Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: GUEST,a very dim englishman Date: 22 Jun 05 - 06:00 AM Why is it English Stupidity if it is the British parliament? |

Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: dianavan Date: 21 Jun 05 - 11:32 PM BigPinkLad - You may have a point. I was thinking, however, of protests from hospital workers and teachers. Campbell is lucky that he is far enough away that he doesn't have to answer to us. If the capitol were in Vancouver, we would be camped out on the lawn. When did you last protest in Victoria? |

Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 21 Jun 05 - 03:33 PM Posh & Becks have cornered the market in English stupidity. The authorities fear that this may lead to a serious stupidity shortage in the UK generally, and particularly in England. Bad news for politicians trying to get their latest crop of lies accepted. Only two people in the whole country will believe them. BTW, for our American friends who may not follow soccer, that's Posh Spice, and David Beckham. I am now going into hiding from soccer fans, who will probably put out a contract on me. Don T. |

Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: TheBigPinkLad Date: 21 Jun 05 - 12:07 PM dianavan - given that Vancouver/Lower Mainland is 90% government ridings and the Island is 90% NDP (opposition), how would moving the capital to Vancouver make things different in terms of protests? |
|
Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: Bunnahabhain Date: 21 Jun 05 - 11:48 AM I can't think of any demonstraition or protest since the poll tax riots that has actually changed Goverment policy on anything. The most they've done is hold off something for a year or two. If the Goverment listened, the Fuel protests, Countryside Alliance and Stop the War marches would all have had some lasting effect. People don't miss things so much if they don't work. Govt. is a four letter word |

Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: dianavan Date: 21 Jun 05 - 12:43 AM Here in British Columbia, they put the capitol on an island. Very handy for the politicians, if you want to protest anything, you have to take a ferry and the numbers can be easily manipulated at the port. We do protest but we need to hire big busses to get us there. What a joke! Now if the capital was in Vancouver, it would be a very different story. |

Subject: RE: English Stupidity (no demonstrations) From: Bonecruncher Date: 20 Jun 05 - 08:05 PM So the poor, ultra-sensitve MP', who already have no idea of living in the real world, have to protect themselves from seeing demonstrations by the public they are supposed to represent. Or should that be REPRESS? Hopefully, after the next election, some minister will suggest that those who lost their seats should find employment stacking shelves at Tesco's, as has been suggested for Rover workers made redundant. Colyn. |
