"God Save George Washington" seems to have been a different song. According to Percy A. Scholes' God Save the Queen!: The History and Romance of the World's First National Anthem (Oxford UP, 1954, p. 191),

After the Declaration of Independence, in July 1776, the tune [of "God Save the King"] continued in use to patriotic songs such as the following:
God save America; God save the President; God save George Washington; God save Great Washington; Hail godlike Washington; Fill, fill to Washington, Liberty's valianat son, Let the toast pass!; Americans rejoice... 'Tis Washington's birthday; God save the rights of man; Now let rich music sound... The everlasting name of Bunker's Hill; Come all ye sons of song; Hail thou auspicious day; Enthroned in weeds of state... And check great Albion's pride; Fame, let they trumpet sound, Tell all the world around Columbia's free; God save the Thriteen States (this last being 'a song made by a Dutch body at the Hague for the sailors of the five American vessels at Amsterdam, June, 1779'); God save the United States--and so on, including a song for lodge meetings, Hail Masonry divine.

It's kind of a generic national anthem tune. I recall a long time ago, a proposed universal national anthem published in The Economist:

NATIONAL ANTHEM

Sons of the fatherland unite!
Bring happiness to our beautious shores!
God blesses our noble fight,
Our cringeing enemy to smite!
No more shall they spit on our glorious soil!

In addition to "Hail Godlike Washington," posted by rich r above, there're other Washington's birthday songs to the tune of "God Save the King."

Found "God Save the Thirteen States" (Washington mentioned) but not God Save George. Someone was looking for help in threads other than Mudcat back in 1998 but failed. The title is mentioned in discussions of God Save the King, but no words given.

Jeff, I looked around and all I came up with was that it was a popular "alternate title". Didn't find any lyrics for it that were different. They might be out there though. Sorry
