Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Clinton Hammond Date: 26 Feb 06 - 10:25 AM "Sony UK - you can't buy it new" eBay rocks... But this still seems like and awful lot of fiery hoops to jump through just to record Lake Wobegone... Do they not stream it somewhere online? It's be MUCH easier to record there... It's yer nickel.... spend it however you wish |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 26 Feb 06 - 07:13 AM Sony UK - you can't buy it new nor the AV3100 (AKA AX4000 in the US) in the UK. Only the AV2500 which is an AV2000 clone. As I am shortly to be in Thailand I may find new models in airport departure sales outlets. There is a slow stream of both on Ebay - but never having used that I am moving slowly. There is a Yamaha product - the RAV2000 but I can only find the quick start manual so can't verify anything and still can't buy in the UK - looks to be a global purchase or gamble on Ebay - still possibly off-shore. These beasties are not cheap - so I ainta gonna buy a swag of them till one does the job and buying second-hand from god knows who is a gamble - the price has to reflect that. This is important life-affecting stuff you know. |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Clinton Hammond Date: 21 Feb 06 - 01:21 PM Looks like Sony RM AV3000T is the beast for you.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 21 Feb 06 - 01:04 PM http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3245133121.pdf is the manual and it definitely says it can in that. I can't get at it at work but at home it will download with a downloader like FlashGet. As opposed to the RM AV2500 which it mentions only the icon on the display. (Website says it can, Remotecentral think it definitely can't) It may be a European model but the manuals website is global. I may very well buy if they are not obsolete completely. Watch this space. I probably can get it to dim my bedroom lights as well but the boxes & PC (no TV) are downstairs. |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Clinton Hammond Date: 21 Feb 06 - 11:29 AM where does it say that the Sony RM AV3000T has timer features? URL please? Various and sundry Harmony Remotes.... http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlistharmony/CA/EN,CRID=2080 |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 21 Feb 06 - 08:05 AM looks like the Sony RM AV3000T (or somewhat like) can do. It is cheaper than the Harmony which probably can't. I have the manual for the beast and it says it can, and Sony wouldn't lie - would they? - er probably. |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 20 Feb 06 - 06:04 PM FWIW the Harmony doesn't look to have timers but how can you tell?.. |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 20 Feb 06 - 07:32 AM I think so but I am on dial-up at home Hey! - Garrison Keiller is something fresh to my ears - viz "Mr Bush Why did you lie about WMD" "Well it was trueified when I saidificated it, y'all" now hush my mouth fer thinking this but that is FUNNY Anyway Folk Brittania is a regular feature - and come the MotoGP season - well some of us know how to use these things and ITSA TOY OK? |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Clinton Hammond Date: 19 Feb 06 - 03:21 PM Seems like an awful lot of work to go through to record Garison Keilers crap..... Is there an internet stream of it that you can record onto your PC? |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 19 Feb 06 - 03:17 PM believe me - I have been looking at devices costing considerably more than a weeks wages and they don't include timers but seem to make a meal of the fact that they can tell the time. go figure. I haven't been able to get the Harmony pdf manual. Sony say their device has timers and the manual doesn't mention them, and a reviewer does - or their absence. Sony should be held to account for their lies. I can see the problem though. Man the hunter works it all out and a tidy wife find a remote sitting in the wrong place (pointing at the TV/VHS/Satbox etc) and puts it in the cupboard. Who do you blame when it doesn't work? Sony/Philips/Gizmo.com. Solution - function removed from marketing wish list. That's progress. Who wants it anyway. Exit Mr Red from shop pointing out the customer is not a customer. |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Clinton Hammond Date: 19 Feb 06 - 02:24 PM You get what you pay for.... If you only pay for crap, crap is all you're ever going to get... They also have several other modles, lower in price.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Clinton Hammond Date: 18 Feb 06 - 02:24 PM The Harmony Remote is the BEST universal remote ever.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Stilly River Sage Date: 18 Feb 06 - 10:13 AM I don't know that particular product, but I've been thoroughly pleased with each Logitech device I've brought into the house. They think through the development of each item, not just going for some cool-looking device. I use their Internet Navigator keyboard and Trackman track ball (you move the arrow with your thumb, not moving the entire mouse with your hand). SRS |

Subject: BS: Universal TV/AV Remotes programming From: Mr Red Date: 17 Feb 06 - 01:07 PM OK before we get a list of device that might do What I can't find yet is one that can do all these learning existing remote codes. macro facility timer functions that work from a real time clock Sony have an RM AV 2500 which says it does these but the timer/clock is a lie, ditto Marantz/Philips We are talking devices upto £200 pounds that lie on the page. this is to record TV and Radio - terrestial/satellite/anybox (radio has no program listing) and anway the satbox has no timer and no progs past 1 week - thats progress/Rupert Murdock (tick any of above) for you. Having just discovered the Garison Keiler Radio Show - while it is fresh and alive - I just can't miss it right now. |
