It happens that Boise had a notorious gay witch hunt in 1955. John Gerassi wrote a book about it in 1965, which is still in print:

It got to the point where any all-male gathering, even a poker game, was suspect.

I don't know anything about gay life in Boise, but I can tell you that the last time I was there I went to a hetero "strip club" where the dancers weren't even allowed to remove their tops. I figure that if the powers that be in Boise are that scared of women's breasts, they'd probably really get flipped out by an openly active gay scene like in SF, NO or Atlanta.

Key to understanding God's purported wrath in this instance is knowing that Rev. Thor Johnthon thinks Boise is located in flood-prone Iowa, not high-and-dry Idaho.

How'd his johnthon get tho thor, anyway? He must have been distracting himself when he should have been studying geography...

The flood of Angelina Jolie-related emails continues unabated, but they are bringing in new variations on the theme. Now Brad Pitt is supposedly suing someone for releasing all those nude videos and photos of Angelina, and Angelina is leaving Brad!!!

I'm glad I didn't receive that email. It would have been very difficult for me not to risk viral infection by taking a peek at the content.

My adopted hometown of New Orleans is pretty much on the opposite end of the gay-enough-ness spectrum from Boise. (Along with San Francisco, of course.) If anything, we might be just a little bit too gay. Perhaps some kind of cultural exchange could be worked out.

By the way, I've been in Boise. I think Boise does hit pretty low on the "gay" meter...as American cities go...but whether Boise is not gay enough is something I am simply not qualified to make a judgement on. ;-)

I've see some pretty odd messages used to get people's attention, but that has to be the strangest one yet.
