Subject: RE: Christy Moore new CD out Burning Times From: GUEST,JB Date: 18 Oct 05 - 07:24 PM Changes was written by the one and only Phil Ochs. This is the title song of a CD of mine recorded in 2003. A sample can be heard on my homepage: www.john-barden.de on the MP3 sampes page. There is a recording of Christy singing it on the box set but not all the lyrics are included. I believe my recording includes all the verses. I first heard the song sung by Gordon Ligtfoot on one of his very early records ("Early Lightfoot" I think)from the early 70"s. Looking forward to hearing Christy's studio version. JB |

Subject: Review: Christy Moore: Burning Times From: Marc Bernier Date: 18 Oct 05 - 05:20 PM Has anyone heard this yet? I just got it today, I'm listening to it right now. It is pretty remarkable how he covers other writers songs. This is very good. I moved this message here from another thread on the same topic. |

Subject: RE: Christy Moore new CD out Burning Times From: Mr Fox Date: 13 Oct 05 - 06:23 AM "What a wonderful month of recognition for Charlie Murphy, the writer of the song "Burning Times"!" Shame the song is utter nonsense historically. I presume 'Beeswing' is the Richard Thompson song? |

Subject: RE: Christy Moore new CD out Burning Times From: DannyC Date: 11 Oct 05 - 06:51 PM What a wonderful month of recognition for Charlie Murphy, the writer of the song "Burning Times"! Christy Moore makes his song the title track of a CD, while the Ashoka Fellows (ashoka.org) have chosen to honor him at an event in November for his social-action work. Must be living right... |

Subject: RE: Christy Moore new CD out Burning Times From: GUEST,Guest, Big Tim Date: 10 Oct 05 - 10:45 AM I'm surprised, but very pleased, that he's finally done another Dylan song. It doesn't seem so long ago since he was speaking of "Song to Woody" as "the only Dylan song in my repertoire". The times they are a changing. |
