Other points that may be noted now by visiting Netcraft and looking at what a site is running is that Ragtime is running Win2000, where as the others report NT - maybe the 2000 combination is more stable? Or maybe shorty gets the bulk of the load?. If my memory is correct, in the days when I loved loki, it didn't even report Windows as the OS but AS-400 whatever that may be. I guess a loss in the cut backs. On the subject of "Pinging", I discovered the other day that help.mudcat.org and www.cognitivescience.org both report 207.103.108.102 as the IP number so I presume we are looking at virtual server solutions provided by Onstage Media now rather than dedicated machines? This led me to think that loki was just another name for shorty rather than really a separate machine. Or is it just a mistake on the loki setup?

Seems like the majority of Mudcat "regulars" prefer Ragtime. The visitors and newcomers use www.mudcat.org, which usually goes to Shorty. As for myself, I've come to know Loki as a trusted and loyal friend... But to keep things equitable, I use internal links when posting messages in the Forum. I leave out the http://www.mudcat.org, http://loki.mudcat.org, and http://ragtime.mudcat.org when I post links in the Forum (note, however, that you have to use them when posting in the Help forum, whick is not interlinked with the regular forum) -Joe Offer- |
