Subject: BS: Mudcat - how did you get here? From: freda underhill Date: 11 Sep 04 - 06:58 AM Ebbie suggested the idea for this thread in the Exceptional People thread. (who introduced you to Mudcat?) Sandra in Sydney and jenny kept talking about mudcat over a period of time. I looked in here and there but didnt really get it. then jennyo came over one day in December and gave me a mudcat lesson (thanks jen). Mudcat has been good for me - i work for the government in quite a controlled workplace, and have to be diplomatic with the clients i work with. as part of my job I'm discouraged from commenting in public on any political issue, and have to maintain a low profile. mudcat has given me the freedom of being able to comment (under my pseudonym freda) and so has helped reinforce who i really am, as opposed to who i am at work. mudcat is a forum for the old storytelling and discussion that used to happen around the campfire. I have lived in the Newtown area (sydney) for 20 years or so. Up the road in King st there used to be an illegal gambling joint. All the old Greek men used to sit outside having coffee, smoking cigarettes, and talking and arguing in the sun. mudcat is like a cyber version of that - a wealth of information, and the great experience of talking, debating with people around the planet. who introduced you to mudcat, or did you just stumble across it through the web? freda |
