Subject: RE: Mary DesRosiers - house has burned From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 04 Dec 10 - 03:04 PM Oh, man, I meant to post this and didn't get to it yet. Thanks so much, Becky! Yes, everything is gone- there's a tiny pile with a charred autoharp, one silverplate coffee pot, and a few broken mugs. That's all that's left. Where the house was is a black spot on the ground. I am privileged to be part of the group that is spearheading efforts to help Mary. I am collecting cds by/from musicians who know and love her- she lost everything, and at the moment doesn't even have a cd player. If you would like to contribute a cd, please PM me. A benefit concert is being considered for the near future. Stay tuned, and again, PM me if interested! Mary's kids are with her now. She is moving (for the winter) to a cozy cottage by a lake just a mile or so from where her house was (there is a cd player in the house; I checked with the owners!). The local community has really come together to support Mary and her family- she will be well cared for this winter! If you would like to contribute money, there is a fund here: Community Church of Harriville/Chesham Canal Street, Harrisville, NH 03450 Please indicate designation to Mary DesRosiers And there's a Facebook group with some info here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mary-DesRosiers-Rising-from-the-Ashes/175284202501731 I was at the house site today delivering a meal, and spoke with her son Conor. He says they are holding it together, and they're doing ok, and really grateful for all the love and support. Want to know anything that isn't posted here? PM me! |

Subject: RE: Mary DesRosiers - house has burned From: maeve Date: 03 Dec 10 - 08:25 PM Mary has been a vital member of the music and dance in New England for years. I well remember conversations we've had over the years, and enjoyed knowing her at the Nelson Town Hall dances and The Folkway Restaurant and Coffeehouse in Peterborough, NH. She will have had an amazing music collection. As kat said, just short of a year from the fire that took our home, my husband and I have more than an inkling of what she is going through. The cds and cassettes and LPs our friends (known and unknown) have sent to us this year gave immense comfort and hope. We'll certainly find some special music to send to Mary and we'll be sure to enclose some handwritten notes. Maeve and Truelove |

Knowing what Night Owl and maeve both have been through losing their homes and everything in them, my heart goes out to her and her family. |
