Subject: RE: BS: Ramsay v Grimshaw - WTF? (Australia) From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 09 Jun 09 - 10:15 PM "A Current Affair" is a commercial TV show that apparently takes a commcercial position on some stories (ie. headline stuff) I've been trying to find intelligent comment on this stoush & have found 58,500 articles on a search for "ramsay and grimshaw june 2009" from assorted media & TV sites & blogs, in Indonesia, Canada, UK & US & lotsa' other places! but nuffin' useful so far. Back to the search. Still no luck on page 13, so I've passed the search to a friend who might know a source. I get most of my news from National (non-commercial) radio & a quick squizz at it's website, + an even quicker squizz at the Sydney Morning Herald (reputable broadsheet.) I've recently started buying the Herald each day as I find reading on-line a pain, especially as not all is stories are available on it's public site. sandra (who does not have a TV & has never seen the show in question) |

Subject: RE: BS: Ramsay v Grimshaw - WTF? (Australia) From: George Papavgeris Date: 09 Jun 09 - 08:22 PM Good point, WYSIWYG. It looks like there's two sides to the story in this case, and trying to make head or tails through the various articles is not easy. |

Subject: RE: BS: Ramsay v Grimshaw - WTF? (Australia) From: wysiwyg Date: 09 Jun 09 - 04:53 PM Do these TV so-called personalities think that they are immune from criticism, or above the need to display common decency and common sense? Maybe not, but it's surprising how many of them have the cheek to think they are actually just as entitled to an opinion as anybody else on the planet, and they are often surprised how widely a comment goes and how badly it is taken once amplified in that kind of way. Public life isn't always all it's cracked up to be. Vilification, justified or not, is always only one yellow tabloid away. ~S~ |

Bloggers take both sides. Subject: RE: BS: Ramsay v Grimshaw - WTF? (Australia) From: George Papavgeris Date: 09 Jun 09 - 10:35 AM Here is a BBC report about the Australian PM's reaction. Do these TV so-called personalities think that they are immune from criticism, or above the need to display common decency and common sense? Are their brains addled by the adulation bestowed upon them by the masses and the fees that their agents negotiate for them? This is not about political correctness, indeed I oftain rail against the extremes of the latter. It is only about being bad mannered, and thinking oneself above the rest. I find this guy's behaviour offensive and embarassing (as I happen to pay part of his fee through my TV licence). |

Subject: BS: Ramsay v Grimshaw - WTF? (Australia) From: George Papavgeris Date: 09 Jun 09 - 09:34 AM I just caught some snippets in the news over the internet. It appears that Gordon R Soul Ramsay, the soft-spoken and introverted British culinary preparation expert has been letting fly some uncalled-for remarks about Tracy Grimshaw over the weekend, and Tracy finally had enough and nailed him in his pram. Can some Ozcatters shed any more light on this? |
