." I said, "Well, that explains the noise: He's deaf!" Monika: "Daa-aad, it's D-E-F!" Me: "Oh! So he can't SPELL, either!" Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST Date: 30 Jun 05 - 05:14 PM Never was a band so aptly named! We await their next folk up, perhaps a re-versioning of the Chris Farlowe recording of "Out of time". |
Subject: Tone Def Leppard From: cockney Date: 30 Jun 05 - 04:54 AM Has anybody got any information on a band called "Tone Def Leppard" Have they recorded any albums? aAre they touring in the south east? They do a cracking folky version of "Born To Be Wild" I asked at my local virgin megastore and the assistant there checked the computer and back catalogue, but could find no reference. |
