Subject: RE: Obit: Harlan Ellison, writer 1934-2018 From: Jeri Date: 29 Jun 18 - 09:03 AM I used to love the SciFi Channels The Buzz. Back when the SciFi/SiFi channel had science fiction and original shows and movies, and not so much pro wrestling and Braveheart. I grew up with Star Trek, and the City on the Edge of Forever was monumental. I confess I knew more about the art on the covers of his books than their innards, but I'm quite sure I've read a load of his short stories. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Harlan Ellison, writer 1934-2018 From: Mr Red Date: 29 Jun 18 - 02:16 AM It's all in print somewhere. It was he who insisted that the first words on the moon were: "it's some sort of dust I can move it with my feet" because the immortal lines were said on the last rung of the ladder before Armstrong took the small step/giant leap and before we get too pedantic, there was a minute's delay while the video was processed in Hollywood, but the audio (no processing) had to be added with delay. And this was indeed a first for the methodology. And Harlan had no qualms about pedantry, or scientific accuracy. yea, yea. "the Eagle has landed" WOULD be pedantic |

Subject: Obit: Harlan Ellison, writer 1934-2018 From: keberoxu Date: 28 Jun 18 - 04:41 PM It is truly the end of an era. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. Repent, Harlequin, Said the Tick-Tock Man. And so many others. Rest in peace. |
