I haven't seen Tom since 1976 at the Enterprise in Haverstock Hill.

He was learning the fiddle then as I recall, even so there was only slight heckling.

Hope the Enterprise and especially Marine Ices are still there!

he stayed at my house and we jammed!!

I wish he was performing somewhere close to me. I saw him on a youtube video yesterday. He still got it for sure. The guy can play anything and is amazing from what I can see

As far as I can tell, the song is not in the New Lost City Ramblers Songbook. It is on the 1958 self-titled album by the New Lost City Ramblers.

Here are the lyrics from the album notes:

He recorded it originally with The New Lost City Ramblers on their first album playing the banjo in the style of Uncle Dave Macon who recorded the 78 he learned it from. Back then he played banjo, guitar and dobro-the fiddle is a relatively recent addition to his arsenal.

Olddude-
It might have been included in "The New Lost City Ramblers Songbook" published by Oak Publications back in the 1960s sometime.

Also google Uncle Dave Macon and see what you can find. I replaced my LPs and tapes with the two JSP boxed sets that contain all of his commercially recorded works, so I forget which of the individual albums scattered around on County, Folkways, MCA/Decca and the like that it was on. Another boxed set was put out in Germany on the Bear Family label. The Macon version was anthologized on LP on "Smoky Mountain Ballads" (RCA Vintage LPV 507) which was later condensed a bit onto a Camden/Pickwick cheapie LP (ACL 7022). It was also included on LP on "Nashville-The Early String Bands Vol.1" (County 541) which, I believe is available as a CD, so you might google County Records.

guitar, and he plays guitar, banjo, fiddle and just about every other thing . And railroading and gambling was a song in 1956 i believe it was 56 or there abouts with the new lost city ramblers
