Subject: RE: San Francisco's Camp Harmony 2018-19 From: GUEST,Dinah and Noah Stroe Date: 15 Oct 18 - 01:54 AM We would like to lead an Oldtime Jam and we will call it Andronico’s Jam after the OT session we’ve been leading for 5 years Odd Tuesday’s 7-9:30 at Andronico’s Market in the Sunset District of San Francisco. We’ve raised close to $8,000 for the SF Food Bank just by collecting donations from folks passing by. Hi, Dinah & Noah - I put you at 1:30-2:30 Saturday in Muir, the hour before the John Barleycorn Workshop. Hope that's good. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: San Francisco's Camp Harmony 2018-19 From: GUEST,Ralph Williams Date: 13 Oct 18 - 05:23 PM Interfaith Devotional Singing I would like to lead a workshop that involves singing interfaith devotional songs with the themes of universal love, and universal spirituality. All the songs that I know are very simple and sung in English. Day by Day from Godspell would be an excellent example. There is no need for a songbook or handouts. People are welcome to bring their own devotional songs too. If you bring songs to the gathering, my request is that the lyrics be less than two "sentences" long, easy to learn, and have an open all-encompassing inclusive spiritual theme. I have a preference to doing this before noon and on Sunday but the day is not nearly as important doing it before noon. Two hours if possible but one hour is OK too. Thanks, Ralph Hi, Ralph- I'm thinking two hours is too long, and I thought maybe you could split the same venue with Gospel for Sunday morning. I'll leave that to you to decide. I set aside the kitchen for you from 9:45-noon Sunday. Hi Joe, What if we call the chant workshop, Personal, Planetary and Spiritual Chants. Is that too many words? Ralph |
Subject: RE: San Francisco's Camp Harmony 2018-19 From: GUEST,Marlene Date: 12 Oct 18 - 01:38 AM Hi Joe: Friday afternoon, I'd like to do Sad Songs in a sort of largish room. (because this is usually pretty popular) Sunday afternoon, I'd like to do Songs about Money, Wealth & Poverty. Can probably be in a smaller room if needed. A bit hard to say exact times without seeing a grid and without knowing the meal schedule, and without seeing the other events, but put me where and when you think best, and after the grid is up, I'll let you know if I need it changed.
If possible, I would like to attend Songs Faith Petric Sang and Sadie's Family Values. P.S. I support the committee's name change decision. Website says "New" all over the place, though. I realize it's just been two days since the meeting!
Marlene Hi, Marlene - Sad songs Friday 5:15 PM, Buckeye Money, Wealth & Poverty Sunday 4-5 PM, Carson |
Subject: RE: San Francisco's Camp Harmony 2018-19 From: Joe Offer Date: 09 Oct 18 - 08:21 PM Hi, Everybody - We had a camp committee meeting last night, along with a delicious vegetarian meal and Joe's famous store-bought pie (but it's good). My wife will be so proud of me that I ate vegetarian. We've decided to call the camp, Camp Harmony, since we are not at Camp Newman anymore, at least until they rebuild after last year's fire. The long-awaited decision has been made: the Famous Triple Crown will be on the afternoon of Saturday, December 29 - John Barleycorn Workshop, Pub Songs, and Sea Chanteys. We will follow more-or-less the same workshop schedule we had last year at Monte Toyon, with 1-hour workshops and a 15-minute break between workshops. There will probably be no workshops during lunchtime. Early Bird registration for camp ends at NOON on October 19, so you'd better hurry to sign up if you want the discount. This year, the final registration deadline is NOON on November 22, because Walker Creek wants earlier notice about the number of campers we have each day. There's lots of room for everyone, but only if you sign up on time. See you at camp. -Joe- Camp Harmony signups: http://sffmc.org/ Shabbat-sunset is at 4:59 PM Dec 28 in Marin, so I set aside 5-6:15 PM in Carson |

Subject: RE: San Francisco's Camp New Harmony 2018-19 From: Joe Offer Date: 20 Sep 18 - 01:52 PM I dunno, Jennifer, since I'm not a songwriter. It could be an interesting twist on our very popular songwriting workshops. You're certainly welcome to try just about anything. Just give a workshop name (four words or fewer), day, and approximate time of day. Why not give it a try? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: San Francisco's Camp New Harmony 2018-19 From: GUEST,Jennifer Kreger Date: 20 Sep 18 - 01:46 PM Hi All! this is an inquiry not a proposal, because I honestly don't know if it would be useful or not. Would you like there to be a workshop where songwriters who do not perform (or who have written songs that use a different vocal range from their own) get together with performers who are looking for new material, and see if there are matches? or are you satisfied with how folks currently offer, swap and cover? |

Subject: Camp Harmony 2018-19:Workshop Signup From: Joe Offer Date: 29 May 18 - 04:22 PM Camp Arrival time 2 PM Thursday, Dec 27. Please do not arrive early. Google Maps says it takes 33 minutes to drive from Novato to the camp - it's a beautiful drive, so drive slow and enjoy it. The closest store is 20 minutes away, so get all your supplies before you arrive at camp. There is no cell phone reception at camp, but Internet does work by WiFi.Camp Harmony is new again! We are enthusiastic to have secured Walker Creek Ranch for our New Year’s camp from Thursday, December 27 to Tuesday, January 1. Attendees may come for all or part. We welcome newcomers, and if you will be a first-time attendee, please feel free to email or phone with your questions. Camp registration ended November 22. If you didn't sign up in time, we hope you can make it next year. The venue: Walker Creek Ranch, in rural Marin County, is known to some in our community as a great retreat spot for other musical gatherings. Its level site nestled into surrounding hills features accessible buildings clustered for convenience. Facilities include a central dining hall and other spacious halls suitable for dancing, concerts, and large group activities. There are numerous rooms for workshops, Arts & Crafts, and lots of smaller spaces for jamming. The property offers walking trails and a scenic bridge over the Creek. There’s even a natural history museum for learning about local flora and fauna.
Housing: Walker Creek offers a range of housing options, and because Walker Creek charges different rates for these options, our fees are rated accordingly. This location is remote from any off-site lodging. The registration form provides space to explain any accessibility needs. Workshop spaces will be available for signups Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Sessions are usually one hour, but feel free to sign up for a two-hour session if you have good reason. Post your workshops below in this thread. Give your name, name of the workshop (four words or fewer, please), an explanation of what the workshop is about, and the day you want to have your workshop. Camp begins Thursday evening, December 27; and ends Tuesday Morning, January 1. Again, a link to the new venue, Walker Creek Ranch, owned and operated by the Marin County Office of Education. It's a half-hour drive from any town, so be sure to bring everything you need to camp.
-Joe- per email from Bev Praver First request is for a workshop to remember Jerry Praver. Also, a 2-hour parodies workshop. I'm going to put the Jerry Praver memorial late in camp- Monday 4-6:15 pm, in the museum, parodies Friday 1:30-3:45 in Buckeye. From Patience: While awaiting feedback from others, this looks likely as our lineup of seven official Workshop spaces:
