Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: olddude Date: 15 Sep 11 - 05:10 PM Very true LH and Gnu you are so right, but I was gonna catch him and throw him in the big pound before the freeze .. Oh well ... crows gotta live to. A few years ago one of the coyotes was in the back yard by the fence. I always let the wiener dogs out with Gus my 130 lb lab newfie like critter. His fur was up and showing his teeth .. He get really protective about the wiener dogs ... good thing, they would make a tasty treat to a coyote ...even with the fence they may find a way to eat one of them |
Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: Little Hawk Date: 15 Sep 11 - 04:58 PM Sorry to hear about the untimely loss of your frog, Dan. This may cheer you up a bit: Frog makes formal complaint. It could've been worse. A bear or a coyote could've taken one of your Dachshunds! (this has been known to happen) |
Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: gnu Date: 15 Sep 11 - 04:39 PM Dan... yer pond got a natural mud bottom? Didn't think so on accounta you said it was plastic. So, the crow did yer frog a favour on accounta frogs don't freeze too well near as I understand. Hoppin back to the nearest spot to winter mighta been pretty rough fer Kermit come cold weather. Better to get it over with quick like. I mean, look at the bright side eh? |

Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: olddude Date: 15 Sep 11 - 04:31 PM Naw Jim, He was a gift from nature. Just showed up one day and decided this was his fountain. All summer he ate bugs ... till the crow ate him |
Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: Jim Dixon Date: 15 Sep 11 - 04:28 PM I have a neighbor who has an ornamental fishpond in his backyard--landscapers call it a "water feature" nowadays. Well, a great blue heron came and ate all his goldfish! Just be thankful you didn't pay good money for the frog. (You didn't, did you?) |
Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: Gurney Date: 15 Sep 11 - 03:49 PM There's a clip on 'Funniest Videos' where children are getting to know a white rat(?) when something takes it. It happens so suddenly that I couldn't see if the rodent WAS a rat, and the predator was so fast it had to be a falcon. A blur is all you see. A kingfisher (bird) took all 'my' little skinks last year. I'm building them a rockery this year. (The (bird) because I think there's a mustelidae called a kingfisher.) |

Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: olddude Date: 15 Sep 11 - 02:49 PM I meant no luck |
Subject: RE: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: olddude Date: 15 Sep 11 - 02:49 PM I can't figure out where he ever came from. The nearest pond is about a quarter mile up in the vineyard ... He leaped when he saw the crow but the thing got him mid air ... I go luck with wildlife anymore, first my raccoon now my frog |
Subject: BS: Ate my Frog ... From: olddude Date: 15 Sep 11 - 02:43 PM I had a nice frog living in my genuine plastic fountain in my yard. I even floated a piece of wood for him to sit on and put a plastic turtle on it .. dang thing was happy and would just sit there froggin. I was on my porch and a crow swooped down ... ate my frog .. crap !!! where is my shotgun .. anyone gotta another? |
