Correction:

In the previous post, I wrote: "That way, you can listened to the politician lie in his/her own words!!!!

It should read, "That way, you can listened to the politician lie in his/her own speech-writer's words!!!!"

Theater!!

I'm still laughing.
I guess what is needed, it to pay LESS attention to the commentaries, and the spin by the media, and more on the actual 'texts'. I've watched 'news shows, where the 'reporter' cuts off an actual speech....and goes into his commentary about the speech.
I'd just, as soon turn to another channel, to hear the speech, while the reporter's, and the pundits, can shut the fuck up!
That way, you can listened to the politician lie in his/her own words!!!!

Hey! I heard the newspeople use that to refer to some GOP garbage that came out in anticipation of his speech...kinda like premature ejaculation, ya know? I'se just using current popular vernacular ala all those gems we got during the shrub's era.*bg*

Of course, I probably should have said, Springsteen was psychic and "picked up" on what President Obama was going to say.LOL

Now what is that? Spin for Obama ripping off a line...co-opting the liberal musicians, AGAIN???

Jeez!...Pre-Quoted!
LOL!

I see Bruce Springsteen has "pre-quoted" President Obama in a song from a newly released album: We Take Care of Our Own.

Found a link to it at Rebuild the Dream.

The bits I have heard sounded very good - finally standing up to the plutocrats, and the Republican screams indicate that it hurt them. It also seemed to provide foundations for biting attacks on either of Romney or Gingrich. Nice to see.

And at much the same time the French left appears to have grown a pair large enough to threaten Sarkozy (even though Sarkozy almost appeals to me for the way he drubs Scameron every time the two go head to head).

Obama Keynesian reflation (even strangled by the malevolent Repubs in the Senate) has given the US a much better bounce-back, economically, than the UK, where Osbornomics has clearly given us a double-dip which even the chief economist of the IMF suggests is aggravated by excessive austerity.

Maybe 2012 will see the rise of the left and the fettering or better dismantling of plutocracy - trends present in the UK from time to time since about 1700 that Scameron tries to airbrush out of history - trends endorsed by some of the more admirable figures from the political history of the US.

The people's flag is deepest red.

Interesting how our international repute improves when we choose only intelligent, needed missions and do them well. Obama strikes me as a more trustowrthy C-inC than Bush. I still have some serious reservations about several of his decisions, but I am not sitting between rocks and hard places the way he is, so I reserve judgement.

I wonder... will the new laws re the internet stop a French site fron airing the movie "gasland". Bit of thread drift, but a valid question, in a way, maybe?

9... damn straight! I know this is PI but I hope they offed a bunch of those fuckers in the process. (Given what little I know about their plight personally.)

Oversight, gnu, oversight.

Of course that's why the Republicans don't want regulatory agencies. They want business and industry to be able to f---k* the whole country whenever they find it profitable to do so.

Don Firth

*By the way, that's "frack." In addition to what you thought I said.

Maybe enough Americans are peed off to the point of doing that, and maybe once again the House that belongs to the people will be returned to them once again.

Would that it were so, Bruce, but the majority of the Boobocracy blunders and lumbers on in a fact-free environment, dedicated to the proposition that myth & belief trumps reality..

Do yourself a favor, and don't bet a lotta money on it.

Agreed. People must turn to electing independents wherever they can, because voting in either the Democrats or the Republicans is just going to perpetuate a grossly undemocratic and fraudulent form of government and maintain the corrupt status quo in Washington.

http://www.electionprojection.com/index.php

Of immediate interest are the Senate and House numbers. I think the Senate won't change much. IMO, the only place in the electoral process to effect substantial change is in the House. My notion of substantial is a House where seats up for election are filled by people who have no affiliation with either the Democrats or the Republicans, and the likelihood of that ain't too high. Electing non-affiliated people to the House of Representatives would provide some balance to what has begun to become a wretched display of arrogance based too often on greed. Maybe enough Americans are peed off to the point of doing that, and maybe once again the House that belongs to the people will be returned to them once again.

"I thought it was a great speech. I just don't understand where the money would come from for all the programs he wants to fund."

You heard a different speech from me. Every specific thing I heard him suggest came with a specific way to pay. "take the money we save not fighting in Iraq, use half for education. Use the rest to pay down the debt." that sort of thing. Surtax on the rich. End the Bush tax cuts on the wealthy. make all wealthy pay 30% tax. Tax corporations that export jobs to subsidize those who create jobs, etc. etc.

There was plenty of new money. If he and the Dems in Senate and House win in a landslide.

And yes, Obama always gives good speech. This was a campaign speech, and measured as such, a good one. The Repubs should be worried.

He said (and I paraphrase) "let's take the money we save not being at war". Throw in cuts to the Pentagon budget for all the toys they don't even want -- as the man said, "A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money."

LOL, biLL, nice way of getting your point across. Was that accordionist the Myron guy from Lawrence Welk? Sure looked like him.

We watched it on youtube with "enhancements" which consisted of quotes, graphs, and other info which had to do with what he was saying throughout. It was kind of neat except they had a streaming problem. I finally turned on the tv to catch the bits that were lost while youtube caught up.

We both thought it was a very good speech and I was esp. surprised at how much applause there was before he spoke, during, and after..I take that to be a good sign.:-)

Too bad Daniels missed it. Obviously his "response" was pre-written and the usual Same Old Story. (Ya might want to turn down your speakers a tad.:-)

My fellow Americans, we are seriously fucked...

So here is my blueprint to move American forward:

First, Iron City Beer will replace the eagle as the national bird...

Second, all rich people will have required to live in the projects for one month a year or have their wealth nationalized...

Third, weed will become the national plant and all American flags will be made from hemp

Fifth, close down 2/3s of the schools and give the kids computers and let them learn at home with a threat that if they don't do their homework and learn their shit that they will duct-taped to a hard metal chair and be left to listen to repeated playing of Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey", over and over and over

Fourth, turn every vacant lot into a community garden...

Eleventh, make weed the national bird...

Eighth, make elected peoples have to pass poligraphs that prove that they ain't had sex with any farm animals within 30 days of running for office...

Tenth, make weed the standard for our currency... $35 an ounce... Fuck paying $50 for a quarter... Heck with gold...

Where am I???

Oh yeah...

Sixth... Sixth, we outlaw bullets... Guns are fine 'cause that will make the NRA happy...

Guess that about covers it, folks so...

God bless America...

Bobert

Did he mention his bombing of Libya without consent of congress (thereby becoming a war criminal?) Did he tote up how many thousands he's killed with drone bombings in the past year? Those are his big international achievements. Oh, and he's helping in the relocation of al Qeada fighters from Libya to Syria so he can help NATO "save democracy" there or something or other.

And on the homefront, did he mention his shiny new NDAA/Homeland Battlefield Act? He gave the military joint power (with himself) to murder us with that one. Or no, he gave them power to disappear us as "terrorists." Did he get an ovation when he brought that up?

What a guy. With him around, who needs fascists?

Well, I have to say that he nailed it. With only a couple of bad notes, but he hit about eight homers and six triples and pitched pretty much a perfect game at the same time.

Latch onto a good thing while you've got it.
